I remember wearing pinafores when I had pigtails. That was back in grade school.
Judy, I use to sew a lot and took pattern making classes for awhile. Always was making something. Then I went to work and didn't have time to experiment any more. Now I don't even like to sit at the sewing machine as I get an instant back ache.
DD stopped by today and said GS is taking a cooking class at school. He had been told it was an easy class. Maybe he'll have to eat things he says he doesn't like but never has tired. I think it is great. His dad sure doesn't do much cooking. Now #1 son can cook and bake. His favorite is to make DIL a cheesecake for special occasions.
I have done nothing today but read. Read the Sunday paper and then fiinished my book I started yesterday.

My son said when he lived in Portland there were places you'd see things "left" for geo-caching and I have seen one spot here in a rather prominent place (if you're walking) where some unusual things are setting.
I haven't thought of pinafores in ages! My aunts had a card playing friend who made me an apron before I left for home at the end of summer. I loved that apron!

I know of several people who are really active with Geo-caching. They also have a lot of fun. Their areas are much larger, but they are much older and more able to take care of themselves.
We had snow this morning when I got up. Most of it is gone now, but it didn't make me happy to see it in the first place. I wish this cold would go away. I am happy about one thing though. This snow means there is measurably more snow in the mountains. I heard on Friday that Washington has 115% of the normal moisture stored in the snow on the mountains. That is wonderful. It has been a very long time since our mountains have had enough moisture to meet the state's needs without depleting the stored water. Hopefully, the runoff won't come fast and there will be less danger of forest fires.
As I have driven around this area in the past few weeks I have been amazed at the numbers of areas where the trees have all been cut. I am opposed to clear cutting, but there is little I can do to prevent it. I have seen one block of land where the trees have been thinned not clear cut and that area looks beautiful. Now they can plant small trees to come up around the remaining big trees and the forest will continue to be healthy and harvestable
I think I told you last evening about making yeast pancakes. I had some dough left over, so this morning I used that last bit of dough after adding a pinch of baking soda and the pancakes were wonderful. Even Gidget thought so. She licked off both of our plates after we finished eating the pancakes. I will try that method again soon. I just used Krusteaz pancake mix with a package of dry yeast, canola oil and the normal amount of water. That recipe is well worth saving.
Later today I am going to try to get a sourdough started. I read all about how last evening. I don't like the San Francisco sourdough, but the one my daughter started when we were in Alaska was wonderful. I now know that the airborne bacteria in different places makes the flavor of the sourdough different. Since it is very cool and moist here I think a starter made here should taste much sweeter as I prefer. Therefore, I will make a starter now instead of waiting until it gets warmer outside.
Obviously you can see that I like experimenting. I do that almost everywhere in my life. I have done it with my crocheting and knitting. I took many classes to learn how to sew, but even there I am inclined to experiment. I want to do some pinafores for my great-granddaughters. Those are inspired by my grandmother. She always made a new pinafore for me when I visited her. She always embroidered something on the pinafore. Those were among my favorite clothes.
I need to get off the computer now and do something useful. What that might be I haven't a clue, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
See you all later.
The kids had a great time at geo caching. They got 2 out of 3 of them. Kaley (8 yr old) met the girl next door and played on their trampoline. She sure had fun.
ANN - With not having the last trial we do not know if the kids will be going to Oregon or back to Arizona. They lived in Arizona for 10 years before their mom took off with them 5 months ago. My son just filed for temporary custody and to put them in school till the real trial sometime in June. The judge did not give him temporary custody because there is only 2 months of school left so just gave him 10 days a month till the real trial, sometime in June.
So we are waiting to see if in the next trial the kids will come back to AZ and go to school.
Just have to wait and see.
JUDY - this geo caching is suppose to be everywhere. We are not a huge area and it was here in one of the parks. My son just went on line and found it. The kids had a blast.
Yes I am happy and having a great time. A little weary from the trip. My son did the dishes tonight so I can rest.
Nina, Even with a sore rib you sound so happy. I don't think I am projecting either. I wonder if your son and family are geo caching I have been very curious about doing that. I wonder if there are directions for my area? I'll have to check it out later.
I woke up late this morning feeling miserable. After two hours I went back to bed and slept a long time, but I don't feel so uncomfortable now. I think I slept off the beginnings of some kind of bug. Now I have to go get something to eat.
I was planning to make yeast pancakes this morning, but all but one of the recipes I found called for letting the batter rest and rise overnight. I wasn't in that kind of mood. We will see what I figure out.
Right now it will be quick and easy and low calories and carbs. I'll search the kitchen and see what it has to offer.
See you all later.
Nina, sounds like the kids might be doing geo gaching. Not spelled right I'm sure. I use to get car sick as a kid. Get them some Life Saver candy or Tootsie Pops to suck on. I also can't believe that the DIL doesn't have to meet you 1/2 way for the kid trade or else trade off delivering and pick up. How is this going to work once they are back in school?

