I have some tongs with silicone tips meant for using with non-stick pans and they work for turning the knobs off. I still have to stretch to the back of the stove to turn burners on which isn't a problem.
I visited a neighbor's apartment this morning and discovered that her stove has front controls. I think I can get the "landlord" to change the stove in this apartment, especially since on my applications I stated that I needed accommodations for my disabilities. I don't have any problems with the rest of the kitchen for the moment. But now I know that there are "handicapped" apartments in this building and I was told there weren't. So I will be able to get some things changed for my needs.
Tomorrow my daughter is taking me up to the old house to bring more things down. She asked me today what things I still need to get down here and I read off the list I've made. She was very surprised that I had made a list and that the list was so comprehensive. I know there are things that I will not be able to bring down now or ever, but I want to get what I can down here as soon as possible. I have the sense that my things are not safe up there.
I have been shopping for needed items on Amazon and I found a gate leg table that is similar to one I got right after we moved to Ashford. It will be perfect for my current apartment. I will need to find chairs to go with it, but I am not concerned about finding suitable chairs. They don't have to match, just be the right height for dining.
That is enough for tonight. I need to go to bed so I can wake up early tomorrow morning.
Judy, How about those long handled grippers. You know what I mean, I think...you squeeze one end, and the other end has grippers on it. You may be able to use that to turn your burners on and off... Patty
I'm still having to log in each day. What's up with that?
Judy, did you read my thread that I suggested you get a two burner hot plate so you don't have to reach across the stove for the knobs.
Jan, my shoulder is just about like your knee. There won't be anything wrong with it that can be fixed. Been there done that.
I had lab work for the white cells this morning. Then when I got home DH said the MRI office called for me to schedule an app't. I could have Tues. or Fri. I have chemo scheduled on Tues but thought I could delay that a day or two. Call Dr office but my message only got to the Physicians assistant. She said I need the chemo. (well I know the chemo isn't working) She doesn't follow my case like the NP does and I almost called back for the N P to call me. But I haven't. She only set me up for chemo on Tues so I'd be on the schedule but I'm sure she would prefer I had the MRI. I hate being a pain. I could have chemo Thur or Fri if there was an opening but once I have chemo I have to wait 48 hours for the MRI.
The sun was out but it is pretty cloudy right now. Temp on computer says 70. There must be rain somewhere but doubt we will get any.
The sun is shining in the window this morning although our forecast is for partly cloudy. I had to turn up the blinds a bit so it didn't glare on the computer and in my eyes.
After things checked out with the physical therapist yesterday DH and I took a good walk and that felt good. I decided I'm not going to be concerned about the knee since everything seems to be sound.
I'm getting ready for our youngest son to get here later today.
Patty, I've never associated headaches with thyroid - maybe blood pressure or it could plain be something else. I've had my dose lowered twice (related to weight loss) and I'm now taking Levothyroxine 100 mcg. I understand balancing the thyroid can be tricky and you definitely don't want it too low or too high because it can effect your whole body system.
Judy, It sounds like you are well settled into your new neighborhood. I hope today is cooler for you.
Looks like it may be rainy out today. We need the rain, but hubby is out at yard sales, looking for bikes, so he will not want the rain...lol thankfully it is not my decision on whether it rains or not, so I don't have to worry about it.
Woke with a headache this morning...I had my banana and coffee. Wondering if it is from the new thyroid meds, or the lower dose...anyone else on thyroid? Seem to remember someone talking about it. If so, what meds are you on for it?
