Right now I am not eating meat. Trying to see if it helps take away some of the fibro pain.

There are oats that are not milled at the same place as wheat. Or you could get whole oats and grind them yourself. Though that might be oat flour instead of oats. But I do know that there are some.
Maybe check out some gluten free blogs, and ask them what they recommend.

Hi Paulissa, Patty, Sarah and all who will follow! Paulissa, I really like your goals. You are one busy lady. Patty, your cookies sound good. However, because sometimes oats gets mixed up with gluten I cannot have them. I wonder what I good substitute for the oats? Sarah, I am glad you are getting good weather in Florida. We are not here in Arizona. Northern Arizona is getting snow and here in the Valley it is gloomy and trying to rain. We are suppose to be getting rain all week. Thursday is suppose to be worse. Now I know why Sabrina and mine asthma has been acting up! Actually, my arthiritis of the spine has been really bothering me.
I have been really fortunate because most of the time I forget I have it. However, this is NOT good weather for it. My whole back and neck is sore and in pain. This weather really isn't helping Sabrina recover fast either. On the good side, I have been catching up with my reading, writing and daily housework. I don't eat red meat very often but today
I felt like having some steak. We bought a London Broil at Whole Foods so it is natural. However, I probably will not be eating red meat for a while after the steak is gone. I wanted to go vegetarian but even though I like eating a lot of veggies and fruit and gluten-free grains, I cannot seem to give up the poultry. I cannot eat fish and like I said I don't eat red meat very often. Patty, are you not eating meat at all now? I think I posted that I did
90 minutes of dancing yesterday for exercise. I am going to try doing the same a little later today. Our DVD player is not working very well so I won't be able to do a DVD today. Well, got to get back to some more housework. EVERYONE, PLEASE HAVE A VERY BLESSED AND HAPPY MONDAY!

in my kitchen, we went to McDonalds for lunch.
I had fries and a bun with mayo, lettuce and tomato. no meat or dairy.

for supper, the same as lunch yesterday, pasta salad with cooked veggies, lots of veggies
baked potato
some cookies

oh these are so good. here is the recipe

Patty's cookies
3 mashed bananas
1 cup oats
1 cup coconut
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup raisins(I used dried cherries, as that is what I had)
1/2 cup dried pineapple, chopped
1/2 cup dried mango, chopped
1/2 cup dried papaya, chopped.
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix the bananas, salt and vanilla.
Add oats and coconut.
Add rest of ingredients

bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. So yummy, so vegan so good.
no sugar, no dairy, no eggs

Hi Patty and Paulissa and all who follow!

Well Florida is having normal temps again. I think today the high is around 70 with lows in the mid to upper 50's. Much better than 20's and 30's!

Patty I'm having the same sleeping trouble as you. This morning around 5 am I finally crawled in bed. I have been watching the series All Creatures Great and Small. It makes me feel so British I have been drinking hot tea!

I have an afghan I need to try and finish while the weather is cooler. I'm not crazy about knitting or crocheting while the humidity is high.

So what is going on in your kitchens today? I'm debating between chili or cooking a pot of bean soup.

Hope it is a great day for everyone!

Wow Paulissa,
That program sounds wonderful. When I first read emancipated, I thought you meant, can't remember the word, but really really skinny people. What is that word...lol
Anyway, the program sounds great, and needful. It is a goodly thing.

It is sunny here and 27. A little bit cooler than last week which was in the 30's all week. That was nice. Our January thaw we call it.

I was awake from 2 to 5 this morning. bah. Finally got back to sleep and now just got up.
Taking Mom to the store after lunch. Senior center is closed today.
Cleaning is the bedrooms and upstairs bathroom today.
So will work on that.
Still tired out from last week, so won't do much else today. Just knit and read.
Sounds like a good day is starting out huh. An easy day for me.

Good morning friends,

It's a freezing fog morning here in Nebraska today. What's the weather like where you are? I've done a 1 mile walk this morning and am sitting here with breakfast - cereal and some peaches while I plan what to have the rest of the day.

I have been swamped so please forgive me for not checking in more often.

There are tons of things going on, so where to start:

Well, I've been working on getting healthier this year which means more movement and better meals. I'm educating myself and walking with a friend every day at work. This week I'll be kicking it up a notch and adding a morning "get sweating" workout.

Classes are going OK: I have a term paper in progress on the power of positive thinking versus sarcasm as ego boosters. It has been interesting reading.

I am changing my major to Human Service so I begin Intro to Human Svc next quarter. I value the critical reasoning and organizational skills that Legal Assisting has taught me but it won't get me where I want to be and that is close to those who need a hand up and someone to believe in them to turn their lives around. I am set to launch an ageout aftercare outreach program for emancipated foster care youth (my idea, my time, my efforts on the line - lots of phone calls, community meetings and research later) there is a program and coalition of churches and persons committed to this.

Here is the mission statement:

MISSION STATEMENT: Persons Becoming Inc., provides transitional support for foster children who have aged out of the system. Persons Becoming offers cooking classes, budgeting classes, basic needs for a first apartment or dorm room ie., towels, food storage containers, basic dishes, silverware, cleaning supplies, etc.

"And he will answer, 'I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.' Matthew 25:45

I have a new photography theme for this year: I'll be doing churches and rescued handiwork this year.

So lots of things in the frying pan but I'm glad to be able to learn, grow and become.
