Good Evening all. DD's friend that lives in the desert town we will go to tomorrow, says the night time temps have been down to 40. Brrrrrrrr. The days will probably be hot. I want to make my Frog Eye Salad here at home before we leave in the morning. It will be about a two hour drive into the mountains and then down to just below sea level elevation.

Glenna, thank you for the info on Helvetia. I looked at a couple of the videos and so interesting. Makes me want to get on the road in the RV and go sight seeing. We just love the little towns. Our trip to Ma. in May was a hurry up trip and we took interstate and toll roads. You don't see much of the country on them.

Paulissa, glad things are moving along well, pun intended. Good that you can get some computer work caught up.

Jan, I hope the bug doesn't keep you down long. DH and I have not had our flu shots yet. The darn list of where to get them for our medical group came the afternoon the last day they were offered. They were giving them for 6 weeks prior to that. The post office dropped the ball.

I must jump in the shower so I can watch Survivor.

It is rather humbling to be drinking and talking about prune juice and Metamucil since I've always thought of them as things old people do. I have to realize that I'm not getting any younger lol! It sure is humbling. . .

Dinner is in the oven and smelling good. I am anxious for David to come home and to relax over dinner. He has been taking such good care of me that it's kind of nice to be able to put an easy meal together and take the load off him. I got the dishes done and dinner, put tons of recipes up on the blog(s) today and that's been the extent of my activity. Non-tiring, but yet productive. I think tonight I will pick out a crochet pattern to make (a scarf I think) so I can try out my new wooden hook.

I googled the town you've been discussing and it is so interesting to see. I have the itch to travel. I have to get my passport going after the 1st of the year for the Canada trip.

Ann,

I almost forgot. We were talking about the Swiss village near us. If you google Helvetia, WV, it has different videos you can click on and view. One of them gives a tour of the town and features Swiss songs and some yoddeling. It was settled in 1863 (I think) by Swiss people who brought alot of their traditions with them. It is very interesting. My first husband was from that area so that is why I am familiar with it.

They make a cheese they call Swiss cheese. Not like the swiss cheese you buy in stores. It's more of a cheese made by the swiss. I made it several years ago. They used to tell tales on the cheesemakes by saying they aged the cheese in the manure pile outside the barn!!! This is not true. But anyway, it still makes the gossip though. As they say, never let the truth get in the way of a good story!!

Anyway I thought some of you might like to check this out.

I have eaten at the restuarant featured in the videos. The Hutte (pronounced WHO TAY). Actually I cook alot like the dishes they serve there!! They make homemade bread and sausage is a common dish. I don't serve the ale and beer!! Not into that!!

Hi Ladies.

It was nice to read your posts.

Jan, I hope that bug doesn't bite you very hard!! Guess it's that time of year. All kinds of things will be floating around. Hope you get to feeling fit real soon. So sorry you had to miss your meeting. I am sure everyone there missed seeing you.

Paulissa, I hope everything keeps going well for you. When you mentioned prune juice, it made me remember when I was a kid, Mom would cook prunes and we would eat them just like any other fruit. For no reason, except that we liked them. (Mom was excellent about variety and trying new things). Anyway I was much older before I learned what people drank prune juice for!! Took me forever to find out why people smiled or laughed when talking about prune juice.

cindy and Shar, So good to hear from both of you.

I made hot rolls and a few pepperoni rolls for dh today. I love to make yeast breads. It is one of my fav things to do.

So we had fresh bread, mac and cheese, and Oriential stir fry for supper. Plus canned tomatoes.

It was a nice warm day in WV. I hung laundry out on the porch today. I love and appreciate these beautiful days this time of year. They are precious now. I am sure we will be getting snow before too much longer.

I still have not got caught up on things. It seems like if I miss one day, it takes 3 to catch up.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. Love and prayers and (((())))) to all!

Glenna

Good morning ladies,

It's a beautiful, sunny day but I'm staying in because I've got a bug trying to catch me. I might step out on the patio for a bit but it's cold out there. I'm missing my TOPS meeting and I will miss seeing my friends but it's not worth passing anything on to them.

Bruce had his last physical theray appointment yesterday and all went well.

Today will be puttering day and watching old movies on AMC.

Cindy, Housework isn't as fun as visiting daughters but it's a necessary thing. Do you have many leaves to rake? We only have one tree that drops leaves and it's always so late in the fall they usually just blow away.

Shar, When I lived in a big city I blamed the dust on the city. Now it's the dust goblins. Sometimes I think I got the floor all swept and then the cats fritz around and swish some dust bunnies out from under the kitchen island. Hope your day goes well.

Paulissa, Have a good restful day.

Good morning friends,

It is a chilly, drizzly day here which makes me want to sleep even more than I have been.

Things are going OK and the plumbing is working again, although it is requiring prune juice mixed with Metamucil 3xs a day to keep it that way. I can't afford to have those issues with a bowel repair. The CT showed everything is otherwise fine.

Today I'm going through cookbooks that I don't use much, putting the recipes I do use from them up on the blog and getting ready to Freecycle the books. I need to get rid of some kitchen clutter so it's time to deal with this.

I have no idea what lunch will be but I'm leaning toward spaghetti squash and sauce, with some veggies and fruit on the side.

Sarah, it was good to hear from you. I understand about the withdrawing. Just remember that this is a safe place to vent, cry, talk and share.

I have a question to ask of those of you who eat more vegan-style meals. Is there a particular cookbook that you like more than others? I've been using the 8 week cholesterol cure book, Heart Healthy, the Mediterranean Diet Cookbook, you on a diet, some kosher cookbooks, and Eating Well mags lately. What do you like?

Good morning Cindy and all,

Cindy, house work never is done! My house gets so dusty, in the summer I blame it on having the windows open when I can, then in the colder months I blame it on our woodstove! It's a never ending battle. But I have to do the same today.
Sarah, it was so good to see a post from you. You know we are all here for you. Check your mail.
Paulissa, I hope you are doing better and getting things moving in the right direction!!!!
Another beautiful day here and close to 70, just a few more days then this weather will be history they say.
Well girls I am going to go and start some cleaning and take advantage of the baby being asleep. Some days I feel I am just too old for this anymore.
I will be back to read up on you all.
