Patty, I know you're diabetic but counting calories was the easiest for me. I don't do the carb thing or any other thing except to try to stay low fat. When losing I tried to stay at or around 1200 calories a day. Fish once a week at least and pasta only once a week. Rice once a week too. Once or twice a week no meat, chicken beef etc. sorta a salad meal or baked potato with chopped vegetables on top. I didn't count vegetable calories unless they were the starchy ones. I pretty much would eat the same thing for breakfast every day. Now it is Cherrios. I don't vary my lunch much either. For a while it was cottage cheese with pineapple or peaches. i know boring but it worked for me. I sorta do the W W thing but just keep track of calories.
Even though I'm not tracking now that my weight is still under goal but when I was losing I wrote down every thing I ate. AND I weighed everything. I still weigh out my Cherrios and I'd weigh my cottage cheese and fruit too.
We still have two usless air conditioners and this heat wave is to last through Sunday. So frustrating. DH has made phone call after phone call. Repair man is due on Tues.

The warm weather is swooshing in. Warm and muggy.
I got The Spark Solution awhile back but was on the doctor-prescribed diet for 8 weeks plus. So last Saturday I started doing the Spark Solution diet and exercise. The foods and recipes are basic, whole foods and it's stirring up changes for me that are good. I can get in a real favorite foods rut. The highly processed foods in Healthy Exchanges are expensive and don't work well with my blood sugar. Also the health problems I was having had to do with processed foods.
Don't you think there is room for the friends on this board who use HE and those who need to do something else?

I have been struggling for about 4 months, with my diet program...First Atkins, then HE, then back to Atkins, then back to HE, then nothing, and on it goes
. Finally, after much soul searching, and prayer, I went back to what Joanna and my cousin both have said. Find something that you can stick to for the rest of your life, and go for it. Well Atkins, was not it. I could barely stay on it for 1 week, this year at least.
Last year I did well on it. But it was still a diet, and I dieted myself up to 247 pounds over the years. Atkins was a diet for me...and I knew that I could not stay on it forever...
So I decided to go back to HE. I can stay on this forever, because it is the kind of cooking that I always did, during my Un-diet times...
This has been really hard for me to make a decision...I don't know why.
But I feel good with my decision. really good
A relief even...
Is anyone else doing HE anymore?
