You may have a recipe for which I am searching. Walnut hamburger. I used to make Swedish Meatballs with it. They were great. If you have that please send me a copy of the recipe.
The Scandinavian Festival? In Junction City? Have they changed the date for that festival? It used to be held in July at the same time as the county fair. Third week in July I think.
See you later. Love, Judy
Patty I kept looking at the ribbing and thought it was knitted but I wasn't sure. The hats look so warm and will not only keep someone warmer but also they are awesome looking! You do such nice handwork Patty!

Hats are knitted.

I was early yesterday and running late today!
Another hot and humid day here today, it sounds like we all have different weather. I guess I think because it is hot here that it is the same everywhere.
Jan I'm so excited you found a journal! I hope your son enjoys it. I think journals are varied and interesting.
Patty the hats are very nice. Are they crocheted or knitted? The ribbing looks like knitting.
Louise yard sales are a lot of work! Getting things priced was always my problem. I remember a yard sale my Mom and I had years ago that people were trying to do lay-a-way!
Ann I'm like Jan, how in the sam hill did they ever get that safe into the basement? Wow, Banks probably don't have banks that safe! I hope the gentleman is still interested in your books. Do you know I had forgotten about chicory coffee and I was partiallt raised in New Orleans! Oh how I loved it when I was given a sip of that fragrant coffee as a kid!!
Cindy you are going to have fun next weekend with the little ones. It is so nice of you to give the parents a break. I know they will be so grateful.
Glenna I haven't made a lot of HE's potato recipes simply because I usually just bake potatoes. I have made some of the potato salads and there is a german potato salad I loved if I can figure out which book it is in. I think it is in the Diabetic cookbook.
Thank you everyone for your coffee input. Ya'll have such good ideas.
No cooking here today, still having the fresh fruits for breakfast and snacks. I did steam an ear of corn on the cob last night for dinner. I used one of the Ziploc steam bags. The corn cooked on the cob in those bags has a great taste.
Have a great evening everyone!

Good Afternoon Everyone! The sun has been going in and out all day today. Strange for Arizona, especially at this time of year. Today I have been going through things to put in our yard sale. I should say patio sale as we don't have a yard. I still cannot believe all the things we have kept through the years and never used! Also, I am selling
a lot of my books and toys and puzzles I had when I was teaching preschool. I don't think I will ever use them again! I called disability again today. This time they did have me on file. They told me that it was not processed yet. I filed it March 22, 2010. I asked when it would be reviewed and they said it can take anywhere from three to five more months and maybe longer. I think I am going to call back in a few weeks to find out about the status again. Maybe if I nicely hound them, I will get somewhere! This just gets me! They make it so hard for some and so easy for others! Well, everyone, please have A GREAT REST OF THE DAY!
Everyone seems to be really busy today.
I went to prayer group this morning then on the way home noticed a garage sale sign so DH and I went to that awhile ago. I found a new leatherbound journal that I'll give to one of my sons for Christmas (remember Sarah reminded us of that!) and a Norweigen tile that goes with a collecction I have by the same artist. This one is called Lefse Girl. Do you know what lefse is? In case you don't, it's a soft Norweigen flat bread made with mashed potatoes in the batter. It's quite a process and I've never made them but they will be at the Scandinavian festival next weekend. You lightly butter them and put a little sprinkle of cinnamon & sugar on, then roll them up and cut into ribbon pieces. What will be even better next weekend is rice pudding with fruit soup. I will really have to plan my food for that weekend so I can enjoy some.
While I was reading about Patty knitting and Cindy sewing I remembered my sister's step-granddaughter-in-law went over to visit a couple of weekends ago and wanted my sister to teach her to sew. The girl brought bunches of fabrics and patterns she bought. They cut and sewed but in the end there was so much my sister volunteered to finish sewing them. The thought just occurred to me how is that girl going to learn to sew if my sister does it all! My sister is one of those people who when someone wants something she finds her arm flying up in the air "I'll do it"! I guess at 67 that isn't going to change, lol.
Good weather is supposed to be coming starting tomorrow. I'll be in the garden.
Glenna, I don't have any special potato recipes but I do still have one kind of potato to plant and I'm glad for the reminder.
Ann, I have to wonder how in the world they got that heavy safe into the basement in the first place! Hope the guy is still interested in the geneology books.

