I'm in Vancouver now. Can you imagine all in one day, Seattle, Rt. Rainier and Vancouver. Lots of fun. Thanks for the tip Jan, I'll try to check it out, but right now my family is teasing me about the several bags of groceries from Uwajimaya. They like to tease me about my shopping fun.

I got my shingles shot after several hours of mix-up. The clinic pharmacy and my office couldn't figure things out. Finally after two hours they figured out who would give me the shot and where. Then we started to go to Uwajimaya to pick up the Hawaiian Pineapple Mustard that we can't find anywhere else. Michael got Samosas and salads for our lunch and we left for my place. It took us less than ten minutes at my house to pick up the stuff we had to bring with us and drop off the things we were leaving behind.

Then we went to my friends house to pick up the turkey and potatoes she had for me. They were supposed to get home before three o'clock and they finally arrived at about four-fifteen.
So finally we got underway about four thirty. We had planned to be on the road by noon.

We were planning to go to Frye's in Wilsonville, but when we talked to my daughter as we were approaching Portland she advised us that the freeway was essentially a parking lot from 205 all the way down to Wilsonville. We scratched those plans! So now we are at her house in Vancouver and will go out later to pick up the things we need to finish our feast tomorrow.

In the meantime, we are relaxed and calm for the moment. After that huge lunch we had I am hungry again. That shows me that eating makes me hungry. Maybe thats why I gain so much weight. Ya' suppose?

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Love, Judy emoticon

There is a wonderful Middle Eastern store in a strip mall in Beaverton - Rose's? Something like that. There is a Shari's beside the strip mall. Wonderful things there and very nice people. Something else I miss about Portland is the Greek festival in SE Portland - September I think. emoticon

I've been to the Uwajimaya in Raleigh Hills several times. That is one of the good things about the possiblity of moving near Vancouver. There are also the middle-eastern community, Trader Joe's, several Wincos, Frye's, Bob's Red Mill and last but not least Sweet Tomatoes restaurant. Oh I forgot, Sauvie Island Farms. I am sure there are many other things I am excited to discover. Best of all is I will be close to two of my grandsons.

We went to the downtown Uwajimaya today and discovered many new things. One of the things we found was Garlic Tabasco. We haven't seen that since we visited Avery Island in 2000. Of course, we came out with yet another basket, (the hand carried type) full. I am getting stocked up for the time when Michael won't be here to go around with me. I really don't want to see him move.

I got my release from the eye surgeon today and ordered my new glasses. The prisms in my glasses will be about twice what they were before. No wonder I couldn't see anymore. I ordered transitional glasses for driving at night. They will always have a brown tint, but at night they will have better contrast so that I may be more comfortable driving after dark. They will be glare proofed too so oncoming headlights won't be such a problem.

Now I am off to bed so that I may get up especially early tomorrow morning. We want to leave for Vancouver very early to beat the Thanksgiving traffic.

See you late tomorrow.

Love, Judy emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Judy, I really miss Trader Joe's. DS went there last weekend when he went to Portland and was reminded what a great store it is. Both of my kids have been to Uwajimaya and love it. I think I've been once- there's one in Beaverton.

I haven't seen the picture of the semi turned over on the bridge yet. We lost power here yesterday and there's absolutely no local coverage during weather problems like in the big cities where the news breaks in most of the day to report on what's going on. I heard from a friend it was on the highest part of the bridge - I don't know why anyone would drive that bridge during winds like that.

So thankful for a quiet, peaceful day today. emoticon

Good evening everyone,

Patty I am so sorry you have the Shingles. I didn't know they were contagious either. I am glad you let us know. I am getting my shot tomorrow. I'd have gotten it today but there was an hour wait for service.

Jan, Did you see the picture of the 18wheeler that got blown around on the Astoria Bridge and closed the bridge. The news said the winds there were 101mph. It reminds me of the Columbus Day storm of 1962

Michael and I went to Trader Joe's and Uwajimaya today. We picked up some interesting condiments, which was the purpose of the trip. We got Cranberry and pineapple mustard, Curry Catsup and Thai hot curry mayonnaise. I am having Salisbury Steak tonight with little dips of the various sauces. Let me tell you the two mustards and the curry catsup are to die for and the Thai Mayonnaise which I'd had before is wonderful. I love trying out all these great flavors.

