I love muffins (of my own making - healthy & yummy!) for breakfast, because they're so satisfying. The ones I eat can be found here: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=1537601
Otherwise I have oatmeal with a few chocolate chips, about 2Tbsps of Milk, and a mashed-up banana all heated up in the microwave. Bananas once heated up are super-sweet, so you don't need sugar! Also, if you can't have milks of the usual kind, no-sugar added options are great with Almond milk, which is natrually quite sweet!

I grew up never big on breakfast and when I was working full time it was built into my schedule however back in school, I have only had breakfast on weekends.. and usually it was be a brunch more of. MY siblings call it "the everything egg" because I have egg+whatever vegetable was in the fridge. Celery, tomato, green pepper, red pepper etc. Sometimes add a little bit of cheese, sometimes I have toast.
Trying to get breakfast back into my schedule. What I'm really liking is the yogurt parfait though I'm lactose intolerant (mild) but having lactose free yogurt really has no calcium and if I ever have cereal I have it with soy milk.

I'm not a breakfast person in general, I only eat breakfast when out with friends for brunch. This is limited to weekends so I enjoy the occasional waffle (I try to not finish the entire entree).

HORSTMANNJ- I love adding fiber one cereal to yogurt, I'll make like a little parfait with the yogurt, cereal and fruit. Sometimes I add fiber one to non-fat cottage cheese too, the protein and the fiber together really keep me full.

I usually have 1/2 cup Quaker Old Fashioned Oats, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp splenda, cooked with 1 cup water in the microwave, then I add a 1/4 cup Fiber One cereal. Its about 185 calories, and filling. This is around 10:00 at work. In the morning when I wake up at 6 I eat some fruit or something under 100 calories just to jump start my metabolism even though I'm not ready for my breakfast.

I am a tried and true cereal with skim milk eater for breakfast. My favorite cereals are shredded wheat (any variety) and Grape Nuts flakes. I usually try to stick to the rule of thumb that a serving of the cereal should have less than 6 grams of sugar and at least 6 grams of fiber per serving. Some of the frosted and flavored shredded wheat varieties have more sugar than that, but I consider those more of a treat and alternate them with the plain spoon size shredded wheat. The fiber in the cereal keeps me full until around 11 when I usually have some fruit for a snack. In summer I like to add some fruit to my cereal, too.

I usually eat fruit or oatmeal, I've never tried any of the Kashi cereals, but I'm going to after seeing how many people like them, now I'll just have to find a way to wake up a little bit earlier to eat breakfast at home instead of at the office!

After being introduced to the starbucks vivanno, and then going broke after buying one every morning.. I decided to make my own. It's SO much better too! 8oz -chocolate almond breeze, 1 frozen banana, 1 serving of vanilla whey protein powder and a couple of ice cubes to make desired thickness. You can also sub the chocolate almond breeze for any kind of juice and use other fruits like frozen berries. The protein really hold my hunder until mid-morning snack time.

I pretty much eat this everyday - i love it, and it's pretty freakin healthy too. You can get the oat bran and oats really cheap at a health food store, or anywhere they sell bulk foods:
1/2 cup baby-cut oats (or "quick cook" oats) 1/4 cup oat bran 1 cup water banana pinch of salt
cook for 2 minutes in the microwave and add a pinch of stevia
so good!
Goal for Oct. 1st: 129 lbs!

I try to eat cereal (either a Kashi or a General Mills cereal) or oatmeal with nonfat milk and fruit pretty early in the morning. And coffee. I will then eat a midmorning snack (around 11) so I have enough energy to workout at lunch. My snack is usually a granola bar (Kashi or Quaker Simple Harvest) or fruit or string cheese.
Love, Hillary

I like Dannon Lit'N Fit Vanilla Yogurt with Fiber one Cereal (just a little) mixed in. But I also love Quaker Oats Lower Sugar Oatmeal (cinnamon spice is my fav!). Both are quick easy and low calorie. Add some fruit on the side and enjoy!

I eat the Kashi Go Lean oatmeal with a tsp of canola oil in it. It sounds strange but I struggle to get in healthy fats throughout the day so I do it first thing in the morning, it also keeps me full longer. Most days at about 10:30 I have a snack usually it is a piece of fruit, yogurt, or cottage cheese

Hey, I'm Carrie. I'm new to this particular discussion group, but since I love breakfast, I thought I'd throw in my two cents. I usually eat the same thing during the week - one serving of Kashi Autumn Wheat or similar healthy cereal. I focus a lot on getting a high fiber cereal with a bit of protein, and LOW SUGAR. One neat trick I learned follows: take the number of sugar grams and multiply by 4. If this number exceeds the total carb grams, than it really is TOO SUGARY. It's amazing how many cereals completely fail this test. I eat my cereal with about a half cup of 2% milk, and a piece/serving of fruit. And, of course, a cup of joe:) If I get hungry before lunch, I'll snack on a handful of raw, plain almonds, or maybe some baby carrots or another serving of fruit. I think the key is combining fiber, fat, and protein to keep you full longer. Another quick idea is one or two pieces of healthy toast (I like the sprouted whole grain that you find in the freezer section) with a little bit of natural peanut butter (spread lightly), and fruit. Hope this gives you some good ideas!

I usually eat two scrambled egg whites, two slices of turkey bacon and coffee. My other choice of breakfast is 3/4 cups of special k cereal with 1/2 cup of skim milk and 2 egg whites.
Dinner is the meal I have a heard time controlling. I love sweets and and the cravings hit at night...HELP!!!

Hmm...All these yogurt breakfasts! I'm now pretty curious as to how much more it'd fill me up rather than milk in my cereal. When I'm out of my current oatmeal supply I'm switching back to Kashi GoLean for the warm season, I'll have to try some yogurt in it!

I usually eat 1 cup of Special K with a 1/2 cup of 2% Milk and a Strawberry Yogurt, like Dannon Light n Fit or Weight Watchers Strawberry. You can pick any flavor of yogurt you want. Its good and it seems to hold me over until lunch.

This is my breakfast obsession, it doesnt look pretty, but it's tasty and keeps you full.
1/2 to 1 cup fruit, depending what kind. I've tried bananas, pineapple, strawberries, nectaries.
Top with a 6 oz container of Dannon Lite and Fit, any flavor
Top with 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch
It's all about 200 calories depending what type of fruit you have and packed with protein and fiber.

During the warmer months, I eat Kashi GoLean cereal. It's high in protien and fiber so it keeps you very full, and there's not a ton of added sugar like there is in GoLean Crunch, so you're only giving your body nutrition and not sugary energy that'll drop you later!
All winter though, I've been eating the instant oatmeal packets. I know they DO have added sugar, but to me, nothing beats a hot bowl of sweet oatmeal on cold mornings! If I get hungry mid-morning cause there's not much protein, I'll have a few almonds or something else tiny to tide me over til lunch :)

I know that breakfast is an important meal of the day and I have been trying really hard to eat the right things. What do you all have for breakfat? I want to be able to eat breakfast and have some lasting energy for my day ahead, some of those breakfast bars and such just seem to make me tired later on.
