Thank you everyone. Tomorrow will be a better day and that friendship is over near as I can see right now.

Oh Paulissa,
That is the cruelest thing I have ever heard. I am so sorry that you were hurt.
Try and get past it. We are all praying for you.
Obviously that person is not a very good friend, to try to hurt you like that. I am just so sorry.

WOW, Paulissa, I don't think I'd call that person much of a friend. I'm at a loss for words.

Oh, Paulissa, I am so sorry that someone said this to
you. Words hurt! They honestly do. No, we are NOT our upbringing or our parents. If that was true, I would have been an abusive mother. I was not. I don't know why people say what they do. They should think before opening their mouth. Paulissa, I am covering you in Prayer this afternoon. "Dear Heavenly Father, Please be with Paulissa right now. Please let her know that YOU LOVE her tremendously. Please wrap YOUR LOVING AND HEALING ARMS around her.
In Jesus Name I Pray. Amen"

Paulissa, Please know we love you! YOU ARE A VERY SPECIAL PERSON!

Paulissa I'm so sorry for the hurtful words from your friend. Words can wound us to our core. Your friend must be dealing with issues of her own to be so blatantly hurtful to you.

I'm always amazed at the judgements people make on each other.

I'm having a really tough day. A friend of mine who has known me for probably 10 years just left here after bringing me lunch. In the course of the conversation she told me,"It's probably a good thing you couldn't have kids. You would have sucked at it with your background and upbringing." Yes, I had a tough childhood but we are NOT our upbringing or our parents.

I rarely talk about my background because it gives people a psychological weapon to use against me, so yes this one hurts. The inability to have children is something I reconciled myself to after the 1st surgery last year but there are some things that just should not be said. Hurt beyond words right now.

Good Friday all. It is a very gray day here. Will we get rain or not? Even I am chilly. So far we have not lit the wall heaters. I think I will have to switch my closets though. I've been milking the lighter weight clothes. Time for long sleeve blouses and jeans.

Sarah, I'm sure you clean your George Forman grill as we do but just in case you don't this is the easy way DH cleans it. (he's the dish washer) As soon as I take food off the grill and unplug it, I take two paper towels folded in half and wet them and put on the grill and close the lid. That looses any cooked on food. If I were cleaning it I would also put it close to the edge of the sink so if necessary I could squirt some water on the grill and it would drip in the sink.

Cindy, I have to share: My #1DS is always sending me threads of WalMart shopper pictures. Not the flattering kind. Some are too crazy to believe anyone goes out dressed as the come to shop. I never see these types in our WalMart.

Mentioning WalMart. If anyone is in the market for another slow cooker they have many different kinds on sale right now. I bought a 5 quart Hamilton Beach one yesterday. That is one brand many people say doesn't burn your food. Also watch their ads as we get closer to the holidays as last year they had a special on a 2 quart for $10.00 or lower. I love my 2 quart for smaller recipes for the 2 of us. I also take a 4 serving recipe and cut it in half for this crock. It will hold a 4 serving recipe if it doesn't have too many ingredients.

I'm going to try my hand at getting started on making catagories for our recipe thread. After I get it going maybe some of you will help get the old recipes posted there by copying and pasting. Let me get it started and see how it goes.

I was just reading that about eating gluten before testing. I will likely wait to have testing until after the new insurance David will have us on kicks in since it covers that type of testing. Thanks for the tips. I might have David grab me a turkey breast so that I can have some safe turkey if necessary.

Hi Girls,
Well no snow here Patty. But it sure was cold this morning, I think I heard 25. Got the wood burner going full speed!
Paulissa, great on the weight loss.
Patty, you too are doing great on the loss. Wish I could say that. I get so mad at myself. I have no will power, I hate to exercise. Hub and I are thinking of joining a group of walkers, like a club. Maybe that would get me more motivated. I need to do something for sure.
Sarah, the hot dogs were so good! I ate 2! Then last night we went out to eat and I done good eating a salad then I spoil it by splitting a piece of pecan pie with hubby. Then I come home and just do nothing! There went my eating good for the day. I love food and it's a constant battle!
Cindy, you will be busy next fri! I for one never went shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I do not like crowds at all. I have bought all the major items for our kids.
Well girls, I need to get going. I have a crying baby that needs a bottle.
Not feeling the greatest today. I have such a sinus headache today. Hoping I can take it easy this afternoon, that is IF the baby sleeps good at his nap time.
You all have a great day!

