Good Afternoon. It is a nice day to be lazy. I have read the paper and changed the bed with clean sheets. Why do I always wash sheets for our bed on Sunday. Just a habit from working days that I still hang on to.
Jan, it is good that your DH tells you when he isn't feeling up to par. Has he had a follow up Dr. app't since his surgery? I know he was having trouble getting his records transferred. My DH had one two weeks following his surgery. Then he had to have regular lab work up that he still has to do some years later. We're hoping that next weeks work will get us through into Oct. while we are traveling.
I guess we have decided to leave Friday of Labor Day week end. We really don't like to travel on holiday week ends but we want to get to Seattle so DH can visit a buddy that is in a nursing home before we go a bit south for the rally. I think we'll be o k with places to stop over the holiday as there are Lodges along the way we generally stop at and they should have an open space. Mostly people in transit use the lodges or if they are visiting family in the area.
I know DH will want to stop in southern Oregon to have lunch with his niece. Her DH is on a round the world cruise on a transport ship. I believe he said there are less than 50 people on the ship. Something he always wanted to do. He'll be gone 6 months. I know this didn't interest DH niece at all, it wouldn't me.
DH planted some marigolds by our door step yesterday. He always likes to plant something there when we get ready to take a trip. I can't figure that one out. I guess the mail man can enjoy them.
On Saturday DH & I went out to breakfast with his former coworkers. Actually, one of the ladies worked there after we transferred to Portland area but we had a good time talking about what it was like working for that employer. They used to send DH on business trips to other places they ran. One of the ladies told us about being sent to NJ and she refused to drive there so when she finished her work and was ready to go to the airport she ordered a limosine. She was wondering how she was going to feel riding in one but when it came it was just a big, dirty old cab with extra space and not the luxury ride she thought she would get.
DH, DS & I went to a flea market in the country and then out to lunch (no cook day!). DH felt a bit dizzy and that concerned me. I see three of his medications have the possibility for that side effect. It's a bit disappointing when he felt he was on the road to a good recovery. We just need to take cautions when we're out walking, etc.
Ok this is the third time I'm doing this message. GRRR Mozilla isn't very stable today for some reason. So this post will be the abridged version.
Louise I'm so glad you are feeling better! I hope you get to take your swim tonight. You have a very thoughtful DH, bringing you soup when you felt bad was so sweet of him!
Patty I'm very sorry to hear that your DH needs surgery. Like the other ladies said it is good to have a plan of action and know what you are facing! You both are in my prayers.
Cindy how are your hand and knee? I'm sure they are probably painful when you try to get around. I've had my fair share of scrapes and bruises and they aren't fun. How was the class you took?
Jan congratulations on your new walking partner! Enjoyable for both you and DH. I'm sorry DH wasn't up to par the other day but hopefully now he is feeling better. Isn't Mrs Miniver a wonderful movie? I love it and have seen it several times and always bawl during the scene in the car when the planes are shooting.
Glenna you are doing your thing with your garden! This winter it will be so wonderful to go grab some fruit or veggie you canned/froze yourself. If DH thinks 72 is cold he needs to move to Florida. I do kind of understand though, after it is hot down here for so long and then gets a tad cooler I stay cold too.
Twinsters hope you find the cukes. Won't be long until school starts. It starts down here this week.
Shar how are you doing?
Ann I get such a kick out of your DH. It gets me laughing at his adventures. Did you find anything at the party store? It is always fun to read about your trips. Have you made any salads lately? Cold foods are tasting very good lately.
Today I'm cooking a pot of beans. A lady from Puerto Rico taught me the way they fix them so that is what's cooking today at my house. I still haven't made the zucchini muffins. I'm really procrastinating on those for some reason. My landlady brought me a few plums, can't wait for them to ripen fully.
Good Lunch time everyone. I'm not ready for lunch yet though as I had breakfast late. I was up early but don't eat breakfast until after I read the paper. DH likes breakfast as soon as he gets up. Our newspaper has ungone major changes this week and it is so hard to get use to. The paper is much narrower and 6 columns of small print. The first day I read the changes I thought my eyesite was failing me. Poor DH needs his magnifying glass to read a lot of it. I wish they would 'iron out' the wrinkles in the paper, litterly. Since they have gone to cheaper thin paper the press make wrinkles the print. The Dear Abby column is beside the TV daily guide. About 1 1/2 inches wide and the print is very tiny. Of course the price of the paper keeps going up. It sure doesn't look like a big city newspaper any more.
Louise, I'm glad you are feeling better today. Enjoy your swim but don't get sun burned.
We are having BLT's for supper. I bought some nice big tomatoes at Costco and have been wanting a BLT. I will make a broccoli salad to go with the sandwiches. Gotta fill DH up. DD ate the last of the couscous salad last night. I laugh becasue there was red onion and yellow and red bell peppers in there and she doesn't like them but I had cut them really small.

Good Morning Everyone! It is a beautiful sunny day here in Arizona! I imagine that it will be getting hot today. I love the sun! I am so spoiled because most of the time we have sunny days. Patty, I will be praying for your husband and for you. Actually, I have been praying. I am glad that the doctor has a plan--that really is a good thing. Jan, I am praying for your husband and for you. I am also praying for your boys. Cindy, I am praying that you recover quickly from your fall. Ann, no I did not eat any eggs. I actually do try to get the eggs that are from Arizona to support the local farmers. I think I ate something with gluten in it. When I do that it really does a job on my stomach. I try to be careful but sometimes it is hard. I am feeling much better today. I am planning to go swimming in just a little while. That is if I can get hubby up to go with me. I had a really good healthy breakfast this morning. Patty, I thought of you because it was a "vegan" breakfast. I had two servings of fruit and a slice of gluten-free bread. I am not going vegan but I am trying to eat more vegetarian or vegan meals and not have meat or poultry at every meal. I am trying to stick to my six mini-meals as I do so much better doing that. My blood sugar is regulated when I do that. Well, everyone, please HAVE A VERY WONDERFUL SATURDAY! GOD BLESS! Louise
