Good morning ladies, It is four fifty nine now and I have done all the things I normally do for SparkPoints with one exception. I'll do that later today. Seems many of us are sleepless, but I think I am the closest to Seattle.
I finished one book earlier and put another beside my bed. I have been doing a lot more reading lately. I had gotten out of the habit and it seems to be back again. I think that has to do with running out of things to do on the computer.
Tonight/this morning I have been researching seasoning recipes. I found several and read several recipes along the way. My recipe collection grows by leaps and bounds when I start looking for something. I had no idea there were so many kinds of curry seasoning. I watched a short video yesterday about peppers, specifically hot peppers. I learned that Scotch Bonnet peppers were among the hottest of the peppers and the recipe I found for Jamacian Curry seasoning calls for those peppers to be added at the last minute. I think I'll skip that part. I like hot foods, but I've lost my taste for the really searing heat of some foods.
My eyes are drooping so I think I'll go lay down. I'll see you all later today.
Hi everyone Slept like a baby last night it was the night before I could not sleep. It always happens around a full moon or just after. Cleaned house for the Super Bowl Get together tomorrow. I am making some quick Sparkpeople recipes for the occasion. Then I plan to make some brownies I saw on line that you buy a brownie mix and just add black beans pureed. I also put a tenderloin in the crock pot and put BBQ Sauce on top and will cook it all night for pulled pork sandwiches. We are having sunny weather today but they say rain or snow coming. Patty-sounds like you were busy again today with the snow.
Judy-I know what you mean about the sweet tooth. My honey brought home a "Eating Right" Vanilla No sugar added light ice cream and it was actually really good. I did add some chocolate syrup and chopped almonds.
Ann-no I am not living in the trailer right now-as soon as I can I will tell everyone what is going on-it is a big trial for our family-so cannot say right now.
Patty- I do not trust that ground hog either, we can have snow as late as April here. Nina
Girls, I do not trust that ground hog...no sir, I do not. Feb. is our worst month usually, and we have lots of snow...
I hope my lack of sleeping, is not rubbing off on you girls...hoping you can sleep tonight.
Ann, use those baby yarns held together as 1 strand of worsted weight yarn..easy peasy and so pretty for your hats. And it would be nice and soft for chemo patients, or for you, if you need more chemo.
What was the result of your surgery. Did they get all the cancer out?
ok, time for bed, to wind down from the day, and watch tv...hopefully to sleep later.
What's with the not sleeping last night. I could not sleep either. I was real comfortable in bed but could not turn the brain off. I even had taken an Advil when I went to bed to relax me. Maybe I just went to bed too early. I finally went to the bathroom at 2:30 and again at 5 and still no slleep. Once Dh got up at 6 I think I did nod off for an hour. I generally am a good sleeper and nothing hurts.
Jan, the scale said 133 this morning. You know that is a lot of loose flesh. That is less than I weighed when we were married. I weighed 135 then. My 2X PJ bottoms won't stay up. They do have a draw string and elastic.
Judy, your squash for supper sounds good. I have some frozen in the freezer. Dh has gone to the store for a broasted chicken. I've never boughten one before but DD likes them. My mother use to keep them in the freezer too.. I'm also going to have DD pick us up a precooked pkg of meat loaf and mashed potatoes at Costco on Monday. I'm trying to make it easy for DH. I sure had my blood poked a lot in the hospital. Even had insulin several times. Dr. said to get some hard candy but she didn't say sugar free. Once they took it just after eating a hard butterscotch sugar free that was pretty good. I never heard of the brand before.
Nina, nice to see you posting again. Are you still living in the trailer.
Patty, want some baby yarn? I have 1/2 a skein of pink, 2 skeins of white and 3 skeins of acqua/green. All have silvery threads in it. Very pretty.
I got a shower this morning and washed my hair, then blew it dry. Boy that tired me out. Our temps were to get up to 69 but the sun has been in and out and I have the heat on now. I sure hope Phil is right that no more storms. The rest of the country needs to get some normalcy in their lives..
The sun is shining brightly here in Washington state, at least on the west side of the Cascade mountains. I don't know what is happening on the east side. Our state is divided by two ranges of mountains and the weather can be drastically different in each segment. In the central or Puget Sound area the weather can be different from the south side of the central area. The weather patterns here are strongly influenced by the mountains, the ocean, the sound and the Columbia River, so there are four distinctly different weather patterns.
Well now that I've given you a lesson in local climatology. I guess that Puxatauny Phil, predicted an early spring. That makes me very happy. I will soon be able to get out and do things.
I am interested in your ponchos. How big are they? Two skeins of yarn isn't very much. I am sure I used more skeins than that for my poncho. I wish I still had that pattern. I am going to contact the yarn companies and see if they can republish that pattern.
I am also going to do some research among the Spark Recipes to find something interesting I can make for dinner. I have some kabocha squash and some spinach so I will be looking in that direction.
Yesterday I drank my water and ate according to plan, until last evening when I succombed to my craving for something sweet, I ate a lot of a bag of Heath English Toffee Bits. I expected my BS this morning to be out of sight but it was only 96. I can't complain about that can I .
I read until 5:30 this morning, I couldn't go to sleep so I woke up late today. I haven't yet had breakfast, but I have taken my pills and have gotten a very good start on my water consumption. I'll talk with you all later.
Good morning Girls, 12 degrees here today, and gray skies. Probably more snow too. Who knows, who cares. I just like to hear how the weather is, in your part of the country.
Nothing happening here today. I did finish loom knitting the 2 sides of the poncho. Now, I need to sew them together, and make the neck area...have never made a poncho like this, so we shall see. If it works out, I can make another one, just like this first one. As I only used 2 skeins of the baby clouds yarn, and I have 4 skeins...we shall see how it turns out. They will be for the nursing home that Mom was in...if they turn out ok...
ok, now. How was yesterday?
did you move? yes, I shoveled snow off the back deck, and the back landing to the small wood pile for the small stove.
today will be shoveling off the front deck, and the side landing to the big wood pile for the big stove...
we will also be bringing the wood box down from the small stove and filling it up with wood too, so it can dry a bit better, as it keeps snowing on the wood outside, and freezing it all together. We have it covered with tarps, but it keeps getting in there anyway. So we will have 2 wood boxes down there for the big stove...
