I've never heard a set amount to reach for.
What I just read this morning leads me to believe if you get your daily fruits and veggies at the recommended level that there's no need to supplement and you're probably getting adequate levels.
I also found this article stating possible health hazards:

I know they are supposed to be great for you, but is there a certain amount we should try to consume?
