Wow, what a mess. Should be able to be fine though right? Just be careful what he eats. Glad he is doing better.
My son has been sick for the past two weeks or so. Finally he was in enough pain he asked me to take him to Urgent Care on Thursday. They did a catscan and said he has diverticulosis - unusual in a young man - and an absess that was the size of a grapefruit by the time they started to drain it. His white cell count was 22 instead of the normal 8 or 10 from the infection from the absess. He is on antibiotics and has a drain in for about a week (looks awful!). He's committed to eating healthy so he doesn't have to go through this again so it's a good boost to get all unhealthy things out of the house. His cat is so devoted to him. I'm a paltry second best for her - she was so happy when she heard his voice as he came in the door.
Wow, watermelon smoothie! We got a good deal on canteloupe at Safeway today.

Jan, I missed what was wrong with your son. Hope he will be well soon. Thank you so much for the well wishes on my birthday.
This noon we had watermelon smoothies.
For 2 smoothies,
I used 1/4 watermelon, this is the round kind
1/2 cup plain yogurt
some frozen strawberries
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tb. sugar
all in the blender, yummy, tangy from the yogurt, great watermelon taste. this watermelon did not have a lot of taste, and it almost had more flavor in the smoothie. I will do the rest of it that way.

I got so interested in the books you mentioned I forgot to wish you a happy birthday.
Enjoy your years. Its much more fun. Love, Judy
Happy Birthday Patty! It sounds like you had a good day. I turned 62 last October and it was painless - especially getting the social security. Mine didn't start until late December.
Vicki, I hope you like your new fridge. My sister once had one with the freezer on the bottom. I think there's a logical reason for them being made that way - we're just used to frozen things being on the top. It's always good when they haul away the old ones.
I talked to my son a couple of times today and he was feeling better and was able to eat a meal of solid food. They think he will be able to come home tomorrow. I'm afraid we won't know until they want us to come pick him up. That's 4 hours round trip. He said he is still feeling weak but his white cell count went from 22 to 14 today. He told me normal is between 8 and 10 I think. He'll have a drain in for a week and it sounds like he won't be going back to work right away. I don't know if he can qualify for unemployment when he is medically unable to work.
I did some gardening today. Picked spinach from my garden for a big salad. DH likes his with a hardboiled egg sliced and crumbled bacon. I like mine with lots of chopped cucumber, tomato & feta cheese.
Louise, I'm sure you need to rest and continue healing. I'm adding my prayers for direction for you if the preschool one ends.

Patty, Happy Birthday! I hope you had a GREAT ONE!
I think everything has finally caught up with me.
Finishing Radiation, going back to work this week and
trying to get housework done (I am Very Fortunate my
husband helps tremendously), I actually slept most of
the day today. I honestly have a lot to do but I just did not feel like it. I have a feeling tomorrow
after Church will be extremely busy for me. After I get through posting I am going to get lesson plans done for the week and projects ready. If I have enough time I am going to get my lesson plans for the month done. Maybe I might even work on July Lesson Plans. I still do not know if I have a job in
August as so many parents have lost their jobs and are staying home with their children. I cannot say that I blame them. It might be cheaper for one of them not to work and stay home with their little ones. I am praying to GOD that if I do not still have a job at the preschool in August that HE shows me what HE wants me to do. Maybe it might be time for me to stay home, I am not sure yet. Well, everyone, please have a GREAT REST OF SATURDAY! Again, Patty, Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Patty! Wish I was old enough to collect SS!!! All my life they have been saying there wouldn't be any money left in the program by the time I could collect. I'll be 58 the end of the year. Now with so many people out of work and not as many paying in, they just MIGHT run out of money. Hope not.
Louise, glad to hear you are done with your treatments. I haven't seen your post about it but will go back and find it.
Hubby and I went out last night and bought a new refrigerator. Yesterday everything was frozen in it. That has happened off and on during the 13 years we have had it. Guess it was time. Of course today it has been working fine. So I think we will have them take this old one down the basement for us and take the one down there away that hasn't worked for 2 years now. Man those things are expensive, too!! We got one with the freezer on the bottom. Hubby wanted that. I hope I like it. Will probably just take some time to get use to that.
Well, better get some dinner going. Hope everyone is doing well!

That open road cookbook fascinates me. I hadn't heard of it. Can you send me the ISBN so that I can look for it?
Louise, such good news on being done with radiation. That must have taken so much out of you. Good for being back to work.
Today is my birthday. I am 62. ugh. The only good thing about that is that I am now eligible for social security. yay.
Hubby and I went to town. We went to yard sales, to Goodwill, where I found 1 dress for DGD, and 3 dresses for me. I am not sure if the dresses for me will fit, as they are a smaller size. But I wanted to try on some different dresses. We shall see.
It is sunny out now, but while we were in town, we had thunder and lightening storm. It went over fast though. Its supposed to freeze tonight, so my brother, the fruit farmer, will need to be watchful, and maybe turn on the windmills. They make the cold air close to the ground move up and away from the trees. Pretty cool huh.
I closed down my blog. I have 90 days to re-activate it if I want to. It was getting to be a chore. To remember to post, then to remember to take pics. I do not like chores...lol. So decided to shut it down for a bit, and see if I like not having to do it. Once I made the decision, there was no stopping me. I shut it down immediately...silly huh. So for now, it is not there.
Heather, I agree with Louise. You do so much for us on this blog.
Lets see, we have another cookbook in June don't we. I will need to check that out. I know that I have the book, and I like it cause there are not too many ingredients in those recipes. Its called the Open Road Cookbook, I think if I remember correctly.
Have a great day.
