If JoAnna had access to the low fat cheese mixes and a lot of other things (PB2 comes to mind) who knows what wonderful concoctions she would have created!

I like the name of Make a Joyful Table, I think more should of been named likewise. But, oh well.

I like the Red Cabbage (old Fashioned Sweet-sour red cabbage), and Layered Party Pea salad from the Splenda book, I have made both more times then I can number.

To the layered salad though, I like to use Borden's Six Cheese Italian mix (instead of half one cheese and half the other, I think all white cheese on this salad is prettier, I've made it both ways). I also like to add a layer of sliced water chestnuts (doesn't change the calories enough to bother with it). I also like to top it with a tomato rose. Again for a prettier presentation.

Thanks, Jan. They sound yummy! I didn't realise there were two Splenda books. I'll have to look for the other one.

I feel the same way, there are so many to try I'll never get to them all....

Thanks, again!

Make a Joyful Table:

Eggs Baked in Toast Cups pg. 283
Pumpkin Raisin Custard pg. 236
Chicken Pot Pie with Noodles pg. 194
Old Time Peanut Fruit Salad pg. 119
Tropical Ambrosia Salad pg. 117

I didn't mark the Cooking Healthy with Splenda book but know I made a main dish that I loved- so I'm searching for it. I think I didn't use this one as much because I got Baking with Splenda right after and I love that one!

I really need to start making more HE recipes. There are so many I haven't tried yet!

Thanks, Jan, would appreciate knowing what you have marked as "Good"!

Yes, I am a proud Grandma. Love that little girl so much. Friday is her 1st birthday and Saturday is her party. Guess I will have to share her with lots of other people who are going to want to hold her, etc!
I like having her all to myself!

Have a good day!

Vicki, your picture looks like a proud and happy grandma and such a sweet Addie! I'll check my cookbooks in the morning to see what I have marked in those 2. I think Make A Joyful Table is my favorite title for the HE books. I hope all goes well for your DH in surgery and recovery.

Louise, little ones are such fun!

Ann, I'm checking that recipe out in the morning. Stew sounds good.

The friendship stew sounds wonderful! I just got 2 new (to me!) Joanna cookbooks today. I bought them at BookCloseOuts.com . I got Make a Joyful Table for $3.49 and Cooking Healthy with Splenda for 5.99. Haven't had a chance to really look through them yet. Any recommendations from either of them?

We have lots of cranberry bogs in central and northern Wisconsin. Most years I go to a Cranberry Fest up north where they close the entire town and the entire town is one HUGE craft fair, farmer's market and flea market. You can walk all day long and not see all of it. It runs for 3 days the last weekend of September. You can also go on bog tours, visit the factories, enter cranberry pie, candy, baking, cooking etc. contests and eat your way through the town. Lots of fun but so very tiring. We always did a two day weekend out of it.

Got a bunch of our outside stuff done today. Put summer yard decorations away and got the snow blower out and ready to go. Hubby has to have surgery on his shoulder on October 30th and won't be able to walk again for a few months afterwards. So we have to try to get Christmas shopping, yard work and some other things done before that. I'm just hoping that he won't have to go in the nursing home again but I really don't know that I can help him as much as he will need here at home, especially with the day care kids here, too.

Well, have to get to bed. Still not feeling that great and now I have a sore throat.

Louise, We would have driven through Kingston last year when we drove all over the Cape. We were staying at the Air Force facility in Hummerock. It is an old military look out for the harbor that use to store ammo. Now the Air Force has it for military recreation. We were camping there. I think it is our most favorite places to camp. Do they still have the cranberry bogs in Kingston? I bet you and the kiddies had a great time dancing.

The Friendship Stew was very good. DH didn't use to like beef stew but he had two bowls tonight. I didn't do anything different except maybe cut the meat in smaller pieces. DH did say I ruined a good steak. I told him it would probably have been a tough steak.

Good Evening! Ann, I just read your Saturday post.
You mentioned Plymouth, MA and cranberry bogs. I grew up and lived until 20 years (when we moved here)
in Kingston, MA the next town to Plymouth. One of my
uncles owned a cranberry bog. Another uncle used to
take care and oversee a few cranberry bogs. Also, my
dad and his brother used to work for Ocean Spray. Reading your post brought back so many memories. Small world, isn't it? Today I had so much fun with my two year old class. They had PE with my daughter.
My assistant and anoter worker took them to PE so I could work on some things. I decided to go after a while. Well, my daughter had a DVD on that the children were dancing to. It was a children's DVD but they were dancing to 50's and 60's music. So I started dancing along side of my assistant. The children stopped, laughed and then tried copying the
moves we were doing!! I do dance with them daily but
one would have thought they never saw me dance. Maybe because the type of music it was and the way I was dancing to it. Two and three year olds can be a
blast! Well, I have to get things done before it gets too late. I will try posting again tomorrow.
GOD BLESS!

Thanks for the comments on my picture. Of course wish I weren't in it! Oh well, I'm glad to have the picture of us together.

Heather, Lela sure adds to your workout when you carry her! Way to go!

I walked twenty minutes today! YEAH!

Lela walked most of it too! Yesterday I had to carry her most of it. So it was good!

Ann, you had a busy morning! It all sounds wonderful. It was very windy here in Wisconsin last night. It is still breezy but not too bad.

Had a head cold hit yesterday and today it is also in my chest. Don't feel like doing much at all. Hubby is going to grill turkey burgers later on. Hope I feel like eating!

I hope those fires stay well away from you, Ann, and anyone else that is near them.

Good afternoon,

I went to Bible study this morning so that's the whole morning. Tonight is TOPS and I'm presenting the new fall contest - almost ready with all I need for that.

It's beautiful outside and I'm itching to get out there. Gardening isn't what I have in mind today. The doggone deer must really be leaping to get into the back yard. They ate more beans and strawberries. I'm of the mind to pull them up. Then they'd eat my pansies, though.

After the craft project my little room is a mess and I need to clean/organize so I can do my exercise in here for the challenge.

Ann, I'm glad the fires aren't near you but wind can be really bothersome. Great idea about the peppers!

Where is everybody today. I worked in the kitchen them morning so have come to play. I have the Friendship Stew in the crock pot and roasted four big yellow and red bell peppers along with some old carrots and onions. The peppers were on sale 2 for $1.00. I think I will buy some more later today as this is the last day of the sale. After these were roasted I pureed them and freeze in small amounts. I add this to cheap speghetti sauce. Sure gives it a lot of flavor.

I also walked two one miles with Leslie.

Windy again today but not so bad as it is up the coast where the fires are. I sure hope these hot dry winds go away very soon.
