Barb, welcome. What part of WA do you live?

I love the Seattle area. On a flight from Vancouver, I had to stop at Spokane and I was surprised to see the difference between the east and west side of the state.

I fixed two H E dishes tonight. One I would not make again. Shrimp Alfredo Deluxe from Cooking Healthy Across America. The baby shrimp in it had no flavor. I even offered to make DH a sandwich.

This afternoon I made Cottage Cherry Salad. I've made it before and it is excellent. Serves 8 but I divide it in 6 servings. This was from Grandma's Comfort Food Made Healthy.

Welcome Barb.

Well, I just didn't want to sit in this HOT condo and stew about the proceedings. So I jumped into my air conditioned car and drove around. I needed comfort food (I know you all understand this) so I went and had Mac & Cheese - I turn the cell phone off when I'm eating.

When I got home I checked my messages - at 4:57 there was a voice mail from the title company. The buyer/builder had just come in with the money and signed the papers, since they close at 5 we could come in Monday morning and pick the check up.

You can only imagine all the "what if's" that had been going thru my mind.

So, now I only have to stress about finding a job.

Hi Everyone!

Nice hot and humid day here today. It is August so the hotter days are on the downslide.

Patty if I have extra veggies I either make soup or roast them. I sometimes throw them in a pan all chunked up, add garlic and a can of diced tomatoes and cook them in the oven.

Ann the wall hanging sounds so pretty. I think they add so much to a room. It sounds like the newspaper had some responses to its correction!

Hi Barb, welcome!

Deb it is good to see you! It sounds like you are really having a time with your vacant lot. Hopefully it will get settled soon.

Louise are you swimming? Hope you are having a fun day!

Jan how did the sale go?

Cindy must have had a busy day after her night of work.

Twinters did you hide all day????

Glenna must be in her garden or working those pickles!

Hope y'all have a great evening!

Barb,
Are you new? welcome

I added the liquid from the can of beans, then an extra can of water. The tomatoes will cook down, I was thinking, and add lots of liquid. I think most of the veggies will.
I just cut up the veggies however I wanted. Celery, sliced, carrots sliced, beans, cut up about 1 inch length, onions, large diced, crookneck squash, quartered lengthwise, then sliced, the grape tomatoes, cut in half, the large tomatoes into chunks with 8 pieces per tomato. I think that is all. oh, the cabbage, that was quartered, then sliced. Hope this helps.

I just found a 1 1/2 cups of pinto beans in the freezer, so I popped them in the crockpot too. Also added 2 TB. turbinado sugar(raw sugar) to offset the acid from the tomatoes. lots of liquid in there now. It smells yummy

I decided to write a letter to the Food Editor of our paper regarding the amount of cheese in the Chili Rellano recipe. I got a response saying I was correct that the correction in this weeks paper was wrong. I wonder how many other people wrote in.

I have had a small quilt type of wall hanging that I bought at least 4 years ago. It has been in the bag I bought it in. Well, today I decided I would make the loops needed to hang it on a rod and sew them on. I had bought the rod a couple of weeks ago. It's probably 4 feet square all in black and white. Jan, I bought it in a little shop along the Columbia Gorge. There are nine white blocks, each with a machine embroidery design. the borders are different black and white prints. Now I just have to get DH to put the rod up for me. It is going in the computer room. I also have four framed pictures that have been sitting on the cedar chest that I need to hang. I'm so good at procrastinating.

Evening girls,
I had some veggies that needed to be used up soon, so I made a big soup out of them. Put them in my huge crockpot and they will cook overnight.
I had onions, celery, carrots, fresh yellow beans, 1 crookneck squash, grape tomatoes and 4 large tomatoes, some cabbage, and I added a can of black beans. I would have added two cans of beans, but I only had one. I also added beef seasoning, salt and pepper. thats it. It should be all done by morning. I could even have it for breakfast.

What do you do with too many veggies and not enough time to use them up?
Patty

Forgot to tell you girls that I put a dress on this afternoon that I haven't been able to wear for 3 years. It is even looser on me now than 3 years ago...isn't that great. I was happy

At least I can get on the computer today. Not much going on here. I can hear the Marine Jets flying this morning. They have been quiet for quite a while. Maybe a squadron is returning home from over seas. That would be wonderful. The sound of freedom.

I got up late, had breakfast late and guess lunch will be late too. I'm in a quandry on what to fix for supper and there are no left overs in the frig.
