I once took a class in stress management. I learned that there were two kinds of stress, distress, the bad kind of stress, and eustress, the fun stress. I ran into the second name and very nearly had hysterics right in class. I don't know if I have spelled it correctly, but it hit my funny button, because I associate the latter name with a woman's reproduction cycles. I hope that reaction isn't common.

good evening everyone,we just got home from our youngest daughters house. we went over for a cookout. they did steak and corn-on-the-cob on the grill.it was delicious!!!!!!!

patty, it got hot here today also. it got up to 90. it is hot. the ac was just humming all day and it still is.

jan, great job on your weight loss.it is always good to see the weight go down. i have to weigh in tomorrow and i know i have lost by the way my clothes fit. we shall see!

louise, i am still praying for you and your daughter. i know it is hard when you don t feeel good. i hope everything works out. but, god is good all the time and all the time god is good.

Louise, I wonder if your iron is low?

The stress program was about how we all have stress - there's good kinds (just married, new job, new baby, etc.) and the bad kind (illness, divorce, etc.) but both effect the body. They suggested keeping a stress journal to help you focus and see what's going on and using tools like deep breathing, meditation (which doesn't go with my beliefs) or prayer (which does go with my beliefs), getting exercise. Acknowledging sometimes we might eat to relieve the stress but to aim for handling it by the above mentioned tools. Our speaker is probably the poster lady for talking about this. She has a young adult autistic son who is a full-time job. Also keeping a gratitude journal to help level things out. Trying to keep a positive attitude.

Louise, I'm glad to hear your daughter is feeling better and it will be interesting to see how things work out for self-employment.

Hi Patty and Jan and all who will follow. I am not sure but I don't think I have posted in a few days.
I honestly cannot remember. Patty, I am still praying for your husband that his tumor does not grow. Jan, how was the program on stress? Stress does a lot on one's health. Sabrina went to townhall today to find out what she needs to start teaching singing lessons in our home. I think she is also going to go to preschools and offer after school classes. I am not sure. She seems to be feeling better. She wants to get back to work and she is going to give starting her own business a try.
I am still trying to get on disability. I hope they don't lose my papers this time. Yesterday Sabrina and I went to the Christian Cancer Support Group. There were about twenty people there. It has helped a lot knowing that others are going through or went through what I did. It has helped Sabrina as she and my DH were my caregivers when I had the Cancer. There were other care givers there. Some of us are Cancer Free now but it still helps to go and talk with people. Today I had to go for lab work. After I had blood taken out of me lately I don't feel well for the rest of the day. Today was no exception. So I slept for a while. I am up now. I am going to see the finale of American Idol tonight. Jan, I did not see the Biggest Loser Finale as I was switching back and forth from American Idol and Dancing With The Stars. Dancing With The Stars had their finale last night. I am not actually a big fan of programs wanting people to lose weight fast. However, I have watched the Biggest Loser at times and also have have
the Celebrity Loser. I am not sure what it is exactly called. Well, everyone, please have a Wonderful Rest Of Wednesday!

Hi Patty and anyone else who joins us here on the Healthy Exchanges porch,

I left early for my TOPS meeting. Great meeting and I lost 1-1/4 lb. Yay. Our Area Captain came to our meeting and gave the program on stress. Several of us took her to lunch afterwards. I had a Greek burger which was delicious.

I'll do my walking on the treadmill later on today. Patty, I agree - sometimes you just have to choose to get up and do the exercise.

DH wants to go to Home Depot. He has been painting those cabinets for our laundry room. I think some are almost ready to install on the wall. I have my set above the washer/dryer and I just love them. It's nice having the laundry detergent and supplies put away in a cupboard.

Did anyone watch the finale of Biggest Loser last night? I have to say I was disappointed in the winner because I didn't think his attitude was as positive as the other two finalists. Still I'm glad for everyone who lost weight and hope they use the skills they learned to keep it off.

I think I'll have a big spinach salad with some grilled chicken tonight. It's time for a JoAnna pie and I have room in the fridge for it. I'm thinking Almond Rejoice Pie. Tastes like an Almond Joy bar without the bad consequences.

Well, it's 90 where Patty is and 52 here. I'm wearing my fleece jacket. Turn up the fan,, Patty!

Hi Girls,
We just got back from town. Hubby had that appt. with the endocronologist this morning. She was very pleased with how much better he is doing. Now he needs to take thyroid and testosterone, as they are not working well either. Pretty soon, he will just be one big medicine cabinet...lol

It got up to 92 today. whew. I am warm...Jan, my fan is on, which way do you want me to set it to get the warmer air to you? Maybe just have it set at circular, so you all can get some more heat...lol

My, hubby has lots of appts. He will at some point need to see a neurologist for the tumor, to make sure it isn't growing into his brain. Now wouldn't that be terrible? We are praising and praying that it won't turn to that.

How is everyone on this hot hot day.

Oh, I did not want to exercise today. I was, and am, very tired out, and almost didn't do it, but then I thought, I am acting like a baby. Get off my franny and get that done, so I did, but until I was half way through with her 1 mile for abs, was I pleased that I was doing it...seems I am a tad lazy and spoiled and don't like to do things that make me tired out...lol
