Patty, won't it be good when spring comes? I'm glad your hubby isn't tempted to get on the roof when it's icy. Men can have their own ideas sometimes, can't they? Lol. It is so good to know your hubby is feeling so much better than last year.
Jan, Yes, hubby cleans out the chimney himself. He did it once already, but there was lots of snow on there, so good traction. Now, not much snow, and as the driveway is pure ice, we thought that the roof might be too. Better safe than sorry.
We usually don't have to shovel snow off our roof. I think once in the last 10 years, and then it was son that did it. Usually we get a couple of thawing weather where we lose some of it, then it piles back on. I really think that the builders in the north, take allowances for that, and make stronger roofs, but I may be mistaken. They should if they don't...lol
We just finished lunch and the kids went downtown to look at something. Bruce and I are going to join them on a walk when they are ready. The sun is out today and right now I see blue sky. I was up in the night for a bit and I could easily take a nap in my chair.
Gas prices I believe it is $3.53 a gallon unless they increased it from yesterday. Yikes! What are the prices where you are?
I was noticing an advertisement here on Sparkpeople for Cinnabon Cream of Wheat. Wouldn't you just add cinnamon and Splenda to make cream of wheat taste like a Cinnabon?
Nina, we did have a lot of rain. It's nice to have a little reprieve from it today.
Louise, Glad you had such a good time yesterday making things and then meeting up with your old church family. Nice send off for the pastor.
Patty, I'm glad the walk didn't aggravate your fibro. It can be a guessing game how to take care of yourself sometimes. Will your hubby clean the chimney when the weather is better or do you have it done?
Ann, I used to have a bathrobe from that guy on QVC who sells chenille bathrobes. Everytime I washed it there would be a lint trap full of lavender fluff. That went on for months and months.
Good Morning Ladies, I'm always up until just about midnight. A habit I have had for years. Once in a while I fall asleep watching TV but not always. I think I will just be lazy today. I've washed a load of items that will need ironing later. Then I washed two small bathroom rugs. One is quite new and matches the shower curtain. I'm surprised there is any threads left on it. I could not believe the fuzz on the older rug I took out. That one has been washed a lot. Then out came the new one. What a mess. It doesn't appear to have any bald spots but I had to wipe out the tub, sweep up the floor and pick fuzz off my robe. I have them hanging to dry. Now I must decide if I'm going to return the second matching one I bought or not. I figured the shower curtain would last a lot longer than then one rug would.
Nana, I can imagine gas prices really do pinch when those that have to travel a distance to and from work. DD has a truck that is a gas hog. She's not very frugal in her trips either.
Patty, do you have to scrap snow off your roof? I had to have that done to my mothers roof. I guess they only scraped off about 1/2 way up as that was all they could reach. I gather they have one of those long handled things, just for that job.
Louise, sounds like the crafts for kids was very successful. Nice that the restaurant sponsored it. I've never had their food.
Anyone want a bargain. I saw JoAnna's Easy and Economical cookbook on Amazon for a penny. Shipping was $3.99 I didn't have that one. Several sellers have it and the first one had several copies. Owl Books. I've gotten books from Owl before and was pleased. There were other of her books for sale for a penny. I ordered a used copy but they did have new ones for more money.
Morning Girls, Louise and Nina, I was up at midnight too. But went to sleep fairly soon after.
It doesn't seem like that 1 mile walk did my fibro any harm. It was the fibro I was worried about, not my personal stamina. Sometimes it seems like it is a different person inside me, an ornery lazy exhausted sore person, that wants to come out and attack me...lol. silly huh.Yesterday, the driveway was too slippery, so didn't walk. I could have exercised to Leslie, but didn't.
Went to lunch at senior center, then took Mom to the store, then back to her house, where we visited with my brother. Then back home to visit with hubby. I did a lot of visiting yesterday, guess I have a big mouth, and like to talk...
It is snowing hereee this morning, and dreary, 31, supposing to get back down in the 20's later.
We shut the wood stove down. We had about enough wood until Sunday, but we were getting a smell in the house, meaning the chimney needs cleaning again, and concerned that the roof would be slippery from the melting snow, then refreezing, we just shut it down. Not as warm by half girls...first we tried 68, too cold, brrr, then 70. By evening we were up to 72. Going from about 80 degrees in the stove room, to 68 in one day was just too much...lol
Not sure what is on the agenda for today, whether we stay home or go to town. I opt for staying home, not sure what hubby wants though, as HE IS STILL IN BED... sleepy hubby.
Hi Nina and all who will follow! I know it is not Saturday yet but maybe by the time I finish this post it will be. Well Friday I did Wii bowling in the morning for exercise. Then in the afternoon I danced to some of my CD's for an half hour. Then I showered and got ready to help my DD. DD came home from work, took a quick shower then we went to Chick Fle lay--not sure how to spell it. Anyway, they had tables set up outside for the Preschool DD works at to set up all the crafts. They also had an inflatible movie screen where they were showing "Finding Nemo". They had tables set up outside for families to sit and eat together and watch the movie. A lot of children came and did crafts. My DD had cut out shamrocks. She had stickers, markers and long thin paper that the children could design their shamrocks anyway that they wanted to. The children had a blast. They are other craft projects set up by the other preschool teachers who work with DD. I helped out. It was fun! It brought back memories of when I taught preschool. I honestly do miss teaching. Anyway after two hours we packed up the things and went to the Good Bye Party for our friend. It was like a "family" reunion. That church that we all had went to was a family. Our friend was glad to see everyone. I was happy to see everyone! DH joined everyone after his work. We all left about 10:30p.m. Now I am home and in just a little while I am going to bed. I had a great day but I am extremely tired. Everyone, please have a Really Great Saturday! GOD BLESS! Louise
Going to run the vacume today and find a new dessert to make. Have to go shopping after church on Sunday, so I am trying to figure out my shopping list.
Jan-Saw that it was raining again. My grand-daughter that went to New Port to see her other grandma said it had rained most of the time they were there. She said it was nice for a couple days and they got to go to the beach, but it was cold. I love rain. Loved living in Oregon for the 10 years I was there.
Louise-it was nice that you got to send the pastor off to New Mexico. We are not far from the boarder of New Mexico. It must have been nice to see old friends.
Ann-wish we had a Costco. It would be nice to get some of the stuff I use to get at reasonable prices.
The gas prices are sure hitting our budget as hubby has to drive 30 min. to work. Food prices are going up. Sure am glad JoAnna has some thrifty cook books. Actually all of them seem thrifty to me.
