I made up my mind - I want to spend New Years Eve very comfortable so I put my nightie and robe and slippers on. Feet up on the hassock. I am comfy!

Jan, I am praying you feel better. I am also praying for Sarah. Actually, I pray for all you ladies.
We did end up going out tonight. It is 8:40p.m. My post might say something else because I never changed the time on it. Anyway, we met out friends (DD's BF's parents) at a Chinese Rest. that we all like very much. We had a Great time talking and eating and laughing. DD is out with Best Friend. I realize that BF could mean Boyfriend but in this case no--I mean my daughter's best friend--they are more like sisters than just friends. BF's husband was not feeling well so just the two of them went out. They were going out to dinner and then to either a movie or bowling. I am not sure what they did after dinner. I am praying for their safety. Once you are a mother, it does not matter how old your adult children are--you are still concern for their safety.
Well, everyone, please have a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve.
When I got up it was 33 degrees and now it's that again. We may get a bit of snow tonight but don't expect it to stay. I can see snow on the distant mountains.
I met a friend for coffee this morning. We wanted to visit but didn't want to spend a wad on a cup of coffee so she told me McDonalds serves coffee - any size - for $1 so that's what we did. I have rarely been in McD's and was surprised at how busy it was.
I was queasy a lot of the day. I'm still suspicious it might have to do with my vision so I'm trouble shooting.
We have one of those cardboard archive boxes that I had autumn things stored in. It never got put in the attic. Our old kitty, Bobbi, has such a time getting down from a chair or the sofa so this Christmas we started putting the archive box up to the chair and she is so grateful.
I pulled out my new 2013 calendars to put up. One is Linda Nelson Stock - I love her friendly scenes. The back of the calendar says she made calendars for Lang for many years but she died last year and this calendar is a memorial to her. Also found out if you go to Lang.com there's a place where you can download free wallpaper. Lots of fun designs. All you do is click on the picture you like, right click on your mouse, and select "set as background". Some pcs may say something else but it's pretty straight forward.
Patty, I talk about making Joanna pies but my fridge is so stuffed between our groceries and DS's- it doesn't happen. Hopefully when he is on his own at some time in the future I can get back to that.
Glenna, That's interesting about the statue. Thank you for updating us on Sarah.
Judy, What kind of challenge are you in with TOPS? My group starts up again this Wednesday and we'll see how that goes.
Louise, Lazy days are nice every now and then. With my queasyness I'm having quite a few.
Ann, That is horrible about someone stealing your ex-dil's hauler and cycles. I hope the photos are sufficient to catch the culprit and return things.

