Patty your granola sounds wonderful! I'm thinking it would taste good mixed with a little pumpkin as well. Thank you for sharing the recipe.

It's a toss up for me between the Reginald Owen version and the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol. Some good parts of each. The black and white version makes me feel the characters just stepped out of the book. Of course the transformation of Scrooge's heart is what makes it so heart-warming.We're watching the 50s version right now.
Bruce had a good first day of working on this job. He drove to Portland twice!!

Evening Girls,
Yes, we went to lunch at senior center. Veal patties with spaghetti, yum
for supper we had grilled cheese sandwiches

Last night around midnight, I thought about making my granola recipe. vegan of course.
Here is the recipe in case you are interested

Patty's vegan granola

In a bowl mix
9 cups dry oats
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup sunflower or pumpkin seeds

In a blender mix
2 bananas
1/2 cup pitted dates,(I like a tad more than this)
1/2 cup water
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. salt

blend, then pour over the dry ingredients
mix well.
Put in 2 large pans and put in the oven at 170 degrees overnight. No stirring at all. Done by morning. yum, healthy, really healthy, and tastes good. This makes almost a gallon of granola. Keeps a long time

I like to eat it with a sliced banana and soy milk

Also like to use it sometimes over thickened canned peaches and baked in the oven...yum again.

We had to take the van into the shop. dropped it off before lunch, and it was ready by 1:30. Only $58 bucks, a deal.

no cleaning or knitting today.

Have a good evening girls.
Patty

It sounds like the auction was loads of fun!

My fav Christmas movie is A Christmas Carol with Reginald Owen. I love the mix of black and white and color and the actors playing the roles are really good.

Like Paulissa I really enjoy A Christmas Story....lots of memories in it.

Oh and Christmas Vacation is a wonderful hoot! Gotta love cousin Eddy!

Jan, your auction sounds like a blast! We have one of the canteen type water bottles with a strap that we use when we go hiking.

My absolute favorite Christmas movie is the George C Scott version of A Christmas Carol. My favorite funny Christmas movie is A Christmas Story and my favorite sad Christmas movie is The Christmas Shoes.

The auction today was so much fun. There were all kinds of things. Some were hot items but I don't think anything went for over $10. Most were a couple of dollars. Some Christmas decorations, knick knacks, a red Christmasy sweatshirt was a hot item, home canned pickled beets, pickles, smoked sturgeon jams, Christmas breads and rolls, lots of decorations and some office things. I came home with a large ceramic piggy that went up on a shelf in the laundry room, a water bottle in a carrier with a strap (so I can carry it around my shoulder when I'm out walking), and Christmas bread. A rough estimate is we earned $325 for our State Recognition Days fund which pays for our hotel rooms. I lost 1/4 lb. Not earthshaking but on my way back down.

Sarah, I wish I could send you a sweater or a warm fleece top. I watched the oldest version of A Christmas Carol a couple of days ago and now I need to watch the next one. Which is your favorite Christmas movie?

Paulissa, I once had a Risotto recipe from Weight Watchers that I loved. It had some asparagas and I think white wine. It was the first time I attempted to make risotto and don't remember it being too difficult. Which is your favorite Christmas movie(s)?

Ann, I'm sorry the room was too, too pink. Know how you feel about not wanting to give in to dd but needing to make the change. It's great it was only one wall and the others are so nice and neutral. That must be some chemical contamination. Thank heavens no one was blown away with it.

Glenna, sorry I got your birthday mixed up. It sounded like a nice one.

Judy, Don't you love putting up the Christmas tree. All the memories in the decorations.

Patty, I hope all is well with you today. I'm hoping you got a really good rest.

Nana, Hope you are feeling better, too. One of my TOPS friends was saying she gets dizzy sometimes when her blood pressure is up.

Louise, We miss hearing from you. Maybe you are just dancing the day away.

Shar, you are missed. I hope that sinus thing didn't turn into a big problem for you.

