Doctors office called this afternoon an said my chest xray was normal so now I have a Dr. app't on Tues. and surgery scheduled on Friday the 25th. That is our son's birthday. The one that lives in N.C.
Today is going to be another beautiful day once the house gets warmed up by the sun outside. I don't have any plans. One thing that is driving me crazy is trying to find a recipe that I remember very well but not the exact ingredients. It has Uncle Ben's Converted rice in it so I'm going to try their web site. It is a one pot dish with gr. beef, rice, black beans and canned tomatoes. It makes a lot and freezes well. I've made it for a pot luck. But darn now where is it filed. Maybe it has chicken instead of beef and I looked in my chicken file too. I bet there is a copy of it in the motor home because it is so easy.
Dr. office called last night that my chest xray was normal. She said Dr. had not seen it yet so I'm sure she hadn't seen the lab results. She said if Dr. didn't call me today it would be early next week with the surgery schedule. So I know nothing.
I should be cooking up stuff to freeze so when I get home there will be some ready made meals. DH is not a cook but he just may have to be one. He can cook but says it takes him too long to put a meal together. Poor boy. Neither one of us grill.
It really is a good morning for me. Yesterday at the food bank was phenomenal. We had way more food to give out than ever before. The weather was sunny and warm, the cold snap has finally broken. People were far more cheerful than usual and there was a lot of talk, banter and especially laughter as the food was distributed.
I think I've told you before that I truly love working at the food bank. I feel so privileged that they allow me to participate and job they've given me is perfect. I sign people in and register them for the next distribution day. I regulate the flow of the clients through the line to pick up their groceries. That way the woman who packs their bags doesn't get rushed and each client gets all the things they want. It is a wonderful job for me. Lots of interaction with our clients.
I picked James up and then brought him home to stay for a few days. He will be here until his next medical appointment. He will also visit many of his friends up here. So he won't be in this house constantly.
James brought in the many bags of groceries from the food bank and we sorted them and put them in their proper places. You should see my cupboards, they are full to the brim. What a wonderful thing. I always feel better when I know we have plenty of food in the house.
My doctor has prescribed a new medication. She warned me that it would make me sleepy and possibly dizzy so she told me to take it immediately before I went to bed. For the first time in months I slept straight through the night. No waking at two am. What a wonderful feeling. This morning my feet didn't feel as if I had sand between my toes and on the ball and there were no wake-up kind of stars either. I am very happy this morning.
Did I eat right yesterday. Much better than usual. We had chili for dinner last night because I thought the spices would make us feel warmer. That proved to be a good thing. We watched a movie and went to bed early.
I have a new caregiver starting this afternoon, (yet again.) Her commute here will be considerably shorter than the last two ladies and she might just stay a little longer. I am scouting for a replacement if she doesn't. I talked yesterday with the Pastor of the church were we have food bank and he knows of a couple of men who are looking for work. They are training to be EMTs so they won't be put off by having to do the more personal parts of this job.
I need to go fix breakfast now. I can hear that James is awake and I know he needs to eat right away. His medicine requires that he eat with regularity.
Good morning Girls, This year is going by so fast. Already the 18th of Jan. 2/3 gone...
It is 14 degrees out there today...brrr the wood stove was silent when we came downstairs, so the house is a bit chilly. Not bad at all, and no trouble getting the stove going again. It will just take a bit of time to heat back up. Now it is usually around 80 in the room where the stove is, it is about 72 down there. So you can see that we are not hurting at all...lol