Ready everyones replys but do not have time to answer all of you.
Just a quick note - we left at 6am and got home 9pm. Long day in the suburban. I took ear phones and a book and enjoyed the trip. Only problem was the 8 year old had a small case of the stomach flu and we did not know the other kids ha already had it. EX does not communicate. Because 2 of the kids can get car sick we had stuf (thank goodness). She was much better by afternoon and slept most of the trip. I tried to opening my door to get out and ramed my elbow into my rib and am very sore. Not use to child safety doors that do not open. They are heavy doors and I have to push hard to get them open. After that my son would get out and just open it for me.
They are at the park doing some kind of treasure hunt that is done all over the US. It is an online thing. Papa went with them as he had stayed home so he gets some time with the kids.
I am doing laundry for kids and resting my rib.
You all have a great day-may be busy this week with the kids.
Jan, I have vertical blinds in all three bedrooms. They have sheer fabric attached and I have no idea how to even dust them. I did finish cleaning all three bedroom windows and the two bathrooms plus the screens cleaned. There are four small screens on the louvers windows that the screens have to come off from out side to be cleaned. That is DH job. Not sure when that will get done. He gets to do the outside of all the windows.
At 9 a.m. when I brought the paper in it was warm and sunny out side. Now it is very gray and no sun. DH has gone to GS basketball game so I think when I get off the computer I will start a book. I need to keep my mind off sweets. I have had a terrible sweet tooth lately.
Judy, you are doing greating with the decluttering of closets and drawers. When I get in the mood I need to try on some summery clothes again. I'm sure there are some that won't fit.
Louise. in the past when I've had my eyes dilated I've driven myself home but last time DH went with me and I was so glad he drove home. It took a very long time before I felt like my eyes were back to normal.
We sure haven't heard from Glenna in a while. I do wonder how Sarah is doing and if she got home. I hope Glenna's DHs shoulder is well enough he can do some light chores. Glenna has had a very busy load.
Patty, enjoy your relaxing day. I made a big chicken pot pie last night so tonight we get left overs. all week Ihave been filling the freezer with left overs but not the pot pie. I need a day off of cooking.

Good morning everyone,
I'm glad to say I am feeling better. Can't remember if I told you labs were normal and I was able to take Immodium. Today I hope to get back out to walk - if it's too rainy I'll do treadmill.
I'm watching an old black & white Perry Mason movie (not Raymond Burr) on TCM. Lately they have been showing one of the movies Saturday mornings.
Patty the snow sounds beautiful except it would be nicer if it were early December. Have fun with he afghan.
Louise, You need to pipe some of that warm air over to Patty's and Glenna's. Hope your daughter does well with her eye exam.
Since I'm off Metformin and only testing my blood sugar once a day my morning blood sugar has crept up to 115 this morning. I expect exercise will help that. Last Saturday (the day I got so sick) I walked over 10,000 steps. Just doesn't seem fair a person does the "good" thing and there's a bad reaction. A lot of us have health things that make a big bump in our road to goal.

Good Morning Patty and all who will follow!
Patty, I am so sorry you are getting snow again. I remember when I was going to college in Boston years and years and years ago we kept getting snow storms after snow storms. That year it snowed until the middle of May!!! That did not happen very often but that year it did!
It is suppose to be 90 degrees out and sunny. This means if it is going to be 90 now we are in for a really HOT, HOT summer!!
I am bringing DD to her eye exam. They might be dilating her eyes so she needs someone to drive her home.
Then grocery shopping and back to Spring Cleaning!
HAVE A REALLY GREAT SATURDAY EVERYONE!
Good snowy morning to you girls,
It is gently snowing, The driveway and car are covered, though now with much snow...It is only 30 out right now, and overcast, rain and snow predicted for today...brrr
We saw our friends yesterday afternoon. Had a nice visit.
I was working on the afghan this morning. I have strip 2 finished and joined to strip 1...woohoo, only 7 more to go. Should be easy peasy. Yes, I love that saying, easy peasy, and say it as often as I can...lol
Have a blessed day girls.
I will be staying inside today, staying warm by the fire...crocheting, knitting and reading, watching tv, a lazy day to make up for the last 3.