I am not sure what we are doing tonight. DD is going out to dinner and a movie with her BF and BF's husband. Maybe DH and I will go out to eat. I am not really sure. Or we might just stay home. I hate to admit it but I am actually still in my PJ's. So if we do go out, I will shower and get dressed. I don't think anyone would like to see me in my PJ's!!!!!!
So you can tell it was a lazy day today. We did look at a movie DH and I gave DD for Christmas. It was cute!
I also did dance to my new Elvis CD. DD actually found an Elvis CD that I did not have and she gave it to me for Christmas. Good dancing music.
Yesterday: Yes to drinking my water; Yes to moving--walked; Yes to sticking to my eating lifestyle plan.
Well, everyone, Happy New Year's Eve!
Hi Patty, I like your methodology. I should do something similar, but not with sweets. I prefer salty or savory snacks. Still if I were to make them up and store them in the freezer in single serving packages that would work.
If the snack is downstairs, outside, in the freezer, where I have to move a bunch of junk to open the freezer. I am far less likely to over indulge. I am just too lazy to go to all that trouble.
Yours is a great idea. Thank you.
I have found that if I do not have JoAnna's recipes on hand, like her muffins, her pies, or some kind of sweetie thing, that I start to snack on hubby's sugary snacks. N ot a good thing, so I try to always have some JoAnna recipes made up. I freeze the muffins, and just pop one in the microwave when I want one.
Thankfully they are sugar free, and mostly fat free.
Good afternoon everyone,
I am not doing anything special today, or this evening for that matter. My driveway is still impassible so I can't get out. The house is still cold, so I am staying in my bedroom. The dog is again laying across my arms while I type. Everything is as usual.
Patty, I read your recipe and don't think I'll make it. I am not ready for that much sweet. I am sure it is good and I am equally sure I'd eat way too much of it. As I told you one of my TOPS friends enrolled me in a TOPS contest and I just can't let her down. In addition, We have a contest going in our own club to see who can go the longest in the black. My personal record was fourteen weeks without a gain. That means I need to go a minimum of fifteen weeks to beat my own record. I can do that! So This week I expect to start my "winning" streak. Wish me good health and steady losses.
Ann, If I could get out I would pick up some black eyed peas. I read a recipe for them last night that made my mouth water. That recipe called for lentils. sausage and kale. I would substitute black eyed peas for the lentils, just because this is New Years. However, I do have lentils. No kale, but chicken sausage so I think I can make something that will taste good.
I checked out Bob's Red Mill last night and found they do have a gluten free biscuit mix. In fact they have a whole bunch of gluten free products. The products are very expensive, but if one needs to be gluten free there is a good place to get the products needed. They do ship and they sent me a price list when I was in Texas so that I could order easily. I will go over to their store in Portland the next time I go down to visit my daughter. I love their split peas they are much greener than those I find elsewhere.
I don't have to get out of here except to go to TOPS until the fifteenth. Then I have three doctor's appointments on that day and they are all at midday so I can get back home before it gets too dark. I don't like to drive in the morning because there is a serious rush to get to Seattle and the afternoon rush is even worse. So I try to find a time in between to get up there and back. This schedule is good.
Well, I'm hungry. I think oatmeal is on my agenda for today. I'll be back later.
Good Afternoon. I"ve been on the move this morning. Had to have lab work done and since I was in the building I also had my hearing aids cleaned. Then back to our area and to the bank to get a bunch of check registers. I always start a new one the first of the year. Boy these were old as none had a new year on the calendar. One was 2007. Then to CVS pharmacy for a purchase with a discount coupon and to the grocery store for ice cream that was on sale and I forgot to pick up when I grocery shopped on Thursday.
You ladies with your bread, pies and fruit cake are better at leaving that stuff alone than I am. If it is in the house I want some and want some more and more until it is gone. I do better with the ice cream and then DH has something for dessert. I won't be doing much cooking tomorrow as DH has to have his black eye peas, cornbread and probably ham. I bet he stops at the grocery store to pick them up with out even checking to see if they are in my supplies. I never heard of this on NY day until I married a southerner.
Yes, I still use Joanna's recipes but not all the time. A lot of the time I'm not even using a recipe with a meat, and vegetables for supper.
DH just called that he'd be late coming home from the shop as he had to make a run south of town. Then he told me that the EX DIL got a call from the police that her toy hauler had been stolen from the storage lot where she stores it. It was loaded with her and the kids motor cycles. Also another one was stolen too. The lot has pictures of them cutting the fence and
taking them. That is the same storage lot that DD has her trailer in. It is a small older one and not worth much. DIL was fairly new. She is out of town and told DS she and her boy friend would be on their way home. Sure spoils their week end holiday.

Hi Ladies, How is everyone doing on this last day of 2012?
It is cloudy here and looks like we will get some rain or snow. Most likely snow!
I spoke to Sarah for just a minute today. She doesn't sound any better. Still short of breath and coughing. She said it wasn't pneumonia. I didn't hear the rest of what she said and didn't ask her to repeat it. It is difficult to hear her. I assured her that all her HE friends were praying for her. I'll keep you posted.
I ran across something interesting in our local paper today. Fairmont is a city in WV that is about 75 minutes drive from where I live. They were talking about repairing the Madonna of the Trail statue. So I looked it up online and found some interesting things.
August Leimbach made the statues, a dozen of them. They have a 10 foot tall woman on a 6 foot base and weigh 5 tons. The first Madonna statue was put in Springfield, OH on July 4, 1928. It is to honor pioneer mothers of covered wagon days. The one in wheeling, WV was put up on July 7, 1928. It was often called the Ocean to Ocean highway. And it was the first interstate established by an act of Congress in 1806.
I thought that was kinda interesting. I had never heard of it before. Well that's my tid bit of knowledge for the day! lol

Good morning Girls,
Do you have any plans for tonight?
We are going to DSand DDIL around 6, to play dice, and have snackies, cheese and crackers, etc. I am taking Fruit Cocktail Chiffon pie. My favorite pie ever. ever...
I made Heartland mac and cheese the other night from Man in Mind. So yummy...oh my, so good.
What JoAnna recipes have you made in this past week?
Anyone else using her recipes still?
I made up a pie recipe. Frankly, I was too lazy to look up Joyful Almond or something like that.
So I took
1 pkg. vanilla sfff pudding mix
1 pkg. chocolate sfff pudding mix
1 1/3 cup dry milk powder
2 TB. sliced almonds
2 TB coconut
`1 cup cool whip, divided
2 1/2 cup water
1 tb. mini choc. chips
graham cracker pie crust
Mix the vanilla and chocolate puddings, with the dry milk powder.
Add the water.
then add the sliced almonds, most of the coconut, and 1/2 cup cool whip.
Put into graham cracker pie shell.
top with 1/2 cup cool whip
then sprinkle rest of coconut on top
then sprinkle mini choc chips on top
slice into 8 servings and enjoy
ok, how was yesterday?
did you move?
yes, in the stores in town
did you drink your water?
did you stick to your lifestyle food plan?
Let's make this year a healthy year.
