Speaking of apples, does anyone else remember the very old strawberry apple. It was a forerunner of today's Delicious I think. My former husband has a tree that was old when we moved into that house over fifty years ago. The tree is splitting apart now and I am going to try to get some seeds from the apples and get some new trees started. The apples from that tree are best when they've been frozen. They develop a "water core" sort of transluscent core that is unbelievably sweet.
My eye surgery on my left eye is done. All went well. They will do my right eye next month. I'll see you all later.
Today was TOPS day. I lost .75 lb. this week - this is my sixth week with a loss. Good meeting and afterwards six of us went to lunch and had a nice time of visiting and making good lunch choices. I had lightly breaded tilapia, steamed veggies, cole slaw, garlic toast.
We are still having nice weather. Cloudy in the morning and then cool sunshine. It's hot tea weather for me.
Tonight we're going to a Bible study. Tomorrow we sleep in (I hope!). Sweetie Pie has been scratching at our door way too early in the morning so I might have to set up one of the bathrooms for her to sleep in.
Patty, I hope you got the rest you needed.
Ann, DH & I don't always like the same kind of movies either. DS#2 called and said he really liked the one with Liam Nison about a plan crash and wolves. DS#1 said he liked it but they used the "f" word a zillion times.
Sarah, I like Jonagold apples, too. I used to get (I think this is the name) Criterion's but I haven't seen them for quite a few years now.
Good Morning. Our food section of todays paper had an article on the different kind of apples. One thing they did say was the Honey Crisp apples were probably too expensive to use for pies or applesauce so best for just eating. Also named off a couple of kinds I've not heard of before.
DH has gone to see a movie. His second this month. The one today was suggested a good see from a classmate in Texas. Didn't sound that great to me. Last Ounce of Courage. I don't think there is another year in the last 30 that he's gone to 2 movies in a year. I'm wondering how he stays awake.
It got very chilly last night and warming up today. That makes it feel like fall here BUT they say we might get the Santa Ana Winds over the week end. That means hot hot hot. The fire danger is so high. There is one fire that is still not contained east of us and closer to the Mexican border. Several houses were lost.
Good early morning girls, Can't get to sleep, so might as well get this post started before I forget about it again.
Ann, that is a terrible price for Honey Crisp apples. They are so very good though.
I had a tuna apple salad for lunch. it had a can of tuna, 1 honey crisp apple cut up, pecans and mayo...I think celery would have been good in there too. It was very good. I will definately have it again
