Yeah I love the Curvation line, it doesn't go above a DD. (which even that is hard to find). I find it hard to believe that Queen Latifa (their spokes person) can actually wear their bras. She is much bigger then me on top, and I can't fit into any of them! lol

I really like the Curvations but I'm at the upper end of the Cs and I haven't seen much bigger than Ds (I'm a 44C). Bras are ridiculously priced and like you, I wouldn't mind spending the money if they held up

Vicki, There's nothing like a stir-crazy husband unless it's the wife taking care of him! That is very hard when parents need care and don't want to go where they can get it. A good friend's mother lived with them for years but after my friend had a stroke, they had to place her mother in an adult group home and then moved her to other relatives out of state. It's very hard for my friend because her mother begs to come home every time she calls. It's just no longer possible and the mother isn't listening or comprehending the situation.

Vicki good to hear your husband is doing better!

Yes, that is what I do Jan. Rinse with apple cider vinegar and water. It works very well. And is VERY cheap! :)

Good Wednesday morning!
Was in a hurry yesterday when I posted and just wanted to add a few things.

Louise, I hope you are getting some answers about your MIL. It is hard to have to step in and "help" when our parents need our assistance and yet don't want to admit that they need it. My MIL fought us about moving to assisted living but she could not live alone anymore. Hubby and his brother went and looked at a few places and took her to a couple of them. Of course she found everything wrong with each of them. They asked her which one she liked the best out of all of them and when she told them they put in an application and when they were accepted and got a move in date they just told her she was moving on X day. They took her and some of her furniture and things. Afterwards they had to deal with cleaning out her house (she was a pack-rat) and selling it. She was in the assisted living home for a few years and last year went into the attached nursing home. She was 94 when she passed on 10/30. I'm sure it is hard to give up your home and everything you have known there but sometimes it is in their best interest even if they don't think it is. How is your daughter doing today? Hope she is feeling better.

Shalifa, my mother passed 5 years ago and I still miss her so much. I'm sure I always will. I hope you have found some peace in your mom's passing. Jan is right, prayer helps. Saying a prayer for your friend and her son (family) that lost her husband. How sad, especially for that young boy who is always going to remember what happened.

Jan, what a nice celebration you had for your KOPS friend. And how nice that you won that fruit basket. Congrats on the nice weight loss.

I didn't do too much of anything yesterday and it felt good! Just spent time with hubby. He is doing OK. He is getting stir crazy and would really like to be able to go out and do something, even shopping! He thinks with a gate belt that I could get him out of the car but I am not even ready to try to deal with that. The physical therapist was here again yesterday and they are working on trying to keep up his strength and muscles for when he is able to try to walk again.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Vicki

I've heard of using baking soda and one of these days I'm going to try it. I've heard you mix the baking soda with warm water then after rinsing using vinegar in water. It sure would be easier on the plumbing and the pocketbook!

WTG on the basket!

I know all the little mom owned lingerie stores are gone.

When I went back to Kansas last year, I asked my dad about one in our home town where he always got mom's gifts. Cause I figured she would sell my size, as she always had specialty sizes. But, she went out of business too and she was there forever. :( It's sad.

I haven't used shampoo in forever. lol I would think it's kind of harsh. I wouldn't of thought of using it for washing anything in. lol I only wash our hair with baking soda.

Oh, I used to use that when there was a wonderful plus size lingerie shop in Portland. The lady went out of business and I really miss her. I was surprised about the recommendation to use baby shampoo. So I got some and then I've been using it on my hair, lol.

I forgot to tell you I won the "fruit basket" tonight because I lost the most weight (2.2 lb.)- I am so happy about that. It's time for that scale to move downward again emoticon

This link tells more about it. When I ask most people if they carry it, I get weird looks, like they never heard of it before.

I go to Manhattan usually to get it, at a lingerie store that Oprah and the Queen of England get theirs at. www.barenecessities.com/vendor.asp?v

Well, what I use is specially for bras, it helps the material regain it's regular size. You can only get it at upper scale lingerie shops.

It may not even be called detergent, but that's what I call it. lol

This is what I use-

When I got the Essential whatever bras (can't think of the name) they said to wash them in Dreft or baby shampoo!! No detergent. A lot of fuss and feathers, lol.

The party for my friend reaching her goal was so nice! We weighed in before 6, then just said our pledge and had the KOPS ceremony. She was given a dozen yellow roses (real) and also silk yellow roses for her to keep longer. Then everyone attending brought a little gift and it was so much fun and just honoring her accomplishment. I know she was very pleased.

