Today was a TOPS day. I lost 1/4 lb. - hey! it's downward so that's good to me. We had an officers meeting afterwards and I'm pleased we all are on the "same page". Had to go to the bank to sign for the new TOPS year, then grocery shopping and home.
I am still struggling with daylight savings time. DH & I can't seem to get to bed before 11 or worse, then when I have to get up at 6 for TOPS it is not fun. Took an hour nap when I got home today.
Patty, This is such a good thing for your Mom. My admiration goes to those who help take care of elderly parents - not an easy task. And the time comes when more help is needed. Such decisions. Adult children want to do their best and honor their parents but sometimes it is just best done by trained people. I'm praying all will go smoothly for all concerned.
Ann, how discouraging to have a gain when you are being careful. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Why do I always lose my post., I knew I should have posted that first paragraph and go back and edit to add on. Darn.
Patty, look into a hand brace for the carnal tunnel syndrom. I have one I used a lot when I worked on the computer all day. In fact mine is in the bottom of my knitting bag. You have to try them on because they come in different sizes. Probably sm. med and lg. Right hand or left hand. There is a metal strip that goes up the palm of your hand. Velcro straps it in place around your thumb and to your wrist. Not uncomfortable at all. Your pharmacy should sell them as well as WalMart pharmacy. It just might help.
You are going to have a very busy time the next few days. Maybe a word to mom's doctor and he could ease the subject of the nursing home to her. Just take it one day at a time and hour by hour. Just let her know that you and her son will be checking on her regularly. Maybe set up a schedule so you both take turns. How about your sister and the grans. Will the nursing home be further away for you than driving to her house?
I am up another pound since Saturday. What the heck is going on. Yesterday I ate only about 1,100 calories. I'm really not hungry. Early in the morning I will call my doctors office for an app't that day on her urgent call day.
We're going to have hamburgers for supper. I thawed 1/2 # of gr beef and will make my patty about 3 oz. Then after I had my hair done I went to the health food store and got a small carton of potato salad and another of a macaroni cheese salad. This is something I never do but just am not in the cooking mood. I had scrambled eggs and toast last night while I fixed DH 2 ears of frozen corn, baked salmon, fr. sweet pot. fries and rolls. Don't you just feel sorry for him.
The lady from the nursing home just called. Looks like Mom is going in there on Tuesday. She will have the physical on Monday. My brother wanted to wait until after her birthday the end of April. That's too late. He just called and said Wow, Tuesday...So he is on board with it, sort of...I know we waited too long for Mom's sake. She shouldn't have all those alone hours that she does. This will be a relief for me, to know that she is taken care of well. but it is just so hard.
anyway, on to pleasanter things. Hubby said that his hands ached before his carpet tunnel surgery...so I am positive that is my problem. numb fingers and aching hands...bingo, carpet tunnel. I can schedule an appt. in May, so we are good to go on that.
Don't know how much yarny stuff I will be working on between then and now. Probably not much, as my hands hurt all the time...we shall see, I may think well, since they are hurting anyway, knit my heart out...lol
hope you have a super duper day.
I need to be very careful of what I eat for a while, at least a couple of weeks, so that I don't get depressed from all the stress of this next week, and poor food choices.
Louise and Ann, and anyone else, how are the pounds coming off? Mine are not, though I do seem to be slimming.
oh, a goodly thing, last fall I walked up the hill in back of us, and thought that I wouldn't make it...walked up it yesterday, and not much problem with it at all...seems that my walking this winter helped that a lot...woohoo