One of the things we indulged in this morning for breakfast was Trader Joe's Sushi, Spicy California roll. We both like that one. We also tried their Buffalo Chicken Wrap and weren't impressed, but the Spicy Lentil Wrap was great. The Tahini Sauce that came with the lentil wrap was excellent. All these wonderful foods and I stayed within my carbs allowance. That feels so good. It helps to share, then I can maintain moderation.

I'm off to bed early tonight. I took a nap this afternoon, but Michael didn't so he is going to chase me out this evening. I'll talk more with you all later.

Love, Judy emoticon

Sorry to hear you got shingles and miss Thanksgiving with family, Patty. Ann had a good suggestion.

We lost our power this afternoon- came back on thankfully around 7.

Patty, I am sorry. I didn't realize that shingles were contagious until DH sister in law said she was for 10 days. Just let the rest of them family fix T day dinner and bring you a nice hot plate of food. ((((((((((((((((((Big Hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))

Patty, do you have Shingles? That is what it sounds like. If so I hope you got to your doctor right away for a shot. They are no fun. DH sister in law in Texas who is 94 has them. I can't believe she never had the shingles shot. If it is more like hives like I had after the MRI I was told to take Benadryl at night and in the morning an Alavert. I didn't have and burning or pain. I hope your kitchen gets fixed or if it doesn't let someone else do the big T day dinner.

Louise, it is fun to go to a big T day dinner with a group. We did that one time with DH's sister who had the smallest kitchen ever, and she wasn't a cook either. Happy Anniversary. My mothers house is almost just due north of Sturbridge. Sturbridge is off of I-90 and Orange is on Rt. 2. I've never been to Old Sturbridge Village. My dad drove us down there once when we were first married but he just drove through the town and then back home. I was disappointed.

DH got his turkey breast last night. DD says she is going to fix the potatoes and squash which I already have. Potatoes are sure cheap now but we don't eat a lot of them and in our warmer temperature they don't last long. I'll fix a jello fruit salad that has a custard topping they the kids like and probably make cheese biscuits. Not sure on dessert. I don't think DD or DS like pumpkin pie but DH does. I may make him an impossible one. It is very easy. I bought a German Choc. cake mix on sale today and that sounds good to me. We are going to have our dinner Wed. night so the kids can go to the desert early Thur. morning. Then they will get a second turkey dinner out there and mom and dad will be eating left overs.

I was so disappointed last night at the soup and salad restaurant as I had gotten an email from them that through Sunday the dessert was a pumpkin like dish with pecan crunch on top. Sounds like a recipe I have that uses a cake mix. Anyway they were out of it. The manager said if we wanted to wait for one to bake he found one in the refrig. We passed as they had their choc.lava cake which is my next favorite.

I'm up to eye balls, bows and glue with my snowmen nut cups. Making the little bows is the hardest part. I sorta have an assembly line set up. I do a few and then leave for something else.

Patty. WalMart had a new color yarn that is Coral. Looks more pumpkin color to me but is very pretty and soft. The Red Heart LOVE yarn is a wee bit more expensive but is nice and soft.

Sarah, I should get like you and clean out my refrig more often. My shelf in the bottom freezer that I keep ice cube trays and ice cube bin on, gets really funny looking. It looks like rust but it isn't and only gets on the part of the shelf that is open with nothing sitting on it. I bought some CLR to see if that will work. I don't have a sink or container big enough to put the shelf in and I don't want to use the tub , So I'll have to lay out some newspapers and spray the shelf. I also threw away two bags of cocktail size meat balls. I just do not like either of them. I was going to put them in the slow cooker with grape jelly and chili sauce for our camp out but decided I didn't want to do that either. Out they went. We do like the Foster Farm turkey meat balls in our spaghetti sauce but these cocktail ones had a funny taste. I hate wasting food but didn't want anyone to get sick.

Louise, DH got to see Sturbridge Village many years ago when he was sent nearby to work for a few weeks. It sounds like a wonderful place to see.

