Ann, Our youngest son's new job is relatively close to where he lives in the Portland area. On nice days he could ride his bike there. This will allow him to stay in the apartment he has been living in for about 5 years. His new roommate is working out okay. So now just need to get the other son settled! Gee, I thought it was warm today.
Ann, I love the color orange. It's my favorite color yarn to work with, so bright and cheery. I can't wear orange, but I can peach. Aren't we funny though with our colors. The brighter and cheerier yarn just calls to me. It says, Patty, come use me, come work with me...lol silly patty Patty
It's late afternoon here. We spent the better part of the day at the in and out hospital with DH's coloscopy (sp) tests. I know he's glad that is over. When I finally got to see him after the he was back in the recovery cubical the first thing he said to me on the way home we're going to Dairy Queen. We did and he brought home a Blizzard and ate a large vanilla cone there. I dropped him off and then went to the mall about 3 miles from the hospital. I went in Penney's and a good time to shop as few customers. Lots of sales as usual and I bet they are getting ready for fall clothes. Not like it would be on a Saturday. Then to the other mall on the other side of the freeway to Michaels. I still have one more 50% off coupon on yarn that I will use tomorrow at our local shop after I get my hair done.
When I got back to the hospital an hour later DH wasn't in the waiting room but told me later he didn't get wheeled into surgery until long after 12 p.m.
Jan, I know you are celebrating that your DS got a job. Is that near you or away from the area. A couple that write a blog of their full time RVing are presently in Newport and say how cold it is.
Louise, it's no fun having computer problems. Our lap top is old too.
Patty, you do have lots of flowers. I always loved geraniums as long as I didn't have to smell them. DH planted some marigolds. They are orange and I'm not an orange colored person. He says they are his favorite. (Probably the cheapest plants the store had) Oh well, better than the weeds that were by the front door.
Bruce and Troy went to Seaside so I spent time planting some of the garden. Bruce did a good job of tilling and adding amendments so my job was easy. I have two tomato plants in Earth Boxes and now two in the garden with some protectors around them to boost them along. Also planted zucchini, kale and cucumbers. I'm going to the store this afternoon to get carrots, beets, radish, spinach and swiss chard and I think I need to add some geraniums. Patty, I love geraniums, too. They are so cheerful. I like to put some in a pot on the patio. The nasturciums from the previous year drop their seeds and usually that starts lots of flowers later in the summer.
We're having chicken for dinner. I think I'll make Heather's version of the KFC cole slaw to go with that.
Patty, I LOVE hamburgers, too and Burger King is my favorite.
It's a glorious day outside. I need to get back out there!
Morning Girls, Louise, good to hear from you again. Such good news on the celebration of life memorial for your DMIL. Taste of Heaven website now has a vegan gluten free cookbook. I'm sure it is very good, cause her other vegan cookbooks are good. I get nothing from introducing you to this cookbook. Just thought you might like it.
Jan, yes, I had a good anniversary. We went to town, and ate lunch out. We ate at, wait for it, wait for it, Burger King. We love Burger King, and haven't been there for a while, so it tasted so good. We are big spenders aren't we...lol
It rained during the night. yay, I don't need to water my flowers. I was looking around the yard yesterday, at the flower beds. It is so pretty. We have 2 flower boxes on the front porch with petunias. Then we have 2 hanging geraniums on the front porch. We have a garden of spider wort meandering down the yard. We have a filled up shade garden in the front. Then we have a couple of small gardens of tiger lilys. They are so big this year. We also have a few lilac plants, big ones, that did wonderful this year. No freezing. We have some iris surrounding the back deck. We have 2 geraniums hanging on the back deck. We also have a chair with the seat out filled with purple petunias. That is it for us in the garden dept. Sounds like a lot of upkeep, but only the shade garden needs weeding ever.
Going to lunch at senior center later. Knitting a toddler sweater, actually 2 of them. One is yellow, and the other one is 3 strands of aqua. But 2 of the strands are double, so actually I am using 5 strands of yarn to knit this sweater. That makes it to a worsted weight size. Hard to always get all the threads together on the stitches. So no pattern on this one. I want to start a dark red one soon too. We shall see on that...