Are any of you making Christmas desserts or cookies?

Another thing. Don't forget to measure things. I often do but I had been counting my 94% ff popcorn at one measurement. Today I decided I'd better put it in one of those huge measuring cups just to see. Hah! Almost twice as much as I thought.

Jan and I were posting at the same time it seems. It is cold and sunny here today, but will be 45-50 degrees tomorrow and Friday before a nasty storm rolls in.

The risotto was just OK. I think that instead of sauteeing the butternut squash that it would have worked better to have steamed it a bit then sauteed. It was a bit too crunchy for our tastes. I am going to try to salvage it today and put some cranberries and almonds on top and pop it into the oven to bring out the roasted flavor. I was left unimpressed but this is all a learning experience and yes, it is a rather time-consuming dish to be unimpressed with lol!

Good Morning. Another early day. I did not sleep well last night thinking about how upset DD was with the pink wall in her bedroom. It is very pink. The other three walls are light beige/tan. She won't remember how many times I asked her what colors to put in there and was told what ever you want. Well, I sent DH to Home Depot this morning for some light blue paint. I hate caving in to her but had to agree it really was pink. As the fellow next door said 'Oh, a Barbie Room.'

The brother with the carpet business came by last night as he helped me pick out a light brown, tan, beige or what every color carpet. He called this morning and it is on order. His carpenter brother can coordinate getting it installed when it arrives. He also suggested that when I'm ready to redo the kitchen floor I do it in the same ceramic tile as in the family room. He said it will flow well. It is hard to stand on but I have to admit it is easy to clean.

I guess today the guys are working on the door jams.

I'm sure your news has had a wee bit of the chemical filled house in our north county area. The most chemicals found ever in a house in the United States. The renter is in jail and the house is scheduled to be burned down this week. The fellows that came in from north county today said there are lite up signs telling motorists that the freeway will be closed Thursday from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. You can imagine what a mess that is going to be. That freeway has up to 8 lanes for cars in each direction. We have to travel a bit of it before we turn off to go to the desert tomorrow. DH says but we won't be that close and I told him you better believe there will be vehicles backed up for 10 miles or more. There is a another road we can take but a bit longer. I do feel sorry for the commuters.

Time for breakfast.

Ann

Hi Everyone!

It is still a chilly Florida! This cold snap will just make the citrus sweeter so it is welcome. Our temps are gradually creeping upwards.

Jan the auction is really going to be fun I bet. We use to do Trash and Treasure sales and at the end we did blind auctions (items hidden with a light behind them so you had to try to guess what you were bidding on). Those were always great fun. Enjoy your day! I hope DH likes the new job.

Is everyone having cold weather?

Ann I bet you will be so glad when all the work in the house is over and you can get back to your routine. It upsets me to have everything so out of order.

Shar are you ok? I haven't seen you post lately. These cold days make me think of your DH's chili.....yummy

Louise how are you feeling? I hope your head is better. Do you have your tree up yet? I think of you as I work around the house singing Christmas carols.

Paulissa how was the rissotta? It is one of those things I enjoy but never want to give it the time it needs. I know you will have a productive day, enjoy!

Cindy I bet y'all are working like crazy at your job. I hope there are lots of shoppers. So many people are still laid off this season. Do you have snow?

Glenna, Happy Birthday!

Nana are you about ready for the holidays? I bet you have snow.

Judy how are you and WHERE are you? lol I just had to say it.

Patty I hope you are feeling tons better today. Are you going to the Senior Center today? Enjoy your day and don't push yourself.

I hope each of you has a happy, blessed day today!

Good morning ladies

This is my TOPS morning and I have a couple of boxes of things to bring for the auction. Auction days are always lots of fun.

I've been busy (for me). Today after the meeting I need to sit down and do some recipe planning.

My husband applied for a job (part time/on call) and he is starting today.

Glenna, how was your birthday?

Nana & Patty, I hope you are both feeling better today.

How is everyone doing today?
