I make coffee cakes and muffins almost every Saturday so I can say I've tried a few, or more. :-) I'm away from my notes, but I will post my faves soon. meal planning is getting easier for me. I usually look in the freezer to see what needs to be cooked soon, I take into account what we had recently and switch it up a bit, then when I have my meat decided I then take into account if we've had something ethic and switch that around. say if I need to cook chicken and we just had Mexican, I'll look through to find something Italian maybe. I try to cook some kind of fish on Friday's because we need to eat more fish. last Friday we had salmond patties from Jo's Spice cookbooklet. Yesterday, I saw I needed to use the cabbage in the refridgerator and I made Busy Day Cabbage "Rolls" (Jan '97) and made Round-Up Time Spice Cake from Baking with Splenda, which is a tomato soup cake and both were very good. the spice cake reminded me of something for autumn time. I try to make a more comfort type dinner on Sundays like a chicken and dumplings, etc. If I am making a Mexican meal, I'll try to make a mexican dessert -something chocolate will work too. Italian meals, Italian type dessert and so on. tonight I'm making Italian pepper steak from Jan '97 and having "Mounds Bar" pie from Jan '97 also.
I also should mention that with so many JoAnna recipes I almost always am cooking something I haven't made of hers before. I do repeat some faves when I just don't know what to cook or pressed for time. the One Pot Favorites has been used a lot lately as its just easier for me to make casseroles this time of year. do try the microwave lasagna recipe, its a 5 star and you don't cook the noodles first. start to finish in the microwave! I upgraded my microwave and mine got done sooner than usual, about 8 mins.
