Jan, since I will be using more whole grains like brown rice, polenta, millet etc., yes, I measure them out (which I have to do being a diabetic anyway) and I do count it on the food mover. The food mover has different calories levels on it.. I am either going to do the 1600 or 1800 calorie one. Richard Simmons recommends the 1800 calorie one for my weight and then when the weight goes down to a certain number, it changes to the 1600 calorie. If I buy gluten-free bread or gluten-free waffles I do count them on the starches. Other than that I usually cook fresh veggies, eat fresh fruits and meat and cheese and beans and has rice milk all which is counted on the exchange system. I know some people had a hard time with the exchange system but I have done it for years (off and on--if I had stuck to it, I would not have gain the weight again) and I am more use to it than anything else. I think Heather does the exchanges. Heather, please correct me if I am wrong. I cook very basic things. I used to and will start up again cooking a lot of stir fries but I stir fry using spring water and not oil. When I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil, I measure it out and put in on the all ready cooked foods.

You sure were a busy lady Patty, for someone who is under the weather. Good to have the meals for the rest of the week. I'll just have to play it by ear. Tonight I grilled some salmon on George, bake DH a sweet potato (only had one small one) and nuked him some frozen corn. We both had yellow crook neck squash and I had a salad. I tried the Kraft f/f honey mustard dressing. I bought it a long time ago. It wasn't bad at all.
It has been cold in the house all day. About 4 p.m. the sun decided to come out. Maybe the storm has passed over and tomorrow will be nice.
Oh yeah, a loaf of banana bread wouldn't last a day around here. That's why I never bake any .
It is a rainy day. The storm that moved down from Jan. Not a heavy rain but just messy. It is also on the cold side. I've gotten caught up on the past weeks newspapers and the laundry is caught up. I guess I must think of something for supper. I do have some lightly breaded halibut in the freezer that is always good for a 'what can we have for supper meal'. I think it has been two weeks since I've done any cooking.
A wonderful surprise - no rain as forecast but blue skies and sunshine!!! Makes a body feel good. When I wind down here I'm going out to finish pulling weeds and roots out of the side garden. Then I can amend the soil and plant. I don't think we got to that area last year after Bruce had the heart attack so it was doubly weedy. I should have taken a "before" photo.
Patty, I understand. My Mom was a worry-wart. When we brought our newborn youngest son over to their house, (I thought he was beautiful!) she looked him over and announced there was a spot in his mouth. I never saw that spot. She was the same with gardening - only looked at all the work left to do and not what was accomplished.
Louise, You probably feel glad to have prayerfully made your decision on food plan. How does that work with food mover? Do you use the exchanges using gluten-free things?
Sarah, Glad the weather is being good today and that things are moving along for better care for your mom. I ended up putting the chicken tenders on the George Foreman. I love that banana bread but I almost have to hide it - Bruce eats it 2 slices at a time.

My Mom is doing pretty good, one nursing home is coming to see her today and another tomorrow. Both seem to be good places so please pray that my Mom is in a caring environment. Ann I live 800 miles from my Mom, she is in Ky.

Louise I'm praying you find the right eating plan for you. Hoipe you and DH had a great walk. So much fun walking in the morning. For some reason it always seemed more peacefull to me.
Cindy I am praying for your family and you. You've just had so much on your plate lately. Remember we are given no more than we can handle.

Hi Patty and all who will follow! Patty, you are so right--take it easy, rest and heal! Our bodies take time to heal and you are very wise to take the time you need. Well, after a lot of prayer I decided to go back on the Richard Food Mover Program and go back to the Medical Doctor. I really feel Richard's program is healthier and the fuuny thing is, well not funny, since I have been trying to do the food program the Naturopathic Doctor has given me, my blood sugars have been high and they are suppose to go down with her program. I am not really on a diet as Richard's way is a healthy way to eat. It is a Lifestyle Change and one I will be sticking to. I will eat more gluten-free grains than gluten-free breads and still to steaming veggies. I will be eating six mini-meals as I do much better doing that than three meals daily. Well, I am going to exercise now and then go grocery shopping. I think I will get hubby up to go for a morning walk before it gets too hot! Have A Wonderful Day! GOD BLESS! Louise

It is a beautiful sunny day here, 45 degrees.
Mom calls me every day, saying how worried about me, she is. I say, I will be fine, just let my body have time to heal. Just like a cold, that takes 2 weeks, this takes 2 weeks also, let me have that time to heal. She is fine for about 5 minutes, then start worrying again...I can't solve that for her, I'm sorry to say. She has always been a constant worrier.
Anyway girls, hubby went to town, I will stay home and crochet...yay, what a life I lead. The life of Riley, sounds like, huh?