I made my vegan lasagna recipe again. It is so good.
I made the ricotta cheese
I made the cheese sauce (to replace mozzarella)
I made the spaghetti sauce
I already had some walnut burger in the freezer from last time, so no need to make that today.
Just layer with lasagna noodles, bake and yum yum
I did put 2 more hats on my blog.
It's hot and humid in WV today. And a chance of showers throughout the weekend.
We had fresh lettuce, onions, and radishs from the garden today. I always look forward to the fresh veggies.
I have just been doing routine things today. Dishes, laundry, etc. Also made some cottage cheese.
I thought I'd look through JoAnna's recipes for some potato recipes. I have several in the cellar and they are starting to sprout. It won't be too long before we have fresh ones from the garden.
Have a happy day, everyone!

hi ann and patty...........well patty don t feel bad about the sweater. i am working on a dress for my great grand daughter and i am having a time. i have been working on it all week and i only have the shoulder straps and part of the front bodice and back bodice. i am determined to finish it!!! it is like when my girls were little and i tried to make barbie clothes. goodness the clothes kept getting smaller and smaller as i had to pull out stitches. finally i gave up.........not even barbie could fit into them. hopefully that won t happen again!
speaking of my ggd. i went to see her today. she is starting to laugh out loud now. she is just all smiles. i can t believe how blessed i am.
next week i am taking thursday and friday night off to take care of our 14 year old grand daughter and our 18 month grand daughter. my daughter and son-in-law are going on vacation so they will be staying with us. they are here every weekend so they know the routine.i m looking forward to it. we should be able to finish my grand daughters quilt.
not much else going on. i am on my way to bed because i have to work tonight. god bless you all.
Morning Ann and all,
Ann, you are sure up bright and early for a Californian...lol.
Glad that things are getting done there. How much longer do you think you will be there sorting and selling? A couple of weeks?
Back is just twinges today. So maybe start exercising again tomorrow. We shall see. At least by Monday if not sooner.
Pick up Mom for store, shopping and visiting.
I need to pick up a few things for me also.
Thats about it for me today.
Just continue to rest my back and not put it out again.
A couple of weeks ago, it felt like it was going out when I was vacuuming again...hmmm..I'm beginning to see a pattern here.
I am not going to be able to do that baby sweater. The pattern has an I-cord all around it, and I don't know how to do that. She sent me video to see if I could do it. Couldn't grasp what the video was saying, so I had to let it go.
So now, I still need a baby sweater, so I had better get busy. I will probably make a few of them, and DD can choose the one she wants. These will be knit and crochet both..I need to check and see when she needs it. Probably next week...lol..hope not.
Anyway, have a great day girls.
Nothing new on my blog. I am working on the second hat for the week and that is it...not much done in the craft dept.
Go to www.rubylane.com and in the search box put in 19th Century Diebold Safe and you will see the monster I am talking about.

I am up early as I could not go back to sleep. I guess I'm hoping I didn't blow a deal yesterday on selling a 160 book collection of New England Genealogy books. A local man came to help another take away a free freezer. He knew mother had a set of books and asked to see them. He made me a very good offer but I felt I best check with the fellow from the Shriner's that was going to try and find a way to sell them. The money will go to the Shriner Hospital either way. I will call the the fellow to day and hope the offer is still good on from the man that was here last night. There are still many to get rid of. So much info in now on the computer that the written form isn't needed for research.
Sarah, you asked about coffee. DH has started drinking it again. I never drank coffee but my favorite flavor of ice cream is coffee. My mother always ordered her coffee from Louisiana that was strong with chicory in it. Well there was about 12 cans here and I couldn't find anyone that liked strong coffee. Finally one of the men that was helping his friend said he'd like to try it. I sold him 1 can. He liked it so we gave him the 11 cans. It is expensive especially when you order it.
It is still cold here. We have two blankets on the bed and the last two nights I've put an electric heater on in the motor home to get the chill off. The little heater works better than the motor home furnace. The furnace comes on hot and then shuts off and it is cold and then hot again and on and on and on. It is rainy too. It really poured late yesterday afternoon. So heavy the phone service went out but since I'm on the computer you know it is back on this morning.
When we took some books to Hazel at the thrift store yesterday, it was the first time I realized people don't have to pay for what they pick up. They just have to make a donation. Hazel has her monthly expenses posted and just hopes to clear enough to cover the expense. How neat is that. I took some cook books down yesterday and she picked one up to read. She said she had been the cook for the Eastern Star Home here for 21 years. Of course that building is now a personal residence. Just like all other towns it has more pizza places and antique stores than anything else.
DS in N.C. found a picture on line of a safe like the one in the basement here. The one on line was for sale at $13,500. It weighs over 3,000 lbs. This one is going with the house when it is sold.
I think I will have some cocoa to warm up.
