Euchre is a card game. Usually 4 people per table and is fast moving. I remember my grandparents playing Euchre when I was growing up.

Believe me it's not that exciting.

No, I haven't blown off the face of the earth, but it is still windy today. In SE MI we have had a problem with an insect called Emerald Ash Bore and it has killed a number of trees. So when we get the heavy winds, down come the trees and any wires near them. I haven't lost power, but a number of traffic lights in the area are out and traffic is . . . well let's just say is slooow . . . one car at a time. Still very windy here today(gusts up to 40 MPH) and just heard 2 to 4 inches of snow tomorrow evening. Enough, we had our White Christmas.

When will my tree come down? I've got a stained glass tree so, it's still up. Probably in a few weeks.

I've got a questiion - How will you be ringing in the new year? I've been invited to a Euchre party at a friends house.

If, I don't get back online -- I hope everyone has a happy and healthy new year.

Back from my grocery shopping and all is put away. I did buy a new electric blanket and DH comes home and checked the plugs on the one on the bed and says when the bed the changed yesterday my side came out a little and now seems to be working. Darn.

Vicki, I never heard of fleece sheets either. They would be too warm for me.

Jan, I'm not very fond of flannel sheets either. I do have a set in the motor home and find if I just put the top one on when we dry camp in the winter that works pretty good. Of Course, DH will go to bed with his thermals and flannel pj's on. I bought a down comforter for the first 5th wheel trailer we had that had twin beds. I bought a queen size down comforter, cut it in half and made a cover for it from a set of sheets. I needed the queen length for my 6' 5" DH. I never like the down comforter as it was too warm. I know there are thinner ones made but this one was also heavy. I finally gave it to DS for his motor home when he had a bunch of kids going with them to the dessert. I asked him last week if he didn't have it in the motor home as it had gotten very cold when they went camping and the batteries were too low for the furnace to come on. DD is telling me all this. He doesn't even know where the comforter is. MEN. I also noticed the round hooked rug his grandmother made and gave to him is rolled up in the garage on his boat. AND she continually asks me which room he put it in and I hope he's not using it to wipe muddy shoes with. emoticon

I wonder when DH is going to tell me there is no lodge meeting tonight. In other words I'll have to cook supper. I saw his post it note on his bathroom mirror.

I have been out in the yard for the last two hours, digging and planting violets and asylum, My face is purple and if this doesn't convince me to get control of my eating again I guess nothing will.

Belated Happy Birthday Vicki. It sounds as though it was a nice one.

Ann I probably shouldn't have weighed. I actually do better if I just don't dwell on points, exchanges and weighing all the time. It's a fact of life that my family is an eating out family and the places they all want to go to aren't the best but at Hometown Buffet there are at least things to choose from. I do pretty good there if I put my mind to it.

I haven't heard of fleece sheets. I don't like flannel ones. I like the feel of cold sheets no matter what the weather is like.
Have a great afternoon or evening depending on where all of you are located.

Happy birthday, Vicki! emoticon Know exactly what you mean about time to yourself. With the weather we've had it's even more so. DH goes to the library and then races right back home. I would like to start putting Christmas things away but it's a big fuss working around DH and the tv. I have a fleece throw to make that I can't get to. I haven't heard of fleece sheets either but maybe in colder regions they would be welcome. I love the flannel sheets and we usually have them on from October until March or April. I just got through getting the extra room ready for DS#2. I have a feeling it will be back to storage mode very fast.

Ann: We use a down comforter. They are really light and work whethe the power is on or not. I'm glad the Leslie Sansone videos tell us we don't have to use the weighted balls or whatever sometimes.

I made the HE fruitcake and I think we'll have it for New Years Eve. It's a treat DH & I like.

Ann, we got FLEECE sheets from a day care family for Christmas. They look like a blanket in the package! They are thick! She said to me, "You can get up to use the bathroom during the night and when you come back to bed they are still warm". I'm thinking they will be too warm though. Hubby is like a furnace, he gives off so much heat. We usually turn the heat off at night unless it is going to be really cold. Then we set it to 60. We like it cooler to sleep. Never saw fleece sheets though. I'm debating what to do with them. I know they were not cheap by any means.

Hubby just went to take a nap for an hour. Sure would like to do that myself! Kids are about to lay down so maybe I will get something done during the hour. Still working on the extra bedroom our daughter and her hubby will be using next week when they are here. Have to get those sheets changed.....etc. etc.

