Good morning everyone, This morning the weather is cool, getting warmer, the skies are clear and I think the birds must have hatched their eggs. They are singing again. The road in front of our house has been reopened after the winter's snow has melted.
It is early in the day and I have cancelled my doctor's appointment because all of my pushers have suddenly had other things come up so they can't go with me. My son called last evening to tell me he had to attend a meeting in Chehalis. He has been unemployed for more than a year now and this meeting is meant to help find a new job. Attendance is mandatory and the help is welcomed.
Schedule conflicts are a normal part of life, how we handle them can either add to or diminish stress in our lives. I have found that if I relax and let things flow everything will work out. I can usually change appointments, or make other necessary adjustments with little trouble. Trying to juggle family, job, and school taught me that schedules are not written in stone. Sometimes there is a great deal of pressure to keep on schedule, but when adjustments are made things get easier for everyone concerned.
When I left school bus driving I threw away my watch. Time is no longer important in my life. I make it to appointments on time, (usually early). That is the only time/schedule with which I concern myself. I especially find that hunger/appetite do not relate to the clock. I am usually not hungry for about three hours after I wake in the morning. Therefore, when I do get hungry I am inclined to make a high protein meal and not eat again until dinner. Dinner is not on any schedule either. Again, I create a meal when I actually need it, not just because it is a certain time. Quite often we will eat dinner around nine or ten in the evening. That works because we both like to stay up quite late.
I do keep my alarm set for seven AM. I have sleep apnea and find that maintaining a waking time is considerably better than allowing myself to sleep until I can't sleep any longer. I feel better and interestingly, I eat less. My water consumption stays about the same which is an improvement over my former practice of not drinking anything because I couldn't go to the restroom while I was driving.
How does time affect you? Does keeping a strict schedule cause stress or does it feel more relaxed?
