I have a friend I ran with today that was wearing a Garmin 305, he loves it too. Shame they don't make that model any more.

Still looking. I just used my phone today with MapMyRun. The only problem is that I hate digging for my phone while I'm running if I want to check on time or distance.

Still looking

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

It really depends on what you are using it for. I have a Garmin 305 for running outdoors that has been pretty reliable. For treadmill running and strength training, I use a Polar HRM that connects with the equipment at my gym--I don't recall the model, but it wasn't the cheapest or most expensive model. Good luck finding the right one for you!

hi
have tried a couple (polar for one, which i liked ). i am not using one at present (been a couple of years now). that said, i think they are a good training tool (well they worked well for me :-)

you might want to check out the new ones coming up. i read a tech article yesterday; new ones will be worn on the wrist (research indicates that guys do not like the chest strap)

there are some lower end ones (i used one for years) that do the job and are economical - and there are some high end ones (like the polar i had) and they have lots of bells and whistles.

good running to you Don

Don, I had a Polar in the past, but really like my Garmin 305. I use it with a Gymboss. I do a walk/run and the Gymboss has a louder beep and vibrates at the end of each cycle. The Garmin does a great job of tracking speed/pace and distance.

I just purchased a Polar FT7 heart rate monitor and sent it back because I had the hardest time reading the darn thing. Even with the backlight I had great difficulties reading the tiny characters on the dark background of the watch face.

Anyone have something they love and want to share what you are using?

Thanks,
Don in Chesapeake Beach, MD