Thank you for the birthday greetings! I had a nice day.

Vicki

Happy Belated Birthday Vicki. emoticon This one is non fattening. I know just what you mean about having a day to yourself without DH under foot all day. Mine does go for long walks so that helps. Monday's he takes his and DS lunch to DS shop and spend the day. I generally take advantage of that and do my grocery shopping all by myself. Cheaper that way.

Just got a call from my hair dresser to move my Friday hair app't earlier. Saturday will be a big football day here. Our Chargers had done so poorly all season and along came December and they came to life. I love to watch movies while DH and DD watch the game. Yesterday I watched two on the Lifetime channel.

Our electric blanket did not work last night. It is pretty old and I didn't expect it to make it through last winter but now I will have to replace it. I came on the computer to check out on line prices. So many places to choose from.

Iris, I think we all might have added a pound or two this past week. I did so well and then for two days just blew it. Now it will take me a month to get back to where the scale was slowly moving downward. And oh so slowly. I didn't even weigh myself today. I don't need to be depressed. I still have been walking two miles a day with Leslie, one mile at a time. I've had to go easy with the weighted balls as my left shoulder is sore off and on.

I best get my grocery list organized and head out.

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I have been here. Yesterday was my birthday. I had a nice day. Our daughter and her family came over with Papa Murphy pizzas and an Oreo cake. Enjoyed it and getting ready to dig in here again the first of the year with the weight loss. Our other daughter and family will be here then (the 2nd till the 7th) and staying with us so that will be hard but I am going to give it a go. Otherwise I will be back with much determination after the 7th.

I find it so hard to get anything done with DH underfoot! I've never been able to do much when others are around. Have been learning to get around that the past year though as it has been over a year now (Nov. 26th) that hubby fell and he is STILL out of work and here EVERY day! Sure would like to be able to send him off for a day so I can get something done but just not possible with him in the wheelchair. Sigh... The physical therapist should be here soon to work with him today.

We had a nice Christmas. Hope everyone here did, too! Haven't read any of the past threads for awhile. We enjoyed a few quiet days afterwards. Have a Christmas get together again on the 1st and then another family Christmas on the 3rd so it will be awhile before the tree and decorations are taken down. I just finally got them up the week before Christmas. I usually have them up Thanksgiving week so it hardly seems like they have been up and I sure am not in the mood or ready to take them down yet. I hardly feel like I have been able to even enjoy them.

Just started getting SparkMail again out of the blue. Went a long time without getting any. Makes coming in and replying to posts so much easier to just click on the email.

Haven't made nearly what I wanted to out of Joyful Table this month. I have to go and read the reviews of what every one else made this month. What book are we using next month? I hope to do better with that one.

Congrats to everyone who is getting back on track come the 1st and an extra congrats to all who are doing it NOW and not waiting till the first. We can do a lot of damage in a short time if we are not careful. Way to go!

A good Monday to all!
Vicki

Our tree is coming down New Year's Day; I'll do that while the football games are on; at least the ones I'm not interested in.

Good Morning Jan and all who will follow! We have a small artifical Christmas Tree. We usually leave it
up until after New Year's Day. Some years ago we used to leave our Christmas tree up until January 6th. I used to buy one present each for my DH and DD
from the Christian bookstore and give it to them on
January 6h. I might even do that this year but not sure. Today I have to go grocery shopping at Trader
Joe's and also at Sprouts. Then later I want to browse around Barnes&Noble. I love bookstores. I can and have spent hours in them! Then later I have to go to Teaching Stuff and buy a bulletin for this month for my class. I had planned doing all this stuff last week but never got around to it. I have this week left of not working before I go back to work next week. I am praying I get everything done I had planned to do. Well, everyone, please have a GREAT MONDAY! GOD BLESS!

Good morning,

When do you take your Christmas tree down?

After my youngest son left yesterday I was looking around the living room thinking "time to put stuff away". Time to clean the fridge and make room for healthier food. Here's a funny thing: when all that snow thawed there is still kale growing in the garden. The pineapple sage died back, though. I love pineapple sage- it blooms in the late fall - pretty little red flowers, and when you brush the leaves they smell wonderfully of pineapple. Looks like the rosemary survived, too.

I was just reading on my start up page that Michigan is having severe weather and many lost power. I hope our Michigan friends are safe and warm.

What's going on with you as we wind up 2008?

Jan