Sarah, We lost Murder She Wrote with a power blip. We just heard there was a gust of 92 here- I think I know which one that was. Our neighbor's mailbox fell over and Bruce went out to keep another neighbor's garbage cans from blowing down the hill. What a day. emoticon

Hi Everyone

Patty so sorry about the shingles and your water problems. It is hard being without water. Fingers crossed that it gets fixed easily and fast. The scarves are so pretty!

Jan I love the memories too. It is a lot of fun to read the traditions of everyone's family. I watch Murder She Wrote also. Louise got me started reading the books.

Louise your Thanksgiving sounds like so much fun! How is your daughter feeling? Hope that she and your DH are doing well.

Judy I hope you have a wonderful time with your family through the holidays.

Ann I beating you to the draw on posting. You use to always beat me. Hope your hubby found a turkey.

My landlady went to the fruit market and brought me some tomatoes. She is really good about thinking of me like that.

I'm having a laid back day today. I do want to mop and wash down outside of my fridge.

Enjoy the rest of your Monday!

Good Morning Patty and Jan and all who will follow. Well, it is still morning here in Arizona.

Jan, I have been doing well in my eating but I have not been exercising as I usually do due to the phebitis in my left leg. However, it has been going down so maybe in a few days I can get back to the Health Club and pool walk. The club will be opened until 1p.m. on Thanksgiving. I am thinking that I might go early to get in some exercise.

We got invited to one of our daughter's friend's parents house for Thanksgiving. We always have an open invitation to our friends that we usually go over. However, this year her daughter-in-law's nieces and newphews are here in Arizona visiting from Maine. We thought we would give them all a chance to visit by themselves. So we are going over to Sabrina's friends parents house. It should be very interesting and fun---they invited 48 people over! I am bringing a very large salad.

Tomorrow November 20th is my DH and my 36th wedding anniversary. Today would have been my father's 96th birthday. He has been gone for 32 years and I still miss him a lot.

Jan, I hope you all are keeping safe from the wind storm you are having.

Ann, my cousin's daughter lives in the town next to Sturbridge---I cannot remember the name of it. I think that is considered Western Massachusetts--correct? If not, it is very close to Western Massachusetts. I always loved the town of Sturbridge and Old Sturbridge Village.

Patty, I hope your kitchen gets fixed up before Thanksgiving.

Well, everyone, please have a Great Monday! emoticon

GOD BLESS!
Louise

Good Monday morning,

We are in the middle of a windstorm. It woke us up before 5. I thought the cat was scratching on our door but it was wind sounds. They thought it would hit the central coast harder - I hate to think what it is down there!

We're watching old Murder She Wrote's. This one has Dinah Shore, Ralph Wait.

Patty, I sure hope your kitchen gets put back together before turkey day.

I am sticking close to my food plan and drinking water. The "move" part needs some action.

Judy is up in Seattle today.

Louise, let us know how you are doing.

Sarah, I enjoy your sharing topics like "stuffing or dressing". You know I like to remember back. Seems like so long ago that Dad and Mom were here (22 years for Dad and 5 for Mom).

Ann, I love that your DH does the turkey. My oldest son will be a big help with that.

Glenna, How have you been?

Good morning Girls,
My tummy rash is still pretty much the same as it was, but the blisters are covered over now. My right side still burns.
Bah

My kitchen is torn apart right now. I do not have my nice clean kitchen.
I was doing dishes Sat. night, and I heard this water dripping, couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Under the sink, that's right, under the sink.
So I tell hubby, he takes everything out from under there. Thankfully I had recently cleaned under there, so there was not the usual mess, but still all is on the floor by the sink and on the counters.
Can't use my dishwasher at the moment, as he says we have a clog somewhere down the line...bah , so a dishwasher full of dirty dishes. I guess we can take a shower and run the washer. We shall see on that.

But my nice clean kitchen is no more right now. It will soon get back to clean.

The truck is back in the shop. did I already tell you this? We had it towed to the shop. He will be able to get to it first of this week.

I still haven;t heard from 2 of our kids whether they are coming to Thanksgiving or not. I left messages, but they are slow to return them. Kids, right?

Did you move?
no

did you drink your water?
no

did you stick to your meal plan?
no

do you see a habit forming here with me lately? Goodness, I need to get back to my program.

Have a super blessed day girls.
I will get a new pic put up on my blog in 5 min.

Patty
