Nancy and Von, I think we are 3 peas in a pod! With working full time, I don't have as much time as I'd like for doing "my" things -- right now exercise/walking/running is taking priority. My writing class and music events I have not be taking part in as much as I'd like. Summer is especially hard because on nice weekends we try to be at the cabin as much as possible, and then I get absolutely nothing done at home -- but I do enjoy and need that "time off", too. Hubby has his hunting and fishing and golfing, but I will say that he is very helpful to me as far as cooking supper, doing the grocery shopping, and doing his own laundry. Without out, I doubt I'd get as much walking time as I do. I have to be thankful and appreciative of that. Just hang in there -- things always do get better, but I do understand how being overwhelmed just bogs a person down.

Hi Nancy,
Sorry I missed this post till now. I hope you're feeling better. I am the same way--too much to do and I can't get it all done.
Before I got sick, my house and everything was in perfect order. I have chronic fatigue too and just can't do it like I use to. It can be very frustrating. My husband is gone all the time but with things he chooses to do, like council, the fire dept and a Italian club. He doesn't do much around the house as he is hardly here. It's frustrating.

MNNICE had some very good advice about writing things down and prioritizing what is most important for that day. I use to do that when my kids were small and recently just started again. It seems like it is a never ending battle with chores. I would love to paint or sew, but that seems like it is on the end of the priority list.
I know that overwhelmed feeling. Hang in there and we are here to listen if you ever need a ear.
Hugs, Von

Thanks. I did decide today when I was on my run to get out a notebook and make a daily list. That way I'll feel in control and get the most important things accomplished. The rest can wait - yes?

Nancy, that overwhelmed feeling can really bog a person down. For me, I think it is because I am such a control freak, that when things get out of my control I have a hard time dealing with it and want to just totally shut down. That's when I need to make a list and put every little thing down on it so that you can see some progress as you cross things out. For some reason, it seems to help. Hang in there!!!

Ok, I'm not really having a bad day, just feeling overwhelmed! Jim's company has him working long hours and out of town a lot! When he is home, he's either taking calls on his cell phone or on his computer working. So, nearly everything is falling on me! We have 2 huge gardens, several flower beds and 2 acres of lawn to mow. I can't seem to keep all of that up and my housework. I'm not expecting perfectionism, but I just don't seem to be able to do any job well right now. I was mowing the lawn and tore the seat on his lawn mower, the house is looking unkempt and I cannot keep up with all of the weeds in my gardens! I'm about ready to buy a goat to fence in part of our yard so I have less to mow! Jim thinks I'm kidding, but I'm serious!

I talked to him this morning and it doesn't look like there's an end in sight to his long hours and trips out of town. They are thinking of expanding his territory:( He's just as overwhelmed as I am, but there's not much he can do about it - it's not like there's plenty of other jobs out there right now.

Just had to vent!

~Nancy

Keiralynn and Von,
Update: Yes, I managed to stay away from the carbs (hooray me!)I got out of the house and even treated myself to a new pair of pants (on sale 75% off!). That was uplifting. I still can't believe I was barely squeezing into a size 16 two years ago and now a 4 petite fits perfectly. emoticon Thanks SP!

Lynn and Von hope you both got outdoors today. Being inside all the time, I know I tend to reach for the food more. I phoned my daughter and told her lets go out. We had lots of snow and drab days. Today the sun was shining and it felt so good to go for a drive then to a scrapbook store. We had a healthy lunch out. When I came home I went for a walk. I felt so much better after today. On the really bad days I try and get to the mall and walk indoors where it is warmer.

Hang in there Lynn. Yes, try to get out of the house and do some walking at the grocery store. Sometimes I just keep walking around the store just to get out and it is warm there. That stomach flu left me feeling blah too--I haven't had it for a few days but I still feel blah. Maybe I need to go to the store too....lol. Keep me posted on how you are doing.
Hugs, Von

I'm stuggling a bit today. I'm sure it's a result of being cooped up in the house for too long. Two days of stomach flu followed by two days of snow storms. bleah. Today the snow seems to have let up some. Im going to get out of here even if it's just to pick up some fresh fruit and veggies at the grocery store.

Hi, DivaGirl! Nice to have you among us.

Your day doesn't sound too bad as long as you use portion control. A serving of pasta is one cup, not a big plateful. I fix spaghetti or other pasta occasionally, and for me a 3/4 cup serving is plenty.

Enter it in your tracker before you sit down to eat and see how many calories you have left for dinner.
That works for me, anyway.

We're having turkey burgers. I make them up and freeze them for easy dinners.

It is sunday and I just can't seem to get it together. I started off good, for breakfast I had oatmeal with a banana and sprinkled cinnamon on it and had a cup of herbal tea. Then I had coffee and more coffee along with a candy bar. And Now I am making spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. I know I am not eating healthy or enough for my diet but I am having one of those days when you just can't help it. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. emoticon
