Well, I woke up with Mastitus, at 4 am yesterday and went to the ER. Things aren't getting better really. But, I'm on medication. They were going to hospitalize me but I wanted to come home.

However, I have kept up with exercise. I walked at Target for 2 hours while waiting for my RX to be filled. I didn't sit down once!

Today I walked Lela to the Library.

No, Kate never came out. Maybe that was a good thing! These people didn't have much land around the house. The tiny front yard was covered with gravel with plants around all the edges. Beautiful roses- they must know how to take care of them in this climate. We always get black spot (if the deer don't eat them first). Then the back yard was decks with greenhouses. I wondered if DH was going to suggest we get rid of the lawn.
I can smell that good turkey way over here!

Jan, I sure hope your wrist is OK. Funny notes on the door! Did you ever meet Kate? We belong to Freecycle, too, and hubby just asked me minutes ago if I had posted the items he left a note for me to do. I haven't so guess I better go do that. Would like to get rid of the stuff tomorrow.

The turkey turned out great. Haven't even tried it. Hubby wanted a sandwich when he got home tonight and I told him NO, he has to wait till Saturday. Addison is one tomorrow but the party isn't until Saturday.

Covered plants outside tonight as we could get frost. I want it to warm up already!

See you all in the morning!

Vicki

Ann, I'm convinced a person can get more done while wearing PJs. Your meatball recipe sounds good. If you were back in this area, it's 58, cloudy and good stew weather.

Vicki, I hope you are feeling better for that special party tomorrow. Hmmmmm, there's that turkey again. Sure sounds good!

I belong to Freecycle. It's a national thing but you join in your local area. I think I've mentioned it before. Anyway, today someone offered iris tubers for an iris that blooms twice during the year and I was the first one to say I was interested so DH and I hopped in the car and took the back country roads to go get it. The fellow was sure a character. On the front door were two notes: Bell doesn't work. Use the knocker. It takes us a long time to get there, but if we don't come go around to the side gate. Kate has bad breath. So we knocked the door knocker and waited and then went to the side gate. There's an elderly gentleman and a huge lab and a smaller mixed breed dog - both happy as clams to see us. DH asks which one is Kate. The guy says, "Oh, Kate is my wife!" Yikes. I'm glad I didn't ask that. I can go back in the spring for more tubers. He also gave us some begonias to winter over in the house. Somewhere along the way I strained my wrist and it sure hurts. Took Advil and put some heat wraps on it.

Baked a turkey today for our granddaughter's 1st birthdy party on Saturday. Tonight I have a child care class on family court procedures or something like that. Sounds kind of interesting and I need the continuing education hours but still not feeling the greatest and haven't made up my mind yet if I am going or not. Don't want to spread around whatever I have. Guess I better decide soon though.

Hello, I've had a morning of marathorn cooking -- in my p j's. I think I'm getting to old for this. I'm tired. I only made one recipe but did double it for freezer meals. This is a recipe from the low fat cooking class I took a couple of years ago. Meat Ball Stew. It has lots of ingredients but is very good. I also roasted some more of the bell peppers that were on sale.

Jan, I agree with you that recipes that call for a lot of ingredients are mostly a thing of the past for me. What does kohirabi taste like and how do you cook it? Is it part of the cabbage family?

Deb, it was nice you had a break visiting your sister with all the studying you are having to do.

Besides the cooking I'm doing laundry. Supper will be easy and not my stew. Too hot for that.

I was looking at cookbooks last night and amazed at JoAnna Lund's talent at putting together recipes and themes and titles that make you want to try them out. I wonder if she named the recipes as she was creating them or when they were complete. I have other cookbooks but rarely use them- too many ingredients that call for part of a jar of something-or-other that you won't use the rest of it.

My youngest son is coming down for the weekend. We're hoping we can get out on a hike. Our oldest son has been exploring some new trails. He saw a coyote yesterday but it skittered away the minute it saw him. He also saw a herd of elk up close and personal- he said there were 40-50 - they just kept pouring out of the woods.

It's good to know there's more Friendship Stew for dinner. I made the biscuits on that page, too, and they were very good.

The wall in the family room is done now and I get to decide what to put up on it. I've got some pictures but also have some of those little shelf things and a collection of small animal figurines. Some we've had since the kids were little tykes. Lots of memories.

What are you doing today?
