I have limited dairy (some sour cream and a very little bit of cheese), the rest is nut milks and yogurts, etc. I have to buckle down and get serious once and for all. Thank you Patty.

Hello everyone,

Ann, I am so sorry you aren't feeling up to par. Those treatments take so much out of people. I've heard that from several people. They caused my ex's spine to collapse. He is still with us though and that makes it worth the trouble.

Both my roommate and I have caregivers. They are different people. Hers is a woman I allowed to move in our trailer in our front yard when she had no place to live. Mine lives a few blocks away. My caregiver isn't committed to her job and therefore isn't very reliable. I never know when she is going to be here. She doesn't let me know if she isn't going to be here. She doesn't do a good job when she is here.

Sunday when she here she made my bed with my foot pillow on top of the upper sheet. I got in last night and had to tear the whole bed apart to get my feet up on the pillow. just doesn't seem to care. That is really disappointing after having James for so long. He still comes up to help out and I can't pay him. I think he is the greatest caregiver.

I will be able to take my container garden with me. I am excited about that. I will have a patio and there is room for my plants both inside and out. I haven't harvested anything yet, but there are plenty of blooms. It is unlikely that it will turn cold down there as soon as it will up here in the mountains.

Paulissa, I am so glad to see you posting. I didn't realize that name belonged to you. I am sorry to hear that you are having digestive problems. It helps to know what to do about them doesn't it. Did you finish school? I would love to go back to school and went I move in my new apartment I just might be able to do that. I will be much closer to schools.

I found out yesterday that the complex where I will be living needs a recreation coordinator. I am sooo qualified. I checked out the closets in the two community rooms and there is space to store things for community activities. No, I am not even considering Bingo. There are so many other things to do.

Louise, Thank you for the information about kidney stones. My third son has had problems with them most of his adult life. I had gall stones which eventually caused the gall bladder to explode. I know just how painful any kind of stones can be. I will be drinking more orange juice. I already drink cranberry juice to prevent other problems.

I hope you can get your husband to go square dancing with you. It is such fun. Perhaps when I move I will be able to do more walking, ( there are rails in all the halls so I can walk safely with support) I am looking forward to retiring my power chair for a few years.

I will have to check out the Adkins plan and the other one you mentioned. Because of my recently discovered Diabetes I am limiting carbs and right now it is very difficult to maintain any program. I can do alright with water, because it is so hot, and vegetables don't present much of a problem, but just eating regularly seems out of my reach.

I have very little appetite anyway, but this heat just totally zaps any hunger I might have had. I know I shouldn't complain after all you others have experienced this summer. I have just never been able to cope with heat. To me 80 degrees is much too hot. However, I never got cold in Anchorage. I don't think I ever buttoned my coat up there. I really began to feel cold when I came back outside.

I need to get busy today. I didn't sleep last night. I went back to bed at about seven this morning and slept until one this afternoon. That was a good sleep, but now I am behind and I need to write to my daughters. I'll see you all later. Thanks for all the good wishes. I certainly can use them. I really want this move.

Love, Judy

Paulissa,
I am following Atkins plan. Though have been getting recipes and ideas from Wellness Mama too, but her plan is higher carbs, and I am trying to keep them under 30 net carbs...

you can check out the Atkins site. Lots of info there.

I do have dairy, sour cream, cream cheese and cheeses, heavy whipping cream in my coffee.. I don't think you have that.

But I am having lots of meats and fats and eggs and dairy products, and getting healthier all the time.

Hope this helps.
Patty

Good afternoon friends,

We have finally gotten some cooler weather and a bit of rain. Things are a bit crazy with classes beginning next month, me teaching and running the business.

In the midst of it all, there is trying to get and stay healthy.

Patty, I am interested in the plan you're following. I have to follow low-carb due to the ibs and gluten issues so it is all a learning process for me. I've been using a lot of the Gracious pantry's recipes and the Suzanne somers books as well.

Good Morning

Louise, I love you, I love you but please please make your posts easier to read by making a few paragraphs. Truly I love your posts. Sorry you had to make a trip to ER. I never knew orange juice was good to get rid of stones. It must be the acid in it. Thank goodness I've never had that problem.

