MNNICE, if you feel tired after sleeping for 8 hours, you might not be going into the restful sleep called REM (Rapid eye movement) Watch your caffeine even in the morning and do some relaxing things like soft stretches or a bubble bath before sleep. My mind is always going 100 mph when I get in bed so I have to do relaxation breathing exercises to get to sleep. I haven't been sleeping well, getting up too early and not getting my 8 hours. Also I have a headache as soon as I get up and all day. Might be due to allergies though. I'm late with my shot as usual....lol

I slept very well last night despite the fact that I have to get up at least twice every night to use the bathroom. The good thing is that I am able to go directly back to sleep. Let my husband tell the story, he would say that I never wake up, that I sleep walk to and from the Bathroom. I am always rested when I get up in the mornings.

I always sleep well, but sometimes wonder if I am really getting the good kind of sleep because it seems no matter how little or how much sleep I get, I am always tired. I can fall asleep anytime, anywhere, all I have to do is lay down and close my eyes.... It's both a blessing and a curse.

Jeri, I feel for you. I have been doing that for the last week. One night i got up at 330am.. and needed a nap which makes me feel worse. Maybe the adrenaline rush of the holidays...

I have read that a snack consisting of a combination of apples and dairy products help aid a good night's sleep. (Baked cinnamon apples and hot chocolate might be relaxing on a cold winter night)

Seven and a half hours and I would have slept more, but have to get up, do chores and get to church services. Getting better, those tips you sent really helped, Von:)
I almost always sleep very well and last night was no exception. I even got to sleep in a bit this morning, which is a rare treat for me.

I slept well last night, but I went to sleep too late. I stayed up to watch the 11:00 news, because they were interviewing Brittany's family. They looked so very sad. I see them every day, but it's so hard to see the sadness in the grandmother's face. After I watched the news, I fell asleep and slept better than I'd slept in months. I think I was exhausted! But then my daughter had to be at work by 6:45 this morning, so I had to get up at 5:45 to get to her house to babysit the kids. Unfortunately, we locked our keys in the car while it was running, and my husband had to drive me to her house in his icky work van. That was 2 hours ago, and he's still waiting on the person to come and unlock our car door. rrrrrrrrrrr.....

Sorry you didn't sleep well last night Nell. If my sleep is interrupted, I can't go back to sleep. My furbaby was waking me up, so we put her in the living room for a couple of nights. I brought her to bed with me last night and she slept fine until 5:30.

My husband gets up in the middle of every night and goes down to his recliner to watch TV. Sometimes he comes back up to bed, sometimes not. It certainly disturbs my own sleep. This morning he got up for good at a little after 5 and so did I. Sigh.

Yay! Seven hours:) Feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the world. Speaking of dreams, I've been having the same dream over and over about a pair of snowmen earrings. I haven't worn earrings in maybe 20 years, but I might just get a pair. Talk about weird!

I didn't sleep well last night. I woke up this morning hurting all over. We went to a banquet last night and I wore heels-low ones. But I should know better. Just being lazy today--cooking soup.

Finally slept well. Seven hours is pretty good for me. I didn't wake up at all. We had turkey last night and dh thinks it helped me. I forgot to get the Advil PM, and slept fine without it.

I already do all the stuff that article says. I just have a hard time sleep. I can go to sleep, no problem. I just can't stay asleep. I've never been able to stay asleep. As long as I can remember I've been chasing after a good sleep.

Hi Jeri, Sorry you slept poorly last night. I always feel so wrung out if I don't get enough sleep. It has to do with us getting into an REM (rapid eye movement) state in our minds. That usually kicks in at about 6 hours into your sleep. If we don't reach that point--some people don't even with over 8 hours, then we aren't rested. Can you think of anything that is making you sleep poorly? Maybe go to the link I posted earlier and see if there is anything you can try. Keep us posted.
Hi Nancy, I have low blood pressure too. Are you sure it is your blood pressure (Sounds like it is if you stand up and get dizzy) But it could also be you blood sugar being low. Have you ever had it checked? I have both low pressure and low sugar in the mornings. Drinking coffee relieves my low blood sugar and just getting up and moving around helps my low blood pressure. Let me know how you are doing.
Hugs to all and let's all sleep well tonight. It is so important to our healthy weight loss/maintenance goals! Hang in there!

Thanks - I love the soak in a hot tub suggestion. Will try that tonight:)
I'm cutting back my caffeine, but now my blood pressure is so low, I get dizzy when I stand up. I drink 2 - 3 cups of coffee in the morning and either a cup of coffee in the afternoon or a Diet Pepsi (bad, I know). The caffeine keeps my blood pressure up, otherwise it's very low.

I'm winding down for bedtime. I'm going to take some Advil PM and poor Morgan is going to spend the night in bed with the grandsons:( They say she doesn't wake them up, so we're going to try that tonight and see how I do.
I did just drink a cup of Gingerbread tea. Hope I don't wake up to use the bathroom.... I'll let you know.

Hi all, I relate to you Jeri with the pain waking me up. I try to take a warm bath before bed and this sometimes help. With fibromyalgia, this is one of the symptoms-insomnia.
If my dogs get me up in the middle of the night, then I can't go back to sleep. Sometimes they get me up at 3:30AM. Then it messes up my whole day. I dislike taking a nap as it seems to make me feel worse.
I haven't been sleeping well since I got up for black Friday to shop. Last night I got 11 hours!! I was really surprised as I am lucky to get 7. I must have really need the sleep. I feel great today!
Hope you all get a good night sleep tonight

I have this problem from time to time. I do sometimes overdo the caffeine, so it could be that. I think I can trace it to hormonal issues though. Wish I'd just go through menopause and be done with it.... but that's another topic!
Thanks for the article, I'm going to try some of the suggestions, especially the caffeine part. I have no trouble falling asleep, just when I wake up (my furbaby wakes me up a lot) I can't get back to sleep!
