It's getting late here. We had a very nice afternoon. We were almost the last couple to arrive for the lunch at the restaurant down the road. We should have known everyone would be there at least 1/2 an hour ahead of time. I got lots of hugs. Some of the couples aren't camping anymore but love to come when we lunch out. I think we should do it on a monthly basis. 22 people DH bought some of the restaurant bakery pies for every one to share. Two couples drove over from the desert where they are staying before returning to Oregon where there home is. They come south when it gets cold up there.
One couple came home with us and we played Mexican Train Dominoes for the rest of the afternoon.
DS said DIL is two hours from home but stopped at a motel for the night. Patty, I can't believe the list of services she found for her dad there in Mi.. Especially for the little town he lives in. I hope he behaves himself and doesn't complain. He wants to stay in the senior apartment and if these services cut him off from him being a pain he'll end up in an assisted living place. He won't like that at all. I know poor DIL is going to worry her self sick when she's home. She is a born worrier. She has a brother but he hasn' t been in the picture for quite a few years. She and her dad have cut them selves off from him.
All this activity today and i'm ready for a long night of sleep.
I am at my daughters now. We are going shopping in jsut a few minutes. There are a few things o couldn't get to when I was in Seattle.
I want to check at Trader Joe's for freeze dried mangos, I want to pick up some sugar free preserves at Bi-mart where they are on sale, and there are several things I need from Fred Meyer because I wasn't able to get there when I was in Seattle.
Ann, The food bank where I work is set up in a line and the packer and client go down the line together and the client tells the packer what to include in their bags. Those of us who work there get what ever is left. In my case that means I can share.
I want to thank you for the idea. I will get some of those cheap baskets before we clean out the chest freezer and use them to keep like things in one place. I really liked that idea.
Hi Everyone I got to do some scrap booking today, in between going to town and warming up lunch. I did get one page done. My DD#1 called me and we ended up talking for awhile. I was able to keep within my calories even with an ice cream cone for snack tonight.
Patty-our snow is melted now and we were around 70 degrees. I opened the whole house and aired it out. Will cool down Monday again. I am getting arthritis in 2 fingers on my left hand. When it acts up I have problems too opening things an hanging on.
Judy- not exactly spring yet. Just feels like it but it is too early up here at 7,000. We can get snow in April.
Ann-I think Love it or Leave it is in Canada. They do seem all the same. I like all the buying houses programs as I love looking at different houses without going out to do it:). I like the remodel of some of them, but the colors are getting as crazy as the 60's. I love the Pickers programs on the History channel. On Saturday the History channel sometimes have neat programs on.
Need to go to bed. I did not go till 1:30 last night or morning how ever you want to say it.
Ann, brother is doing ok, though he tires very easily. I just talked to him...
As far as fixing suppers, hubby is fixing our supper tonight. Baked fish, and hash browns, with baby carrots and grape tomatoes on the side...yum
If something were to happen to one of us, I would prefer it happen to me, as he can do everything that I do, but I can't do everything that he does. Like cut the wood, or get on the roof to clean out the chimney, things like that...and strong man things, like I can't open many lids, as neither of my thumbs works right. I broke my right thumb a long long time ago, like as a kid. Never set. Then a couple of years ago, I broke my left thumb at MOm's remember when I fell on the ice in her driveway. I never had that set either, so I do not have much strength in either hand...
Good Afternoon. I'm back from my hearing aid app't (no changes from two years ago) and then I went to Penny's Strange to find cotton capri's in the petite section of Alfred Dunners but none in the regular sizes. I did not even look in the plus size stuff. Yeah. I did get two pair of capri's in petite and two pair of long slacks in regular size. The long pants are polyester which I would have preferred a cotton blend at least, but they had none. These will get me by for a while. No cotton blouses other than tee's. The blouses were more sheer poly that are dressier than I wear. I'm pretty casual. I do have plenty of blouse even though they are on the big side.
Glenna, how is your DH doing? Have you talked to Sarah lately. I think of her every day.
Nina, I like to watch HGTV also. Much better than many of the TV shows on this past season. I do like the Love It or List It but is it just me that all the houses they remodel are build the same. They don't remodel them the same but they all seems to have the same basic floor plans. I wonder if they are all in Canada. I like Property Virgins and the house hunters in foreign country's. I'm not so much into the remodeling shows.
Judy, when you are giving out food at the Food Bank do you ever have or can the people not take some items that they would not eat.? I ask because DS says his FIL doesn't like peanut butter nor pasta. His DD told him to just give it back so some one else would be able to use it. DS says he eats really strange things like pigs feet and cabbage. I guess it is what you grow up eating. My DS loves casseroles and as he called them newspaper recipes. DIL never ate that way growing up.
Judy, my mother had three freezers. Two chest and one upright. In the chest ones she kept like items in cheap plastic baskets to sort them out and make it easy to find things. Also made it easy to rotate the older things too.
Patty, I have felt just fine following surgery. I never did have any pain, just didn't have a lot of energy. I've fixed suppers every night since I've been home. I have really done quickie meals that don't take a lot of time preparing though. DH is the chief dish washer and does clean around the house except he doesn't dust. How is your bother doing? Is he married or does he live alone? My knitting has slacked off a little.
Good morning Patty, Spring officially begins next Wednesday. I am anxiously awaiting its coming abundance. I want to pick up some seeds and get them growing. It is about time to get the peas in the ground. I took out the remnants of last year's plantings a couple of days ago and found in one of the planters a couple of carrots growing. I had not time carrots had such a long germination period.
I am going to have yet another busy day today. I will finish up on the corned beef and cabbage dinner so Carol can just heat it up if I don't come home until Sunday afternoon. The last time I drove after dark I went off the road twice. I will be home before dark from now on.
Gotta run now. I may drop-in again after I get down to my daughter's.
Good morning Girls, We had church already, while I was knitting away...
lunch at senior center. Can you believe that March is half gone already. I just can't believe it. In a couple of weeks, we move back upstairs to the small wood stove. We converted our garage to a family room. It was going to be an apartment for DS, but he changed his mind, and we had already started, so just made it into another family room. So we have two of them. It has been sunny here the past week for a few days. Not today gray skies. Only in the 30's. Around 34 yesterday.
Nothing much to report. Gosh, looking out at all the snow we still have, it seems impossible that in a couple of weeks it will be spring here. Maybe it won't...who knows. It is snowing out. Supposed to get around 5 or 6 inches today...we shall see
Working on that T top sweater. Am doing it in the round to the underarms, then the top parts separately. I have about 6 1/2 inches, and I need 8 1/2 inches. Should get there today, yes?
Nothing else to report. have a blessed day girls.
Ann how are you feeling, since your surgery? Are you all recovered?
