I just finished reading "Younger Next Year For Women" which got me really psyched about exercise. I am committed to 45 min of aerobic exercise 6 days a week (I'm up to 2.5 miles in 45 min while maintaining my target heartrate of 128 and I'm working towards 2 - 3 days of 15 min of strength training on machines at the gym. I swim 10 laps a couple times a week and walk my dog around the block daily. I've been drinking 8 glasses of water a day...I just carry it around like a baby's sippy cup. One of my little goals (can't remember what they're called on this website) is doing 15 min of floor exercises in front of the tv. It's all really just getting back to habits I used to have up until I was about 50. When menopause set in I slacked off....but I'm back on track now and plan to stay here
I'm 60 and feel marvelous! I'm 5'1" and want to lose about 10 lbs by April 15th. I weighed 118 when I started Friday. Love the nutrition tracker! I've always just sort of guessed how many calories I was eating but now I can really know and I can create my own diet! I can select my own meals rather than follow someone else's 'script". LOVE THAT!
For me personally, that means one glass (6 oz) of white wine every evening...I've never seen a diet that allowed for that!
I'm not hungry at all and I know I'm getting the proper proportions of fat, carbs and proteins. I'm not at all hungry and feel very satisfied staying within my caloric guidelines.
Forget diets. Play with the nutrition planner and learn to create meals that satisfy you!
I have never tried Atkins. We do have a forum here titled Maintainer's Team Diet and Exercise Forum. There may be something there that can help. Some do Weight Watcher's, etc. I am 51 and I eat a banana sometimes for breakfast. The last 10 pounds are pesky to lose.
I started 3/6/07 at 149. I have lost almost 22 pounds.

Have tried Atkins diet two years ago and did loose weight. I like Atkins but just not the induction. I have osteoporosis and in reading literature and books, about loosing weight, I see that induction is definitely not good for someone with osteoporosis. What kind of diets are some of your members on? I read books and I know it is very important to keep your blood level sugar at a reasonable range otherwise your have cravings. In looking over the site, I also see people have a banana for breakfast. As far as I know, that converts right into sugar and therefore increasing your blood sugar level thus cravings. I does not help also if you are post-menopausal. When I was young, I had to try and gain weight. Now each year it seems like it creeps up again. I am not overweight that much. I weigh 115 lbs which is the highest I have ever been) and am 5'1. It seems like it is all in my midsection. I would like to loose 10 to 13 lbs. Getting very frustrated on what exactly to eat. Do I do Atkins 2nd phase, or what diet plans has anyone out there been successful with. Please help. Would appreciated a reply. Thanks, Johanna