Shar

Hi Everyone!

Sunny and 60's so far this morning. Temps headed up into high 70's.

Ann I'm not sure about the fire on the interstate but that is a yearly problem around here. They try to get a lot of control burns in the Eveglades but there are still uncontrolled fires. Your apple bread sounded good, what a shame it lacked flavor. That's disappointing.

George Foreman grills are so nice. I grill veggies, bacon, the usual burgers and chicken, I make grilled cheese and all kinds of grilled fruit. I tend to use mine a lot. I have to say I'm not fond of cleaning it!

Paulissa congrats on the weight loss! You are really doing great.

Patty you are really doing a great job with the weight loss also! Doesn't it feel great to be able to wear clothes that were once too tight?

Jan I just made the old time plain cranberry sauce yesterday. I'm curious as to how you make the apple orange cranberry sauce. I enjoy cranberries no matter how they are served. JoAnna has several recipes for them in different forms. I want to look up the cookbooklet Home for the Holidays, that one seems to have several cranberry recipes in it. The on that caught my eye was Cranberry Waldorf Salad. Doesn't that sound good?

Shar how are you and DH doing today? How were the chili dogs? Hebrew National makes a good lighter hot dog too.

Louise are you ok? I haven't seen you post in a few days. I hope all is well.

Judy I hope all is good with you. Will y'all be with family during the holidays?

Cindy I was amazed when you said your Christmas shopping was done! Way to go! Black Friday must be such an ordeal for you. I can't imagine dealing with the frustrated, angry shoppers!

I love the way Toni has categorized and organized the recipes on JoAnna Lund site. I wish we could do that here. It is so hard trying to find a recipe here. The search engine doesn't always work either or at least it doesn't work for me.

Glenna even your fall and winter days sound busy! How were your cookies? Hope DH liked them.

Jan I am finally watching Cranford! I really like it so far. Thank you for mentioning the shows back when you were watching them!

Louise we must have been posting at the same time. It is good to see you. Way to go on making a plan for Thanksgiving! Hope your DD and DH are doing good.

I hope your day is happy and blessed!

Louise,
This is the third bp med that I have been on. My head is feeling a little bit funny today. We shall see if I start to get dizzy or not. I will be driving Mom around today, so hopefully not. It is called atenol/chlor. What I would just like to do is go off all of them, but my bp is too high for that. Hopefully, this one will work correctly.

Good Morning Paulissa and Patty and all who will follow! Paulissa, I am not sure if you remember or not but I have been gluten-free for several years now. When you do get tested, you have to eat gluten for at least a month because if you don't and stay on a gluten-free diet it will not come up right. I know because this happened to me and also I have read
it in several gluten-free books I have. I actually have a lot of Gluten-Free Books. We are invited out for Thanksgiving so I am going to bring a very large salad and a brown rice dish. The people are into Natural foods so I will be asking where she bought the turkey and how she cooked it. I do have gluten every once in a while but my stomach suffers when I do. It is very easy for me to be on The Mediterranean Diet because it is mostly veggies, fruits and whole grains etc. I am going to look through one of my gluten-free cookbooks and see if I can also bring another dish along just in case I cannot eat the turkey. We are having my father-in-law over in the morning so I will be cooking then. I
lean toward vegetarian but like you I am not completely. The only hard thing for me is I am allergic to most fish and all shell fish so I stay completely away from fish. I shop a lot at Whole Foods also. I shop at Trader Joe's and Sprouts and also go to the local Farmer's Markets around here.
Patty, I read you other posts. I am sure the people don't believe what your mother says. They can see that you take her out. What kind of blood pressure medicine are you on? I was on one that caused my legs to cramp really, really bad but I am on another one now that does not cause leg cramping? I was reading over yesterday's post and although I cannot remember what everyone said, I do remember someone asking what we are Thankful for. I am Thankful of all of you on this Team. I am also Thankful for everyone on the Prayer Walking Team I am on. I consider everyone on both Teams friends even though I have never met any one in person. I am very Thankful for my husband and my daughter. I am very Thankful for JESUS! I am very Thankful for all of my friends. I am very Thankful that so far I am still Cancer Free. Even though the Merkel Cancer usually does come back, I am praying that it does not. I am very Thankful for the Cancer Treatment Centers Of America in Goodyear, Arizona and all of their staff. I am Thankful for my in-laws. I am very Thankful for my relatives. I am very Thankful for the Christian Cancer Support Group I belong to. I have a lot to be Thankful for. It would take too long to list everything! Today is chilly out. OK, it is chilly for Arizona! It is not cold but chilly.
I think I might get hubby up and go for a nice long walk. Everyone, please have a Really Great Friday!
GOD BLESS!
Louise

