Paulissa, Now, you, Shar, Deb and I will all be in the big 10. Not sure if they watch college football or not. But hubby and I sure do. That's the only sport we watch, big 10 college football. Maybe we will play each other next year...yay Patty
Good Morning. It was an early start for me as the workers arrived at 7:15. Good thing our weather is warmer than you freezing buddies as the doors have been open for them to come in and out. DH said better than summer time when there are flies around. We made an early trip to Home Depot for paint samples. The one DH put on the bedroom wall is too light. I'm waiting for him to put the sample ont he living room. One a light green and one a shade or two darker. In our bedroom I'm trying to match the creamy beige in the bed spread. The workers are going to texture coat the walls today so I have the week end to make up my mind on paint.
Remembering wood fires: One time DH and I visited his sister in a small town in Utah. It was cold and they had a pot belly wood stove for heat. They also were smokers. Heavy smokers. We slept in the living room where the pot belly stove burned all night with their big ash tray of butts by the couch bed. We both were so glad to leave the next day.
Yesterday I found SACO brand of powdered dry milk at Ralph's which is a Kroger store. Next time I see it at the military commissary I'm going to buy several boxes. I made DH and I some choc. pudding last night with the powdered milk. It was an expired box of cook and serve and I added a tabl. and 1/2 of instant tapioca. Man was that pudding thick. Tasted almost like thin fudge. Yum.
Nana, my DH also uses a CPAP machine at night. The first one he had with the mask drove him crazy. His nose got very sore and with the cold air going into his body in the winter he about froze. He gave up using it. Finally his gasping and jerking got so bad I told him he was going to have to do something as he was keeping me awake. There was a new nose piece type of gadget along with a humidifier that kept the water warm and this set up doesn't bother him at all and I don't hear a thing. We can even dry camp in the motor home and the machine will run all night on the motor home batteries. We just have to charge up the batteries during the day
DH called: He painted the light green sample on the wall and then the darker green. I like them both so that will be the hall, living room in the light green and the darker will be across the back wall of my sewing area. I don't sew any more but that is where the sewing machine and serger sit. I have two sewing machine and DD has one and they don't get used. For some reason I get a back ache when I sit at the sewing machine any more. I use to make just about all my clothes but those days are gone. One of my machines is an Elna with all the sewing machine cams. The other I bought in 1953 a Phaff. One of the first zig zag machines. I bought it when I was still in the military in Memphis.
Paulissa that salad on your menu is my kind of eating. I generally order that kind of salad for my main dish when we eat out.
More later. a good time to post some more recipes.
Speaking of football games...we are in Tucson and Arizona played Arizona State here last night. The game went into double overtime and was a real barn burner! We sat outside the MH and watched the pre-game fireworks. Will be back later..today is weigh-in for the challenge.
Tomato basil dauphinoise potatoes with fresh mozzarella & onions
Butter braised asparagus with béarnaise sauce
Broiled salmon with lemon cream sauce with fresh dill
Three cheese chicken gratin Dijon
Steamship of beef; carved by our chef with silver dollar rolls & sauces
Soooooo. . . .I'm thinking beef which sounds less encumbered, roasted veggies, salad w/ balsamic and maybe a dab of potatoes after taking the cheese off. What do you think?? I'm staying away from sauces for the most part. I may have a small sliver of dessert if something looks particularly good. I am doing an extra long workout today to give myself a boost.
I did decide on a dressy sweater and palazzo pants for the party. No reason to be uncomfy. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, some of whom I haven't seen before surgery so they haven't seen me slimming down. I'm looking forward to doing a little dancing. It should be a good time.
Tomorrow I'm watching the Big 12 title game between the Huskers and OSU. Big 10 next year!!! I can hardly wait!
Not much going on today other than getting my kitchen in shape, doing a little light cleaning, getting my exercise done and getting a nap so that I'm fresh for the party.
What are you up to today?

Working out teaches me about challenging, yet being patient with myself.
"The only way you can hurt the body is not use it. Inactivity is the killer and, remember, it's never too late." ~ Jack Lalanne
There are 1440 minutes in a day, set aside 30 for exercise.
