Love my coffee but couldn't tell you about a Latte if my life depended on it LOL! Have just never ordered them. Have only been to a Starbucks once when we were with other people and they wanted to go there. Just plain coffee for me and I think I had a bagel or something else there. It's been awhile. And if I remember I didn't care much for the coffee. Never cared for Krispy Kreams either. Had one in Vegas as we watched them being made and one other time at my brothers house. I do like Panera's bakery though!
Iris, Happy Birthday to Caillou. Two years old, what fun!
Ann, glad you were able to get the oyster stew for your mom and with cheaper shipping, too! She will love you for doing that for her!! I've seen those dancing pixies. They are so cute. A neighbor has them on her web page of her, her husband and their 3 girls.
I am slowly getting some Christmas things out. Seems to take longer every year. The tree has been sitting in the middle of the living room naked for 3 days now. I'm surprised (but glad) that the day care kids have left it alone.
On to more catching up....
"There is no thrill in easy sailing when the skies are clear and blue, there's no joy in merely doing things which anyone can do. But there is some satisfaction that is mighty sweet to take, when you reach a destination that you never thought you'd make" Unknown
I don't think I have heard of blendables but I will look for them next time I go to quilting store. I have a lot of the other kind of sulky that I used on machine embroidery which I haven't done in so long. I love the look of hand embroidering. Growing up I had an aunt that did the most beautiful embroidery work. She was bedridden for years and did crocheting, quilting, knitting stuffed animals. That was the way she kept occupied during the long days in bed. She was very religious and didn't believe in tv so all her time was spent with her needlework. She ended up living to the ripe old age of 94. Some of my family thought she wasn't as sick as she said and liked being catered to by her daughter who never married and her whole life was dedicated to taking care of and living with her mother. Well I am off to watch the Hallmark special.
I only do hand embroidery. I use the number 12 Blendables. It is not sold at chain stores though. Only at quilt shops and sew and vac stores. I know there is other sulky products sold in mass chain stores, but not the blendables. It can be done with one strand as 1 strand is supposed to be equal to 2 strands DMC, however, I prefer to double. I think the end product comes out nicer. As I really don't feel 1 strand equals 2 strands DMC, more like 1 1/2 strands DMC (some where between 1 and 2 strands DMC). I prefer 2 strands DMC width wise. So when I double the Sulky it's more like 3 strands DMC. But, I still think the end product is nicer that way. But, I had done it in 1 strand and that was fine as well.
Well I have to admit the Krispy Kreme doughnuts taste good but after having them twice it was enough. I thought they were a little doughy and laid in your stomach that way.
I have never seen those cards. My daughter bought a sesame street music card for Caillou once.
It is cold and cloudy here also but I love it. After I come home from dinner tonight if I am not too tired there is 2 lbs of ground beef waiting for me so I will get the book out to see what I can make.
I feel bad because I have only made one thing so far. I have spent a lot of time this last week at dgd's and will be again this Monday and Tuesday. tomorrow for Caillou's Birthday, and Tuesday to go to courthouse with her to get some kind of legal papers regarding her dh's name change for his job.
Heather you mentioned once that you use sulky thread for embroidering. Hand or machine embroidering and if by hand how many strands do you use. I think that sulky comes in so many beautiful colors.
A friend of mine's husband did her and him, doing Olympic gymnastics. He used pics that were of them in the garden when they had put that spanish moss basket stuff on their heads! It was truly hilarious! Let me see if I can find it. I laughed way too hard! lol
Good Afternoon. Sort a gloomy day here with a very gray sky. I should not complain with all the snow Vicki is getting. Makes me cold to even think about it. I did spend quite a bit of time reading the Sunday paper and looking at their ads.
Vicki, I did order my DM some oyster stew. I went through netgrocer.com. I've ordered it from there before. A long time ago. I'm not sure where it comes from but the postage was $8.00 cheaper with FedEX than I paid to ship the dates UPS. This will get her through the winter. New Englanders love their oyster stew. I like it too but don't eat the oysters. lol
Iris, I'm not a coffee drinker either. Never have been. DH will drink some if at anothers house but we only make it for company. I finally gave up on my Corning Wear blue flowered pot that probably was an antique. Got a drip one that sure doesn't get used very often. Now my very favorite ice cream flavor is coffee. Figure that out. I wouldn't even know what a Latte tasted like. Another item I've never had is a Krispy Kream donut. I think I'm better off staying away from them too.
My Christmas decorations kinda flow with snowmen. I have a bunch of different things that are snowmen.
I must tell you about the ecard #1DS sent us. I think is came from Office Max. It is a video of dancing pixies. One tune they dance to is country and the other is maybe a jig. The faces on the pixies are of my DS, DIL and her dad who is visiting. Really funny. I don't think the three of them have moved that fast in years.
I haven't been on for a few days and I miss being here. I must be coming very disorganized as I get older. I just can't seem to get my days to be as productive as I want them to be.
Jan I am glad you are feeling better. I have never had anything from Starbucks because I hate coffee. Way back in 1958 when my first baby was due the dr. wanted to start my labor I was told to drink coffee with a huge amount of castor oil in it and quinine. It didn't do anything but make me violently ill. That kind of killed any chances of me ever learning to like coffee. I don't have decorations up. Our house is in such a mess from all the work we have been doing I just am happy to see other peoples lights.
Tomorrow is Caillou's 2nd birthday. I will be going to his party of course. Garden burgers, curly fries and cake and root beer floats. Not the best as far as healthy but it is a special occasion. I haven't been that good anyway. It is really hard for me to behave food wise at this time of the year.
I've never had StarBuck's eggnog Latte. But, I have had Fireside Coffee's eggnog Latte. It's only 60 calories and 1gm of fiber! So it's only 1 WW point. Go to firesidecoffee.com and see if it's sold near you. I don't care for the eggnog latte as it taste a little like coffee. lol Yeah, duh right! lol Well the rest of their line doesn't taste that much like coffee! lol hahaha I like the pumpkin spice and cherry flavors the best. But, it would be worth it I think if you like Starbucks (cause theirs taste about the same coffeeness as far as I remember on other flavors I've tried), so I think it might help.
However if it must be Starbucks, ask for skim milk, use the sugar free vanilla syrup and ask for nutmeg to be added! That's what I would do. You won't get the rum flavor....but every thing else would be pretty close I think. Too bad they don't have more then vanilla and caramel in sugar free.
BUT, dunkin Donuts all their syrup flavors come in sugar free, maybe they have a eggnog one?
I'm waiting for my thyroid pill to settle in before I have breakfast and we leave. I'm bringing Christmas gifts for Mom (a fleece throw I made) and my sister and pictures we just had taken for the directory at church. It's raining but that's okay as long as it doesn't snow on the pass. I hear it may snow next weekend. There's one part of me that wants to just throw caution to the wind and comfort myself (Starbucks eggnog latte) but another part says I'm just getting well from this bronchitis and need to take care of myself. I'll let you know which side wins.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Question: Do you have your Christmas tree and/or decorations up? Tell us about some of your favorites.
I loved seeing Paulissa's but the security on my computer kicks me offline when I exit looking at one picture. I loved her little clothesline. I saw an Avon catalogue with those and loved them.
Well, I'm going to hop in the shower and finish packing. Need to find my Christmas CDs to bring along.
