Good evening friends,

I haven't been here for a while but I have been making strides with my eating and exercise. We were in Boulder last weekend for a memorial svc for David's aunt and did lots of hiking, walking and horseback, clean (vegetarian) eating and it was the jump start I needed so I am keeping up the good habits.

We went to the Farmer's Market this afternoon and I picked leeks, zucchini, tomatoes, romaine, sweet corn, watermelon, strawberries and peppers. There was a lady there who was selling hula hoops for fitness so I purchased one and can't wait until later this evening when it starts cooling down to work with it. Fun!!!

School is going well and I have another 3 weeks before finals and a much needed break. I'll be taking family law in the fall and then taking the winter quarter off so that I can enjoy the holidays.

It is sweltering here in Omaha - 97 and high humidity has it feeling like 113 degrees. I'm ready for it to cool down a bit for a while.

Patty, you are making a great effort for your help. A little at a time will add up and you will get stronger.

Your mexican casserole sounds really good.

I haven't had time to crochet in months! I'm getting antsy to make some scarves. I want to make some items for Christmas and Hanukkah gifts.

Tis a lovely day. Back to normal days for us with a nice breeze. We don't even have any fans on.

Afghans, I've been reading this morning and there was a short story about a lady crocheting afghans for VA hospitals. I know crocheting would be much faster than knitting them. The one in the picture was done in squares hitched together.

Last night I was TV channel surfing when I came across the Food Channel and a series on how products were made. This one was mostly on Mexican foods. First up was the bottled hot sauce and the big convention they have every year with all kinds of hotter than hot sauce. I know DH and another fellow try to out do each other with the hottest of the hot. Next product was taco shells and the corn tortillas. A lady said if you lay the cheese first in the store bought crisp U shaped taco shell and put the meat on top of the cheese, then the lettuce and extas, it sorta helps keep the shell from breaking at first bite. Then there was the man trying to make the world's largest enchillada. He said traditional enchilladas are flat layered with sauce between them. I know I've made a casserole of layering them but also like my rolled chicken enchilladas. I don't make them very often.

Heather, I got my Master Cook Cooking Light disk out. It is a 5.0. Will that work? I'll have to have DH load it again in the computer.

Hi Cindy,

I bet your quilt is beautiful. Your granddaughter will treasure it forever.

Patty I will use different patterns for the lap afghans. I want to get the instructions for the mile a minute afghan. I am making afghans that are going to be sturdy because I'm sure they will get rough washings. A lot of them will be the one i call continual granny afghan It's a no brainer and I think they are pretty.

hi girls, it is another hot one today. right now it is 95. the weatherman is calling for scattered storms in the evenings all week. it doesn t look much like rain at the moment.

i am working on the quilt this afternoon. i have it laid out on the diningroom table and sewing the sides. my cat thinks it is hers and insists on getting up on the table and curling up in the quilt. she really does know better than to be on the table but the comfort of the quilt is too much for her. plus the bad thing is she is a long-haired cat so there is cat hair all over the place.lol

we talked about going to the horse auction this afternoon but it is just too hot. we almost bought another horse last month. we are always on the lookout for another good one. we have so many grands that love to ride that another horse would come in handy.

patty, i am so glad you are feeling better. don t tire yourself out too much. we all want your back to heal. you are very blessed to be able to work on your afghans and knitting so much. i look forward to the day i can quilt and sew whenever i want.

louise, i like going to church with my hubby also. sometimes he can t make it and i feel so lonely without him. i understand how you feel.

Yes, I will be careful with the walking. I can feel a difference each week with my back getting better. Chiro again on Tues.
For lunch I made a mexican layered casserole. Lots of steps, but it turned out pretty good.layers
1/2 the tomato sauce and salsa,mixed together
corn tortillas
veggie burger, onions and celery
rice
kidney and pinto beans
vegan(cashew) cheese sauce
tortillas
rest of tomato sauces
vegan cheese
bake for 30 min at 350 degrees.

when I served it, I put crispy corn tortillas on the bottom of the plate
added some corn, then the casserole and chopped us each a small tomato
yum

Hi Everyone!

It is off and on again sun here today. It just can't decide whether to be sunnt or cloudy I guess. But it dud decide to be hot.

Patty congrats on finishing the afghan. My next project is going to be lap afghans for nursing homes for the patients with Alzeheimers. They go pretty fast. Be careful with the walking. Your back might not like the movement as it tries to heal.

Louise are you taking a swim today? Sounds like you already have a full day planned though. Hope your DD is doing good. Evening services with your DH will be nice.

Not much going on here today. I'm going through recipes and trying to get some kind of organization happening. I am watching the movie Hope Floats as I organize.

Well I am off to finish the movie and putter around here.

Thank you Ann, I'm writing the Jones ham down again! Hopefully this time I won't lose it, I put it under a magnet on the fridge.

Good Morning Patty and all who may follow! Patty, I think you did great on your walk considering you have
been having trouble with your back. Please do not over do. Your breakfast sounded good. I guess I should record what I had for accountability. As you know, I am not ready to go vegetarian yet. So for breakfast I had one Gluten-Free Chicken Sausage, 1 Slice of Gluten-Free Bread and 1 Peach with 16 oz. of
Spring Water. I had 16 oz. of Spring Water early this morning with my Thyroid Medicine. I am not sure what I will be having for lunch. I am thinking
1/2 Cup or 1 Cup of Rice Pasta with chopped fresh tomatoes and onions and 1 or 2 ounces of Feta Cheese.
Then later for a snack 1/4 Cup of Hummus with 1 sliced cuccumber. Maybe supper a great big veggie salad. Evening snack will be Gluten-Free Yoplait Nonfat yogurt. I will drink lots of water. Anyway, that is what I am thinking. I still have to go grocery shopping. DH is working today. I will not be going to the Church will have been going to this morning. I want to wait for DH and go to one of the other churches that have Sunday Morning service in the afternoon. One has a service at 4:30p.m. and the
other has a service at 5p.m. The services are the same that they had had in the morning. I really want
to wait for DH and go together. I have been doing laudry this morning. I have more to do. Right now the dishes are running in the dishwasher. I do have some that I have to hand wash. I want to dust and rearrange the bookcases. I did not get to them yesterday as planned. Well, everyone, please have A Very Blessed And Wonderful Sunday!

Morning Girls,
I walked 1/4 mile first thing this morning. About killed me. so I came in. Just walked another 1/2 mile. Will try to get in the last 1/4 mile, for 1 mile today. I have not been walking at all. pitiful

For breakfast we had oatmeal, whole wheat toast and blueberries. yum

I finished another afghan yesterday. The scrap one.
Will work on finishing another one this week. I use up more yarn working on afghans than when I just knit hats. That is a goodly thing. I need to get my stash down some.

Staying home today. I think the mushroom noodle casserole for lunch with carrots.

Then a mexican casserole for supper with a salad. Or maybe change them around. we shall see.

What in going on for you today. A lazy day here today. I do want to mop the kitchen floor, and clean the stove top. We will see if I get that done of not. lol
