Jan, I just came to say Praise The LORD for such wonderful news about your husband and also your weight loss! I am really tired so I will write a longer post tomorrow. I just came to see if there was news about Jan's husband and saw the Great News! GOD BLESS! Louise
Jan I'm so happy your DH will come home tomorrow! Wonderful news! Also congrats on your weight loss. You are really doing great.
Ann you had quite an adventure with your DH. It must have been nerve wracking to be away from home and have to try to do the hookup and worry about DH.
Patty you had a busy day too iit sounds like. After yu are in the heat and humidity you kind of get use to it.
Today I got to watching shows on the History channel about the Sphinx and the Pyramids. I just eat this type of show up, to me it is fascinating. With all the machines we have today they say we couldn't build like the Egyptians did. Isn't that amazing? Very interesting shows.
This week I have made a few dishes. First thing was the Farmers Market Soup. The recipe calls for 8 ounces of ground beef, I chopped up 8 pounces of chicken breast and used chicken broth rather than the beef broth it called for. Excellent! This recipe is great using checken or ground beef. I also added a can of diced tomatoes, tad of Italian seasoning and tomato can of water.
Next I made Mexican Corn Bread from Man in Mind cookbook. 5 *'s! Excellent recipe. I made by the recipe except I threw in some diced jalapeno pepper, I like spicy. Page 290, well worth trying if you like cornbread over the top!
Then I made Mandarin Mountain Pudding Treats from Fast, Cheap and Easy page 175. Another 5*'s! Excellent and VERY easy.
So those are my kitchen adventures for the week. I had some good eats!
Evening Girls, Jan, such good news on your hubby. Such good news. Praise God.
Yes, I really enjoy the old-fashioned flowers. Sweet william, hollyhock, spider wort, roses. More that I like but can't remember the name of them.
Ann, wow, what a scary thing to have to drive the camper by yourself...scary
I just got home. Left at 10:30 for senior center, then Mom came here until 1:50, when we left for town. I had to stop at Sam's and pick up a few things. Then I got gas, and had to have help from someone on how to do it. Man, I sure miss my hubby when I have to do those things by myself...lol Then to the foot dr. Then back home, we put groceries away, picked up hubby and went to McDonalds. Mom bought us supper. Now wasn't that nice... I had neglected to have protein with breakfast and lunch, so had a double cheeseburger for supper at McD's. That should hold me, but it won't go well with my body system, that's for sure...lol
Anyway, it was a hot, 86, humid day today to be out and about. How on earth do you do it Sarah?
Have a good evening girls. Jan, again, such good news. Patty
Hi. Jan and all to follow. That is wonderful news that your DH will come home tomorrow. Now you will have to play Nurse Nancy for a while. Your plight reminded me what we went through a few years ago.
DH and I were camping at an Air Force retreat type of place between Boston and Plymouth Rock. Right on the ocean. There were 11 camp sites and cabins and chalets. The cliffs use to be an Army ammunition site with a look out to Boston Harbor. DH had been walking up and down the cliff roads and came in huffing and puffing. The next morning he still was short of breath and said he had pains. I went to the office and they told us where there was a doctor in town. Now getting to and from this recreation area was a task in itself. All kinds of different roads to take. DH insisted on driving of course. The doctors office said we should go to the hospital for better service. It was at least 25 miles away and of course we're not familiar with the area. Then when we got to the hospital had a terrible time finding a parking spot for our truck with dual wheels on the rear. DH waited and waited and they finally admited him. The next day they took him by ambulance to Boston's Brigham and Womens hospital to have a stint put in. Then back to the other hospital where he had a pacemaker put in. Now we're coming up on Labor Day week end and we were to be out of the camp ground because people had reserved sites for the long week end. I think it was Friday that DH was discharged. The campground had arranged for a couple of rigs to double up their parking.
Now I have never hooked up the truck and trailer but I knew how to drive the truck pulling the trailer. There was one other 5th wheel in the park and I asked him if he would help me hook up that afternoon when DH was released. He couldn't because they had to leave to take their grandson home in the other end of the state for school. The camper behind us had a trailer and he said he would help me hook up. Well when we got back to camp they were gone. Next to us was a motor home that we have never talked to. That man said he would help me. I backed the truck up to the 5th wheel and it connected on my first try. The man got the hoses put away and off we went with me driving. It was about 100 miles to my mothers where we went and spent the next week before DH had an app't with his doctor. After that he was fine. I did do more of the driving once we left but it has been over 12 years and he's on his second pacemaker.
This morning I went to Penney's with a discount coupon that came in the mail. I haven't been there in a long time. I went looking at bedspreads and didn't see a thing I liked. Then off to the Alfred Dunner clothes. I found two pair of slacks and three blouses that all co match that were marked down plus my coupon. I tried to find a pair of the light jeans in my size but what they had were all short. Then I went to Bed Bath and Beyond looking at bedspread. They must have had at least 50 big pictures of them on the wall and not one reached out and grabbed me.
I came home after a stop at the produce store. This probably was my big eventure for the week.
The good news is DH is coming home tomorrow. They moved him from CCU to the regular part of the hospital. He is feeling good except for his back. Now that he can get up he can hardly stand up straight. I think that will straighten out once he gets home and is able to move around more.
The other good news is I lost 1.25 lb. this week and made my 12th week "in the blue". This will all help as we get DH onto a healthier diet and walking when he is able to do that.
Patty, I bought 3 kinds of hollyhocks several years ago and didn't realize they "replant" themselves. I decided to move them from the flower bed by my patio over to another one and lo and behold they come up all over the place! Even in the rocks. They are such a nice, old fashioned kind of flower.
I picked spinach and swiss chard last night and stir fried them in a little olive oil. Very good.
It's only 58 degrees this afternoon.
Hope everyone is having a great middle of the week day.
