Patty, Wonder Bread pulled out of San Diego a long long time ago and took their Light hamburger and hot dog buns with them. They were good too.
DH has decided to go looking for a turkey. I think his best bet is a fresh one but only two stores had them advertised and that was 'while supply lasts'. He's the turkey cooker. One of three things he knows how to cook. The other two are canned biscuits and gravy and sandwiches.

Here I am again back from church. Doggone, it's a trick getting my meals right. Bruce and I have loved having the heart smart portion of oatmeal but I'm thinking I might need to do something else for awhile at least. My post breakfast reading was a little higher than I'd like so I wanted to check again at 2 hours and it was much lower. What I should have done was have a snack between Sunday School and church. Before the sermon I knew I should leave and eat an energy bar but I didn't want to disrupt anyone so I sat there and felt hungrier and hungrier and a bit weak. So I dashed out right after church to take care of it but I'm very tired after that. Bleah. I'll be better prepared next week.
Ann, It's so nice you and your family are able to get together for birthday celebrations. I love the Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. It seems to me JoAnna had a version of those I haven't been to Outback- it's interesting that's dgs's choice- probably likes the atmosphere. The commercial I remember from the mid 1950s the Hostess cupcake with the chocolate frosting and white frosting squiggle on the top always looked like a huge, gooey center. Of course when I got one I had to cut it in half to look (like the commercials) and it was just a little blob of gooey center. Makes my mouth water to think of it. Lol.
Sarah, I'm with you - I love Thanksgiving. There was the good, the bad and the ugly, lol. The aroma of turkey roasting, the many side dishes, Mom's good Spode dishes, and if things were really great Aunt Hattie & Aunt Violet would be there. The bad was if Hattie & Violet weren't there but Aunt Luella & Uncle Ed were. They lived in Seattle and their first mission on arriving was to usher Mom's cats and dog outside and proceed to act like elite guests with superior opinions of how everything was supposed to go. Their two kids came with them (this was over Thanksgiving vacation) but they were supposed to have lights out and not talk after 7 or 8 PM. If we giggled in our room after "lights out", Luella would stomp her feet on the floor and scream "Karen (my cousin) BE QUIET!" Maybe that was also "the ugly". Sometime I'll tell you about the children's revenge on such a visit.
Good Morning. I didn't realize I didn't get on here yesterday. We had a shower or two this morning also. DH said it was sprinkling when he got up and and we had another sprinkle after that. The sun has been trying to come out but there are a lot of clouds out there.
Last night we ate out with DS, DD and GS at Red Lobster. This was DD birthday dinner. Her birthday was the end of Oct. Now GS's BD was earlier this month and we have to make that up. He says he wants to go to Outback. I don't know why that impresses him he generally always order fries and chicken fingers or mac and cheese. Our very picky eater. At 14 he still likes the kids menu. I had a couple of their chedddar bay biscuits but the rest of my meal was A OK. Garden salad and entree was a jumbo shrimp cocktail. Now the shrimp cocktail would have been a lot better served in a glass of chopped ice but it came on a warm plate.
Today is Sunday and I'm wondering when DH is going to buy his turkey for our Wed. night Thanksgiving Dinner. This is what the kids have decided and then Thu. morning they will leave for the desert. GS will go with his mother. They will all be in a big group and one of the EX's GF will cook dinner for them all. They generally dig a hole in the sand and wrap the turkey and bury it with fire in the hole. DD says it is delishous. She has to take a couple of pies. She said they always have too much food.
Sarah, do you remember Devil Dogs. I think Hostess made them. Chocolate cake oval shapped with a cream filling in the middle. Maybe that is what Jan was thinking of. I loved those.
Louise and Jan, I take Metforim. 500 mg twice a day. Not for cholesterol or diabetis though, but my oncologist said it should help to reduce the fluid in my stomach. And I think it has. My GP nurse was floored when I listed it as a med when she updated my records and then when my Dr. saw me that she again asked why I was taking it. She said it always amazes her to learn of a med for one thing works for something else.
Louise, where in Western Ma. does your cousin live? My DH checks quite regularly on the temps in Ma.where my mothers house is. He said the other night it was 24 degrees. I remember last year they had a big snow storm around Halloween and then not much the rest of the winter. I don't think the fellow that plows the drive for me had to plow but once after that Oct. storm.

We had 4" of rain yesterday! Last night it just poured and there was thunder and lightening for quite awhile. The cats were all unnerved about that slinking around looking for a safe place. Today high winds are supposed to come in - especially here.
Sunday School and church this morning. Then today I'll start prepping for Thankgiving.
Louise, I didn't realize you were without insurance. I've been there and was so relieved when I finally qualified for Medicare coverage. I hope it works out for you to see the endocrinologist. I wish you well finding a new doctor. There are good ones who communicate well out there.
Patty, I hope things start to get better for you this week.

Good Morning Patty and all who will follow! Patty, I will be praying that you have a better week.
Jan, I do not have medical insurance and the Endocrinologist I want to go to costs about $460 for the first visit--this includes labs and other tests. He specializes in Hashimotto Thyroid and Diabetes among some others conditions. I am trying to save up so I can go to him. The main reason I do not want to take metformin is that I am allergic to a lot of medications and I want a doctor I can talk to about this.
Well, this morning is Church. I am not sure if my husband and I are going to Small Church (Sunday School---I don't know why they just don't call it Sunday School). We will be greeting at the 11:55a.m. service and then go to service.
Well, everyone, pleas have a Wonderful and Blessed Sunday!