Ann, I can't imagine running around in shorts today - so much cooler here.

Shalifa, so sorry to hear about your friend's DH and the loss of your mother. Life is challenging. Prayer helps.

Vicki, sometimes it's just a great luxury to not have to get dressed until the afternoon. I hope you got rested up today. How's DH doing?

BTW, I never ever machine wash or dry my bras. I always hand wash and air dry. I also never wear them back to back. In fact, I try to never wear the same one twice in one week, giving it plenty of time to rest and go back.

And I even use a special bra detergent. But, they don't sell it at Penny's so I have to go back to the lingerie shop for more, cause I think I left it last month on vacation, I have searched high and low and been using another gentle detergent instead, but it's not especially for bras like what I had.

But some brands still won't hold up. I think it's the weight of this cup size, and the kinds of materials that are used. Some materials hold up better then others. Some also the wires start coming out the top!

Thanks gals.

I think I'll try a playtex one!

Well, Lane Bryant is one of those stores that doesn't sell my size. lol I probably wear a 38H in Lane Bryant sizes, but they don't sell that. Their 38F, is small on me, they put too much padding in the cup! UHG!

When I was heavier though (bigger band) I did like their bras a lot. But, the plus size stores don't sell much in a band under a 40. However, like I said I did used to really like theirs.

Good Afternoon Everyone. A nice day but not 10 degrees cooler than they said it would be. DH has shorts on so I know it is warm outside. He is Mr. I'm Always Cold.

Can't help in the bra dept. I do wear Playtex and they last a long time. I do wash mine in the washer but don't put in the dryer. Sure wish I didn't have to put up with strapitis.

Heather, can you use an electric heater when the manager doesn't turn up the heat? I just bought one from Costco I'm hoping my DH will use when he sits in the family room where there is a high ceiling. The wall heater sends the heat to the ceiling and I can't make DH realize if he reversed the ceiling fan the warmth would come down to his level.

Jan, I had one of the WW chicken quesadillas last night. I should say I had two. Not two packages but the two that came in the box. Not bad but the ones I make are better.

Shalifa, that is so sad about your DF's DH.

Louise, I know what you mean about parents and elders wanting to stay in their own home. I can't blame them but some times it becomes an issue of safety. I'm sure with meds your daughter is feeling 100% better today.

Vicki, enjoy your day off. I'm one that hates to get dressed. I generally do my housework in my robe. Don't do that often --- housework that is. LOL

Hi everyone. I'm just taking a few minutes of my lunch break to catch up with you all.

Louise, I hope your daughter is feeling much better. Sorry to hear about your MIL, hope she is better soon too.

Heather, I wear playtex almost all the time because they last really well. The important thing to make them last is in the washing. Never throw them in the washer or dryer and never ever use bleach. I like the 18 hr. comfort strap. I've recently moved down a cup size. Whenever I lose weight that's the first place it shows up, LOL.

That's about it from here today, I'll check in later on.

Good afternoon!

Haven't read any posts for a couple of days. Will go back to them if I find the time.

Louise, I hope your daughter is feeling better today. My Monday was insane, too! Would have sworn there were a half dozen or more full moons going on!
Have today off and I am still not dressed. I'm still tired from yesterday and just can't get moving.

Can't really help in the "underwear" department. I have bought Just My Size bras though and have been pretty happy with them.

Interesting information about some Plus size stores closing. Let us know if you hear more, I haven't heard anything around here.

Welcome to our new member posting!

Better go shower now. Expecting a delivery from UPS. Don't want to scare the poor guy away forever!

A good day to all!

Vicki

Good morning,

I'm going to Bible study this morning, then in the afternoon a friend is coming over to help me tie the fleece throw. This evening we'll go to TOPS where there is a party for our friend who became a KOPS (reached her goal). Long day but fun.

Louise, I hope your daughter gets over the UTI fast and feels better. I am thankful Mom chose to move to a retirement apartment before we had to step in with decisions. It has to be very difficult for older people to give up their freedoms.

