We're doing the Gasparilla Distance Classic Half Marathon on Sunday, Feb 24! This race will qualify us to join Half Fanatics as it completes the required 3 Halfs in 90 days!
My appetite has improved. I believe my congestion is breaking up. I still have an annoying cough. I have about 80 hours to get better. This should be interesting. I'm rolling in positive waves.

Way to go, Maggie! I'm planning to do a Disney half in 2014. Sound like fun for sure!! Maybe I'll see you here in FL next year.
Tonight I am scheduled to run a 5K, the Rotary Twilight 5K fundraiser for the Common Ground playground that my grandkids love. Unfortunately, I had my second personal training session Wednesday. Actually, that is not the unfortunate part. The unfortunate part is that I'm so sore and stiff today that I can barely walk. Hoping it will release some by this eve. I'm thinking I'll just walk-jog it with my nephew rather than race it. The last 5K we did together he finished in 41:37 I think and I was right at the 30 min mark. I do love the bling, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

Go, Monty!! You are going to do great!
I've got my first 5K in almost a year. I know I've got the endurance; I ran a HM not too long ago. I'm a little afraid I'm going to be slow, but we'll see.

Just under 10 miles as 4 miles warm-up and 10K Race that had a short course! 10K pace 8:15.
I ran RnR L.A. yesterday and it was awesome! Perfect weather, lot's of costumes, and all going to a great cause (ASPCA). Even saw a few celebrities; Will Ferrell, Deena Kastor and Frank Shorter. I even ran into Dog the Bounty Hunter while crossing the street in front of the Staples Center. My sister still is not convinced it was him ;).

Sounds like you all had a great weekend for races! Unfortunately there are no more races up here. Will have to wait until spring. I would get out and run, but it snowed last night and I am a fair weather runner -- seriously, I don't want to get hurt on the snowy/icy roads.
But I love snow! Can't wait for ski season!!!

Ran my first "official" 10k this weekend...the 9runrun emergency services in Ottawa, Canada. Had a blast, even though I was nervous and excited the whole week before. Did 1:08, middle of the pack for the 50-55 age group. Had done Run for the Cure 5k earlier this summer. Will I do it again?... yes, yes, yes...am aiming for the NCC 1/2 marathon May 2013! I'm hooked!

Had a small but good 5k at UMass today benefitting engineers without borders. I pushed my two smallest in the buggy an managed to finish in 22:50 (the course was a tad short, I had 3.0 miles even and a 7:39 pace on the Garmin).
I have another coming up in mid Nov, sans kids. Hoping to get low 22's.

Hey everyone!
I just joined the team..... did my first 10K Monday -- The Tufts 10K. I'm very excited to have done better than I thought I would. Next two are 5ks -- one a doggy/human run, and the other one on day after Thanksgiving. Last year that was the first 5k I ever did, so I'm revisiting to see how much I've improved!
I'm 53, and just started running last year.

Congrats Striver!! Nice job.
I have a 5k on Oct 27 (Fall Festival), then a half marathon in Phoenix on March 2, 2013. I change from running to biking during the summer - so still at build-up phase. Excited to be running again, and appreciate the cooler temps!

i just did my first half!! the royal parks half marathon in London. considering that i was almost ready in early June, got tendonitis and couldn't run again til August 12 -- the Galloway method saved me, made it possible for me to train, to run the half, and to do as well as i expected to do back in June when i was doing straight running. ran 45-second intervals, 12:06 pace, 2h40:50 chip time. not bad for a first half-marathon two weeks before my 61st birthday. gorgeous fun flat fast course -- best sightseeing tour of London possible. thanks to all for your encouragement.

I'm gonna have a blast doing the 5th Annual Dunedin Brewery OktoBEERfest 5K tomorrow, Saturday, Sep 29. This is my second year doing it. I believe our race time is 5pm and our course will be on the Pinellas Trail, a great track and one I use for my training. The post party is always epic! Cheers!
The rest of 2012 into Feb 2013 will be an interesting challenge for me. But then that's what makes this journey exciting and fun!