Louise, ask your DH to just go to one square dance class. I know he will get hooked. That was all it took my DH and he has two left feet. Was a terrible ball room dancer as he had no clue how to lead. We square danced for over 20 years but had to give it up when I was having so much pain with planta flstasia. (bad spelling and spell check is no help) You will meet the most wonderful people. I made all my square dance clothes and DH matching shirts. I don't think the dancers are into so much frilly petticoats now as they use to be. It is a wonderful recreation that is dying out. DH and I were not so good at line dancing. When you have to turn around and face the back of the hall and there is no instructor to watch it is pretty difficult. We did not round dance either where you and your partner dance around the hall all doing the same pattern of dance.

Judy, I hope your new apartment will work out well for you. I didn't realize it was your room mate that had the care taker. I agree to have you own place with out sharing is so nice.

Glenna, DH has three plants of tomatoes but our heat is just killing them before they are all through producing. One is a lemon tomato that doesn't appeal to me at all.

Patty, I bet you doctor is so pleased with your lab work results.

Today is better. I don't feel like I am dragging. It isn't quite so hot but by the end of the week the weather man says it will heat up more.

Today my DIL in N.C. and her 93 year old dad are flying back to Mi. An unfurnished apartment is available for him in a senior place. She's going to stay a few days to help him get settled. This is what he wants but I know DS, DH and I just know it isn't going to work. He needs some type of care facility where he doesn't have to clean, or cook. As stubborn as he is I don't think he would even accept Meals on Wheels. DS found a VA facility he could go into but not in the town he wanted. At 93 I don't think he has many friends left and he's not a social person.

Good Morning Everyone! Patty, I did not take it as a put down, I did take it as an encouragement. I am going to post daily or at least every other day. Late last night and early this morning I spent the time in the Emergency Room. I am not looking forward to the bill as I do not have insurance yet. However, I was having pain and thought it was kidney stones but it could have been a lot of other things so I was not going to take the chance. My DH drove me and stayed with me. It was a very small kidney stone which has not passed yet, it is in my bladder. They told me to drink lots of water (which I knew) but what I did not know is that a glass of Orange Juice a day helps get rid of the stones and it a good preventive of not getting new ones. Also, there is a lot of things that have changed since I first developed stones so now I am making new lifestyle changes in my diet. So DH is sleeping as he has had a rough few weeks, first with all his tests and now with me. I am letting him sleep. However, tomorrow we both are going to walk more--either with one of Leslie's DVD's or going to the Mall. This time of year it is too hot to walk outside in Arizona unless we walk at 5a.m. I could do that as I am up early but DH does not get up that early. Of course, when he starts his seasonal job he will have to start getting up at 3:30a.m. as the job starts at 5a.m. Then we will walk at night or swim at night. Right now I will be sipping on a lot of water throughout the day and going to the store to buy Orange Juice. Today I will dance for exercise. If I could only get my husband to go to Square Dancing or Line Dancing. He might do Line Dancing but he has this thing against Square Dancing. He remembers being pushed to go to Junior High classes years ago. I was also but I try to tell him it is completely different. He does like dancing though so I have to look around to see where people our age can go dancing and not to some "young" club or bar. I will have to ask my Father-in-law as he and his lady friend go dancing every Friday night. I will have to find out where they go. I want DH and me to get in more exercise. I am going to have to go back and read everyone's post for the last few days.
I will try to post more often--I promise. It might not be daily but at least every other day.

Everyone, Please Have A Really Great Tuesday! emoticon

GOD BLESS!
Louise

Good morning Patty and the rest,

Congrats on the good blood work report, Patty! You should be very pleased with your efforts and the results!!!

We are supposed to get some rain today.

So far we have had cucumbers, squash, corn, peppers, and a few ripe tomatoes from the garden. I love the fresh veggies!! so good.

I have been doing pretty good with exercise. I have been mowing and weedeating. That is a good workout. I also took a bike ride sunday afternoon. That was the first in quite a while.

We are off to town later today.

Hope everyone has a good day.