Heather, I like the Lane Bryant bras- I wore mine for over two years. When they wore out I got Essential Bodywear bras and they were pricey - around $150 for 3. They say gently wash (hand wash or gentle machine in a bag) every night. One you wear, one in the drawer, the other one drying. They also said to dry them flat or over a drying rack (not hanging from the straps which is how I was doing them). To tell the truth I don't see that much difference from Lane Bryant and I'll probably go that route next time. Lane Bryant has sales where you get the third or fourth free. Of course, with the economy the way it is - they may offer them cheaper or also I heard some Lane Bryant (and other plus size) stores are closing. I hope the one I go to in a larger city isn't one of the ones closing.

oh one more thing Just my size bras are very cheap, like 14 dollars, but they don't really carry much below a 40. :( I used to wear them though when I was heavier and they were pretty good! I wish they would make ALL sizes as that's really affordable.

Oh man what a tragedy for your friend!

So sorry about your mother as well.

I know what you mean about the price! It's CRAZY! Have you tried Victoria's Secret? What size are you? I may be keep a look out and let you know if I see any.

VS has nothing in my size, which I find ironic since it's supposed to specialize in underwear!

Even Fedrick's and the like has nothing to fit me, when I try on one of their 38F's it is TONS of stuffing. I think it's for people who maybe really like a 38B or C and want to look like a F.

I nursed Lela for 2 years, and that was even harder to find bras, cause then I was like a 38J and that was very hard to find. Especially in nursing bras.

Any way, off to walk then back to penny's.

Sorry about both of your days, yesterday. My was compairable yet not as bad. Since my firend got a call Saturday as we were about to have a baby shower for another friend's daughter. I am praying a lot more for her. Her husband died bending over to help his son up off the ground, 7 years old, the son. He was 37. I am still dealing with my parents place 100 miles away. Mom passes away 8/8/08. Life keeps rolling the good with the bad.

As for Heathers question, I am no help I am sorry to say. I have always been small on the top. The prices they charge for "top" underwear, I call them around my house of sons, are awful. I do not understand why they cost SO much. Even when I was 60# heavier, and a little bigger the standard rack sizes fit me. Now that I have dropped the extra weight I have trouble finding a small enough size to fit right. I nursed all 5 sons a a year to year and a half, as well.

Called by the Lord,
An W...

Oh my I hope your family gets better soon Louise!

I was gone a lot yesterday too.

I got every thing done, but now I have to go back to Penny's to return one of the bras I bought. It had a hole in it! UHG! 100 dollars for 4 bras and that was with a sale, and a coupon, and one has a hole in it! UHG!

I'm going to ask a kind of personal question, since we don't have any men really ever join us....

I wear a large cup bra (38F). And really there isn't many bras that hold up for me. There's only ONE Bali's style that will hold up, I can get it for fairly cheap at Penny's. (around 20 dollars if I have the right coupons and sales that week). And then there is Prima Donna, I have to go to Manhattan to buy them, and they are around 75 dollars each, but they really hold up!

I've tried Chantelle, Goddess and a few others and they just don't hold up very long. (maybe 3 to 4 weeks, then they are shot).

I'm wondering, has any one ever tried Playtex in the larger cup sizes, and how did they hold up? I see at Walmart every day prices are only like 18.00. And they come in some cuter colors then my old stand by Bali-the style that works for me in Bali, only comes in nude (they call it rosewood), white and black.

Goddess comes in a lot of beautiful colors, but like I said don't hold up for me!

I believe the Prima Donna comes in some pretty colors too, but I can't really afford 75 dollars a bra.

So I'm curious about the Playtex.

Good Morning Everyone! I did not get to the computer at all yesterday. It was a hetic day here in Arizona or at least for us. I went to work only to get a phone call from my husband saying that our daughter was fainty and not feeling well and not going to go to work. Well, I rushed home since my husband works the second shift I figured he needed to sleep and she could not drive herself to the doctor's. While waiting for the doctor office to call back my father-in-law called us telling us that my mother-in-law got rushed to the hospital at 2a.m. Monday morning. We have been trying to talk them to move to an assistant living place near the hospital but for now they won't. Anyway, my mother-in-law had
severe pains in her legs and could not walk. The hospital gave her test and test and x-rays after x-rays. She will be in the hospital until they know what is going on. Also, they after her stay they want to send her to a physical theraphy center to help her walk. She will have to stay there for a while. My daughter had a urinary tract infection (cannot spell!). She is on medication so she should be all right today and back to work. I am actually looking forward to going back to work for peace and quiet and I work with two and three year olds!!!! Well, speaking of work, I better get going and get ready for work. What is everyone else doing today?
GOD BLESS!