I have three races coming up in the next three months:
13 Oct - 5k in Amherst, MA (its a small race, I will probably run with my two smallest in the jogger). Last year I did it in 22:41 (without kids) and the year before in 23:30 (with one kid).
13 Nov - 5k in Jacksonville, FL. I am in town for a water resources conference and the conference is holding a 5k.
22 Nov - Turkey Trot 5k in Andover, MA. I will be running with my brother and his family. We did it last year, it was a nice race. I saw Team Hoyt at the finish (pretty inspirational!) as well as past Boston Marathon winner Joan Benoit Samuelson.
I would like to work in a few 10k up to 10 mi races next spring.

First organized, public, active thing since getting serious about getting my health and fitness back 6/28/12. I'm super excited about it. While I'd love to finish under 35 minutes, my real goal is just to finish.

Just signed up for Aids Walk 5K Tampa Bay on Sept 8. This is my second year at this event. Beautiful location and I'm running it again with the few that do run for those that can't.

This morning as part of a Triathlon Training Camp weekend I am completing I ran the Mississippi River Run10K in Hannibal MO. My time was not what I was shooting for but this is a VERY hilly course and I did take 1 minute 30 off my time when I ran this race in 2009. So, I did live up to my motto: "Older, Lighter, Faster." My time was 52:51 an 8:31 pace. I got a medal as the second masters female and was 23rd overall. I am pleased. Karen

Thanks for commenting on my post about our 5K with Crossover Running. It WAS one of the most remarkable experiences of my life. How incredible to get to witness the joy on those participants faces when they completed something that was inconceivable to them just a few short months earlier! Blog with pictures to follow SOON!

I'm running the Madison Mini-Marathon. After training in 80-90+ degree weather all summer, we are being rewarded with a predicted morning temperatures of 50 degrees and partly sunny. Perfect running weather.

Tomorrow I run my first 5K of this year. I have run 4-5k's, 1-10 K and 2 half in the past couple of years, but this one is special. Some friends and I have been working with some folks at our local homeless shelter, taking them through the C25K program and tomorrow is THEIR first ever 5K - and BBQ afterwards to celebrate! It is going to be such an honor to share this experience with them all - in advance to all the Crossover Running Participants for sticking with the program and pushing themselves to do more than they ever would have dreamed!

I'm running the Sam's Sprint 5 K in Mount Juliet, Tennessee on September 29. I'd really like to finish in 30 minutes, but that may still be a little out of reach. Honestly, I'll just be happy to finish.

Whew, I haven't posted here in a long while. Looonnnng. Just reading through this thread, and wow, there are some inspirational runners, here. I love reading about people's goal races, and post-race reports. It's nice to see the different opportunities out there, too.
I'm running a half marathon in Vancouver B.C. in just over two weeks, it's put on by Lululemon, and finishes with a concert, and includes a bunch of yoga events, too. I'm pretty excited about it. I don't have a race goal, other than to maintain my marathon pace throughout, as my bigger goal is the Goodlife Fitness Marathon, in Victoria B.C. in October. This will be my second of 4 planned marathons (then I'm going to "retire" to races 32Km and under.)
That midnight race sounds so fun!

I said I was just going to train for my Space Coast Marathon in August. I'm probably going to sign up for something in Aug now, I just don't know what!
I ran the Midnight Run on Jul 3 and felt a little DOMS in my Vastus Lateralis. On July 8, I did the Run Thru Hell, cooled down properly, then did some stretching afterwards....and have felt great ever since. I also ran faster than the former run as I was strict on my 3:1 interval. I had a great kick in the end that I didn't have during the Midnight Run. I love learning what works.

I never thought I would be in this frame of mind. I'm doing the Midnight Run tomorrow night (July 3)at around 11:45pm kicking off the Fourth of July celebration with a post race-party until at least 1:30am in the morning! Then I'll be looking forward to the Run Thru Hell In Tampa this coming Sunday! (July 8) I just found out there will be mud and obstacles involved! No problem! I am so blessed to be able to do this now. I won't have another race in August but I will be training for my Nov. Space Coast Half as I go for my own "lightning turtle speed" PB! Sept and Oct will bring several 5Ks but I'm excited as 2013 will bring more Halfs...and I started running at 60? Hell yeah! Livin' the journey!

So, I Sun Ran in absentia. Third time ever that I've run 10k. Improved av. per-hr time by about a minute per mile over previous run, and av. per-min time of return lap was a minute-per-mile faster than out-bound time. I think I have it in me to become a runner : )
DW, DD, S-I-L, Grandson and visiting friend formed a surprise finish-line cheering section : ) Fun! Re-hydrating beer going down very nicely.

