It's the middle of the night but I do wake up when I'm stressed. Visiting here is a good thing to do.
I've been wondering about Vicki's rhubarb cake, too. I bought a rhubarb plant this year. It's still in it's big pot while I decide where a good permanent home would be. I could kick myself - when we had to evict some renters (from the house we now live in) they made such a horrible mess and about the only good thing they did was plant rhubarb and there was a huge plant out back and I dug it up and threw it away!! Mom used to make the best rhubarb pie and also rhubarb sauce. I could do the sauce easily with Splenda.
Ann, it's hard to imagine turnip cake! Yes, that's a long vacation your son and his family is taking. Sometimes you need a vacation after the vacation, lol.
Sarah, I loved the Sarah Plain & Tall series. I only caught part of the last one yesterday. We had an air conditioner (window kind) when we lived in Portland. We put it in the bedroom window upstairs of a townhouse apartment and I remember coming home from work the first hot day wondering if it worked and the whole apartment was wonderfully cool. When we moved here we didn't need it so gave it away.
It is supposed to be 80 here tomorrow, or I should say today. I think there will be fog in the morning so I can work outside a bit.

Cloudy weather is back! Maybe it will keep the temperatures down. The electric bills could use a break.
No cooking today, just can't get into the cooking mood for some reason. I watched the Sarah, Plain and Tall series on Hallmark today. I always enjoy those shows.
Heather must be with her family by now, hope it's a great vacation for her.
Ann your DD and DS are so lucky to see Sox games at Fenway. Nothing better than an outside baseball game!
Have a good evening all!

Another warm day here and the computer room is the coolest in the house, so here I sit.
Vicki, good to hear from you. You are a busy lady. I agree that to be unlicensed sounds pretty strange. Rhubarb cakes sounds different. I bet it is delicious. We don't see much rhubarb here in the S.W. I remember my grandfather had some in back of his house in Ma. My mouth is watering now just thinking that I use to eat a stalk. When I took the lowfat cooking class we made a cake with mashed turnip in it. The white ones. I do not care for turnip but of course you could not taste it in the cake. On the W W board someone wanted recipes with turnip and I guess I threw the cake recipe away. I had ten years of recipes from that class and went through them and only saved what I knew I would use.
Jan, you have a son coming to visit and our DS and DD here along with GS are getting ready for their great vacation. They leave on Thur. for Boston to go to a Red Sox Game. They have at least 5 cities to visit and will take in 7 or 8 ball games in 9 days. I hope DD and DS are still talking by the time they get home.

It started out cloudy here but will be 70 today.
We're headed off to church shortly and afterwards I'll pick up the CSA box at Sunday Market. Not sure what else will happen.
Our youngest son called this morning and he'll be coming down to spend a long weekend when we can arrange to have our mechanic look at his pickup. That will be something to look forward to. He is always helpful in the garden so I can think up new projects. Actually, I want to extend the garden area for next year.
I'm with Ann - easy-going warm weather cooking today. I cooked green beans this morning and yesterday I made the Meatloaf Muffins so dinner today should be pretty easy.
What's going on in your neck of the woods?
