I also find the cherries packed in water in with the fruit. Pie filling here is with the cake mixes. No two stores are alike. Darn if I didn't pick up two cans of cherries in heavy syrup by mistake during the holidays. I guess I can use them in a recipe that doesn't need juice by rinsing them real good.

Linda, you could experiment and even make your own 1000 Island dressing with some added ketsup and relish to mayonnaise.

This has been a puttering day for me. Got the last form needed for the tax returns so I'm all set for our app't in two weeks. Picked up some more green lentils at the health food store that sells stuff in bins. In our newpaper a few weeks ago there was a local restaurant recipe for Tomato Lentil Soup and it was very good. This past week they posted a redo
by adjusting the ingredients a little and adding more lentils. I shall try the redo and see if it is as good as the first posting. One of those columns where someone requests a restaurant recipe from a dish they really like. This was one that happened to be low cal. Most of them aren't.

I really like Creamy Baked Tacos from Penny Penching.

That's the right attitude, you don't want to get perfectionistic about your exercise as that will backfire. As JoAnna used to say "moderate" exercise. :)

Jan I want to say they were by the canned fruits, and not pie filling as well. Some where up on the tip top shelf.

And yes I always add garlic, often onions, and other seasonings depending on the kind of dish it is.

Good idea about browning the potatoes first, sounds like a REAL good idea to me!

I know I didn't like one of Tommy's hamburger milk gravy potato dishes for just that reason, I think it would of made a world of difference to of browned the potatoes first! The texture was too mushy, and the flavor too blah, because they weren't browned first. At least that was my conclusion. The color was rather blah too because of that-muted ugly gray.

We took a brisk 90 minute walk today and both (DH & I) feel good about it. He has an annual doctor's appointment coming up and I notice he's avoiding the scale. Nothing to motivate you like a doctor's appointment! We had the leftover Cherry Baked Chicken tonight and the guys liked it. It wasn't quite as pretty leftover but still tasty.

Heather, I know I've seen the water packed cherries somewhere, too. I don't think they were with the pie filling. Next time I'll ask.

Iris, Did you find the taco recipe or did you make one up?

Linda, Good job on the exercise! JoAnna Lund always said it was fine if you wanted to "tweak" her recipes to your liking. Heather is really good at it.

Speaking of tweaking recipes - I also found the Little League Meat & Potatoes bland and I did add garlic. I came to the conclusion if you could "dry fry" the shredded potatoes so they were crispy that would help. Also I don't like those cheese slices and I'd rather use shredded cheese. Maybe this would appeal to kids, though.

We're going to see the movie Bolt tonight. Can't even remember when we last went to a movie.

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well. A couple nights ago I made BBQ beef strips from Healthy Eating with a Man in Mind and they were pretty good. I had leftovers for lunch yesterday so that was nice. Last night I made Reuben Roll ups from the same book. I did not have the 1000 island dressing and they would have been really good if I had. Not really enough for a dinner though, more like an appetizer. I've made it to the gym so far 3 times this week and I should make it tommorrow too. The only time I don't make it is when I have to work late and tommorrow I don't. I've been doing 15 minutes on a cardio machine and then 15 minutes of strength training. I split it up by doing legs and biceps one day, chest and triceps the next and shoulders and back the third day. Then I start the rotation again. I keep thinking I should be doing each part 3x a week but I know if I get into that kind of thinking I will quit. The way I'm doing it now keeps it short and simple. It's gotta be better than nothing. Hope you all have a great evening.

Hooray! It just started raining. We really need it. I have never seen water water packed cherries. I did find cook and serve sf pudding at Walmart. Once I bought pickles sweetened with splenda and they were just way too sweet.

I am making tacos for dinner so have to look up and see If I can find a HE recipe for filling.

This months newsletter had a lot of good recipes, I thought.

Paulissa hope you are feeling well soon. Heather it was good to see your post. I hope you are doing okay.

The Cherries packed in water are elusive, they are hard to find but are out there. For me they hmmm, I don't really like them. I wish I could remember where in the store I located them. I remember it was hard for me to find though though too.

Good morning,

It's overcast here this morning. I've had my bowl of oatmeal and I'm about to go out for a walk. Then I'll be getting things ready for our youngest son to come down tomorrow for the weekend.

I was able to get cherry pie filling with Splenda at the store yesterday. Didn't see any cans of cherries packed in water. I did find the Barilla lasagna that you don't have to pre-cook for recipes that Itsrandella told us about.

How is everyone else today?
