Thank you Patty. From here it looks as if the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes was a good thing. Having diabetes isn't all that great, but it caused me to get serious about losing weight. I haven't been dieting though. I have only been counting carbs. I find it amazing to see the effect counting carbs has. It makes a big difference.
I find myself doing considerably more than before and feeling much better. I have always felt pretty good, so I didn't notice as my weight climbed and my activity declined. Seeing the reverse is showing me how much of life I had lost. Its coming back now and I will continue on this new path.
Good idea Ann! Only I'll take a tip from WW and set it at 10 %. which would be about 27 pounds. I think that is a reasonable goal, So help me keep track. I am not going to set a time because I have been loosing very rapidly, in fact too rapidly, so I expect that to stop fairly soon. I have lost more than 10% of my beginning weight. I can't tell you over how many weeks though.
Hi everyone, I am so glad that so far everyone is safe. I think I wouldn't have wanted to try to ride that storm out. I have been without power in the dead of winter many times, and without propane at least as many times. It gets terribly cold when you know you can't turn on the heat.
Today was TOPS for me too. The rest of the club was dressed in costumes and went to the local assisted living homes and the hospital. I came back home because those tours are extremely wearing for me. My legs just won't take it.
I weighed in six pounds lighter this morning. I have only 3/4 to go to match my SparkPeople ticker. I have really been working on getting there. Now I will have to figure out a new goal. I hate to set weight goals because I can always do better. If I set a goal that is too low, I lose momentum, if I set a goal that is too high I lose motivation. I guess I'll just have to think about it. Any suggestions?
We fixed "spaghetti" tonight. I found some of the meat my ex raised for me. It is extremely lean, no grease at all. Kristine had never seen ground beef with no fat. She was shocked. I had a couple of packages of Fiesta Spaghetti sauce and some onions so we used them and added the second half of the Spaghetti Squash I cooked last night. As near as I can figure I had only a couple of Carbs for dinner. I don't know how to figure for a mixed up dish like that. It was a very good dinner and I am quite full.
I'll see you all tomorrow, Keep safe and warm if you can.
Just wet and windy here. One of the TOPS ladies said she might have trouble getting home with high water over the road but she lives way out in the country. My weight was way up today.
Patty, be careful walking in the woods with those loosened trees. They say be patient and let grief take it's course.
Glenna, I'm sorry you've lost some fruit trees. Praying for relief from that storm for you. Heather posted a recipe for pumpkin cheesecake on her food blog- under cozy autumn dinners I think. Also a healthy version of macaroni & cheese.
Louise, Hope all is well and you got rested up this afternoon.

Hi Ann, We picked up 25 gallons of gasoline before the storm. That will probably run a week. Not sure. I guess it depends on what all we are using. We have an older pick up truck (1990) that we can syphon the gas from and use if need be. so I am hoping we will be good until they get our electric going. If not, probably some of the stores in town will be up and going by that time.
I have some pumpkin in the fridge that I was thinking about doing something with. I have bread mixed up. I have to knead it and shape it yet. Seems like dh goes thru a lot of it!
I had an email from the realtor in Ma. and they only got some wind and rain so I guess no big damage.
Glenna, you really got hit with a very early snow storm. I guess you won't have any trick or treaters tonight. I have wondered how long can you run your generator? I mean fuel wise. My mother had a big one that was never used when she passed away and I'm not sure what it was fueled by. Our generator in the motor home runs off the diesel that the motor engine uses.. So it does use up the fuel. How far away does your mother live?
Patty, why don't you pay your bills on line instead of having to go out when the weather gets really bad. Saves gasoline too. Our gasoline is slowing going down, about $4.05 at one station yesterday.
I'm going to make a pumpkin bread today from a box. I need something to take with me Fri. when I'm having chemo. Crackers and P B are getting old. My taste buds seem to be changing.

Hi Everyone, I have internet service today. We are running on generator power. Our phones went out last evening. I have no idea when we will get power. There are trees and utility poles down all over. We are blocked in here. There is a tree across the main road out. But there is no place to go even if we could get out. We have lost a few fruit trees. I have to admit that I cried over them. Then I felt ashamed of myself because others have lost homes, etc. The one tree was so special to me because Dad gave it to me. I did hate to see that one toppled over. We had some wind, but nothing too severe. We have at least 2 feet of heavy, wet snow. You can still hear trees snapping this morning. And the scanner says we are under a winter storm watch until 4 pm for more snow and possibly freezing rain. Thank you all for your prayers. I appreciate that so much. Will stay in contact when I can. I suspect it will be days or even weeks before we have power. We are usually the last ones to get service. We are on the end of the line~~literally. Hope you are all safe and warm. One positive thing, I have been getting some workout walking in this snow. It is a real job. Also had to shovel some at mom's house. Glenna
Louise, Were you serious about something biting you? Vampire or Spider?
Spider bites can be dangerous. Watch for unusual feelings. Check out information on spider bites on Google search. I was bitten years ago and spent time in the hospital, five days of which I do not have any memory. Please be careful.

Good morning Girls, Mercy, the country surely has been under attack by the storm. Continuing to pray for those effected. Poor Glenna, in WV, all that snow and no power. Thank you Sarah for keeping us informed about her.
I want to "walk the woods" today and see if any trees came down in the storm. We had terrific winds here for 2 days...wind has died down this morning, and supposed to get more rain.
Going to lunch at senior center. We are having Halloween foods, like mummy fingers. I am assuming that is chicken tenders, though not sure...should be fun.
Then we may go to town. Not sure on that. Hubby usually goes on Tuesday, and we need to pay visa and discover, and he didn't go yesterday cause of the wind. So that needs to be taken care of this week sometime.
ok, now down to business
I made fruit cocktail chiffon pie. One of my favorites. It is in the HE cookbook. Her first I think. It is so yummy... I also made hubby an apple pie with pie crusts and canned apple pie filling. That was so easy to make that pie for him. Thaw out the crusts, plop the pie filling in, and bake away. I used 2 quart jars of the pie filling, as they were not full, only about 3/4 full. I had never made apple pie filling before. It turned out great. Should do it again, but it takes a lot of sugar.
did you move yesterday? no
did you drink your water? yes
did you stick to your diet? yes
I have been wanting to eat constantly. Not hunger, but I think emotional hunger, surrounding Mom's death, daughters surgery, her trouble with her ex, and the storm...all make me stressful.
Will try to pray each time I want to eat when I am not hungry, see if that helps.
have a super blessed day. Stay safe out there. Patty