Turkey is not necessarily GF because sometimes gluten is in the liquid it is injected with. I will have to ask which brand they're cooking and research. No matter how careful I am, I will likely get some gluten that day but would prefer not to.

Morning Paulissa,
We must have been posting at the same time. Can't you have turkey? That is gluten free isn't it?

Good job on the weight loss. I too lost a little bit, and since summer it is 16 pounds. Yesterday, I wore a plaid shirt that I could button up and not have to wear one underneath. When I first bought it, I really liked it, but couldn't button around my tummy and bottom. So I had to wear a shirt underneath, and keep the plaid shirt as a jacket. Well, yesterday I could button it up...yay.

I still wonder if my weight loss has anything to do with the diabetes, but since I am keeping my blood sugar where it is supposed to be, I don't know. Whatever the reason, I like it. I am just having less at meals, not very much sugar at all, (instead of half a pan of brownies a day, I know terrible) and being careful on my portions.

I have also been watching an eating disorder program on tv. Can't remember the name of the channel. On charter, it is channel 15. They have lots of info on the entertainment industry. Anyway, so far it has been girls that are anorexic or bulimic. But it has helped me a bit to hear how they are getting better, most of them anyway. They get a little bit of counseling on the program also. It is helping me to think about the food before I eat it, most of the time anyway. To make wiser choices, and less food.

Good morning friends,

It is another cool morning here today. Thirty five degrees and it will make it up to about 45 today. I don't mind the chill when the sun is out but tend to get cranky when it's cold and gray for days on end. It looks like we're due for some snow again over the weekend and again right about Thanksgiving Day but nothing heavy as of right now.

I am happy to report that my total loss this week is 3 lbs and that I have exercised for at least 45 minutes daily. I'm coming up on a 20 lb loss here soon and that feels awesome.

I've been reading Living Gluten Free for Dummies and there is a list of symptoms in there that apply to celiac disease and gluten sensitivity and I have all but 4 of those. I think it is time to have some testing done. I do know that I feel considerably better without it. More energy, less brain fog, less aches and pains, no daily headache, the list goes on and on. My biggest GF challenge to date will be Thanksgiving but I am going to stick with the fruits and veggies that aren't loaded up with things that I don't know the content of and I will bake a loaf of GF, soy free, dairy free bread the day before and take a couple of pieces with me so that I can have bread with everyone else. Any other ideas, friends?

I did A LOT of cooking yesterday: I made the mini mac and cheese muffins and black bean soup. The soup was pretty bland, in my opinion. It needed something despite having a little kick due to the cayenne and it is a very thin soup despite being blended at the end. I ended up adding 2 cups of lentils that I cooked yesterday to the soup. We really enjoyed the mini mac and cheese. I was worried about how the dairy, gluten and soy free cheese that I bought would taste and while it tastes different than dairy cheese, it still melted OK and tasted cheesy. David had 2 so that was my seal of approval.

I don't have much going on today. I have to review the benefits options for next year, so that I can go into work on Monday and sign up for them on-line. It is active enrollment, so if you don't sign up, you don't have coverage. I have a bit of straightening up to do and more recipes to get into the blog so that I can give away the pamphlets, etc. I'll do my workout after breakfast and I want to spend more time reading GF for Dummies.

What are you up today?