My first 20 mile run/race at the Essex 20, Langham UK on Sunday 4th March
VERY proud of my little self
Glad I wore my thermal running tights, but didn't have my thermal top, so kept t-shirt on underneath vest...ended up soaked of course with all the rain and very cold at the end. Some TOUGH hills too, even my friend Andre an experienced runner said they were a B*&^% (I don't swear lol)
Wasn't sure I was going to make 3 laps after the first one due to the hills, thought briefly about stopping at the HM point (end of second lap) but thought what the heck, got this far, keep going. Even beat my 15 mile time from Benfleet by about 30 minutes..so all in all one very happy lady. Once I got to that point it was completely new territory for me, so no way could I stop..each additional mile was a new achievement.
Much more confident now on being able to complete a marathon....it's only another 6.2 miles right
Was secretly hoping for 3:45 as the cut off time was 4 hours....my time 3:37:33

Got up around 5:00am, was in Tampa around 6am, parked at the Convention Center, returned to the Health & Fitness Expo to make sure we had seen everything, spent quality time gathering info, taking photos, then made it to the starting assigned corral for the Gasparilla Distance Classic 5K along with 11,000 + of my closest new friends! Ended with a new Personal Best and didn't want to stop...but made sure to pick up my Finisher's bling! More on that in my race report/blog. It's good to be alive!

Up here, on the Front Range of the Rockies, our weather rarely improves until May, so the race season is slow to start!!!
So far, I'm registered for: March 17th: Lucky Laces 10K run April 15h: Platte River Half Marathon May 5th: Greenland 25K June 2nd: Golden Gate Dirty Thirty
Both the Lucky Laces, Platte River 1/2 AND The Greenland 25K could happen on a sunny, pleasant day with mild temperatures OR we could be running in a full-blown blizzard.

My sis and I try to do one race a year together. She lives in NY, this year we were going to do Chicago but are leaning towards a half instead. Found one back east and it looks like fun:
Has anybody done one of these before? I figure any race that you get to run with a feather boa can't be too bad! :)

Nice to meet you all! I just started with Sparkpeople a few months ago. I live out in Colorado and we are lucky to have tons of great races here to do.
Specifically, I am training for the Slacker Half Marathon in June (slacker because it is all downhill :)). I also am probably going to do the Platte River Half (April) and the Georgetown to Idaho Springs (August). Maybe a few others, just have to see how i feel. Last year i did the Colorado Marathon in May, which was amazing but i think i am going to stick to the halfs for awhile. I realize it has become my favorite race distance.

I do one race a month. Next up is the Judicata 10K on Feb. 25. It is through a very steep, hilly park. Needless to say, I don't run this one for time, but just to get a great hill workout in.
After that here's my schedule through May:
March- my first 1/2 marathon of the year April- a 1/2 marathon and a 5K May- a 10K

Just signed up for the Austin Livestrong half-marathon. Maybe that will motivate me!

Don't have any big 2012 race plans but do plan on running the Saint Patty's Day Run in Seattle 3/17 and the Bloomsday Run in Spokane 5/6. Hopefully that will spur on other aspirations including the Lake Padden Tri in the Bellingham area 6/16.

I ran the Road Hawg 5K today and was the Female Masters Winner (25:38)! First time ever winning that category. I guess it pays to get a little older! LOL
Running keeps me sane.

I am doing the virtual 5K this week and I am hoping to be close to my personal best from before I hurt my sciatic nerve. It is great to get back to my jogging and doing races again. I just signed up for the Holiday Hustle 5k on 11/26/11. I am excited and just hope it doesn't snow! :)

I ran a local five mile race Sunday October, 2. I ran a PR of 37:57 (7:35 pace). I beat last years time by nearly two minutes!
Next up is the ING Hartford Half Marathon on October 15.

I am running my first half marathon tomorrow at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville Michigan. Crystal Mountain is a ski and golf resort and their spa was ranked top 10 in the country. I don't remember the exact ranking. I went out there today and picked up my race packet. It is like it's own little village in there. All I could think was "wow", I would love to be able to afford to get away for a spa weekend out there. It should be recommended for a Spark People prize in some contest!

First half marathon completed today!
Very hilly and very warm for the UK at this time of year, but I finished in 2hours and 13 minutes. Was 18th in my age group (Over 45's) out of 37, so quite pleased with that too.
