I try to do lots of things to be safe. I've been doing searches on the internet every day to see if they've found out the cause of his death but nothing yet. They said there was no signs of injuries or anything else on the outside of his body but the autopsy results could take days. I'm very interested to know what happened to Micah True.

The day after he was found there were 4 kayakers that went missing also from out of the area. They apparently didn't check any conditions of the area and thought they could do the 30 mile trip in a couple of days that usually takes 3 days at least. But also they didn't check the river conditions I think because according to newspaper reports the river is so low right now because of a drought we've been in that in places it's only a few inches deep and so many places they would have to walk. The turned up 4 days later I think it was walking back out. Two were from the Fort Bliss military base in El Paso, about 3 hours from us. They were also in the same general area that Micah True went missing, with their start point only about 4 or 5 miles from where he was staying. But all of these were in wilderness area, not just forest area.

We all should take common sense precautions when we do our thing especially in remote locations. We all know what to do much more than less.

It's tough when this stuff happens so close to home. We live in an area where there is a lot of wooded land and old coal mines. There has been a man missing since Feb and presumed dead by now. Last seen hiking on one of the mountains with old mines shafts.
I do admit that I am guilty of hiking alone and it could easily be me missing. I will reconsider where I go alone. I will also say a prayer for those missing and their families.

It's been so sad to follow his story since he first went missing. last update I've found is that they are still working on cause of death. Although I never met him, because it was in an area I know and only about 45 miles from where I live it is so personal. And now, in the same general area about 10 miles or so from where he was there is 2 servicemen and the girlfriend of one of them who are missing who were going to apparently go rafting down the river, although the river is too low for rafting. They were last heard from Saturday morning and were supposed to be back on base in El Paso by Monday morning. Their vehicle was found at a campground I know well just about 4 or 5 miles from the lodge that Micah True was staying at.

I hope that we can find out what went wrong. He was pretty young, relatively speaking. Did he just push himself too hard? We really only have today. I always tell my family if I die out there on the trail, for whatever reason, just know that I went doing what I loved. No regrets. I'm living today. Thank God that I can.

This was shocking and surprising but perhaps an appropriate way for Caballo Blanco to leave this plane of existence.

I don't know if any of you have read the book by Christopher McDougal called Born to run about Micah True, an ultra runner. He's also known as Caballo Blanco. He lives in Boulder CO I guess but was in my area of southern New Mexico recently staying at a lodge on the edge of the wilderness and went for a run and hasn't returned. Here's a link to one of the stories.

The area he went missing in is only about 45 miles from where I live and I've been in the general area a number of times. Sending prayers and good thoughts for them to find him alive and safe soon.
