I made strawberry patch am today, I will still need to put up my review on it but the recipe is already on my site, it's even better then the sweet cherry jam! It is so yummy. My dad and sisters were licking the pot! My brother said we need lots and lots of biscuits! lol haha I will be making another batch next week of the strawberry for sure. Mainly we don't eat a lot of jam either, but I think this will make awesome gifts for the price, and oh it taste so much fresher and better then the store bought!
Louise, a good idea to drive your DH to the hospital. I hope his biopsy is as easy as mine was. Doesn't sound like he will be put under as I was. Good luck to him.
Sarah, I don't think I've ever cooked summer squash with canned tomatoes. The yellow crock neck are so good when they aren't all spotted as they've been lately. I don't remember years ago that they were like that. Some times have to make a trip to a couple of different stores to find some that are nice.

Good Afternoon Everyone! DH and DD went to the movies. I am going to work on my Bible Study in just a little while. I am working in the New American Standard Inductive Study Bible. I am doing Psalms. I will for on Psalm 1 for a while. I love this method of Bible Study. Then I am going to take a nice long shower. When the weather is hot I feel I have to shower more than once. I am also going to work on my writing. I am not sure where that is leading me. It might be just a nice hobby to relax me. I am not sure. DH biospy is scheduled for Monday at 1p.m. but he has to be at the hospital at 11:30a.m. They said he can drive himself there and back but I feel safer if I drive him to and from the appointment. One never knows if one will have an allergic reaction. During the summer when the weather is really, really hot and Arizona does get some humidity I feel very lazy. I do not feel like doing anthing! I am catching up on my reading.

Ann I just chunk them, add some diced onion and either a little water or canned tomatoes. Season them, salt and pepper. and cook them till liquid is evaporated. you can add diced green pepper too and garlic. Some people add a tsp of sugar too. That's how I grew up eating them.
Patty my yeasterday was the same as yours. It sure is hard to get motivated to move when it is so hot.
Heather the pic of your jam is great! I would love to try the jam but the water bath isn't the easiest thing for me to do. Like Ann, it takes me a long time to use jams and jellies unless i get on a pb & j kick.
Ann your dr visit yesterday must have been frustrating. So aggravating when tests aren't ready for one reason or another. I have summer squash to steam or stew today.
The days are starting to fly by it seems like. Already August. School will be starting before you get turned around.
Heather your jam sounds good. We use so little jelly and jam with no kidlets that a jar lasts us forever. Once in a while DH will have some on his biscuits if no gravy.
Patty, my yesterday was so so. Dr. app't and part of my lab work hadn't come back and with the one new chemo my white blood count was down so now I have to have another lab work next week before I can have chemo again. My biopsy tests had to be sent out again as they sent the ones that were done in March when I had fluid extracted from my stomach. So I left the office and didn't know a thing.
I did fix a very good supper with some left overs from a taco salad a few days ago. I had shredded lettuce, a little red pepper slices, some blk beans to which I added a green onion sliced and a can of corn with a dressing of mayo, lime juice and cumin. DH and I ate the whole bowl. We did have a slice of ham and yellow crook neck squash to go with it. I don't have a clue what we'll have tonight.
DH is getting fresh tomatoes from his three plants but some of them have started to spoil on the bottom. I told him to take one to the nursery to see what is causing that. I suspect too much water.
I made the Sweet Cherry Jam from Preserving the best of timberridge farm on Weds. It was soooooo good! If you have this little booklet of Jo's it's a must try. Today I'm going to try the Strawberry Patch Jam. I am so so glad I bought this while Jo was still alive. This is the first year I've actually been able to can though. And wow I am impressed! A awesome booklet. Since this booklet is COMPLETELY out of print and I would say probably near impossible to find if you don't already own it, and I'm quite sure will not be reprinted since HE has went bankrupt, I have the recipe and a few others from the book on my site, maybe some day I will put all from this booklet on my site, for now though I have put up four, and I will probably be putting a few more as I make them, as I for sure want to try the zuc pickles and the cranberry sauce! Especially since I used to make Sue's cranberry sauce (sent in to the newsletter by a reader) and I haven't been able to find the sugar free cranberry Jello it called for for the past few years. So this will be the answer to that! I've also been trying to take more pics of what I make, let me know what you think of the pic I took for the Sweet Cherry Jam.
Also for any one worried about using Splenda any more, I also plan on trying this with Stevia or the new all natural splenda that is coming out made with fruit sugar.
