Those sound so cute, you will have to post pictures of your patterns! I want to see!
Ann it's been really neat contacting her again! I hope you can contact your friends too!

Ann, LC is right. I didn't know there was a Koret. We could have spent days to see everything!
Yes, there are quite a few cranberry bogs on the Washington peninsula lower corner of SW Washington. There are also some here in Oregon - one on the back road in the countryside near the church we go to. I guess it's a good thing to see so many cranberry products on the market. In Long Beach, WA there is Anna Lena's cranberry fudge. Sadly, Anna Lena's wonderful quilt fabric store is closing and there was a terrific sale there today. I hoped someone would have taken over the store when the owner decided to sell.
Heather, I brought home an embroidery pattern for "feathered friends" (for dish towels) and one for Redwork Cottage.

Good Evening. What wonderful stories today. Heather, it really is a small world and what a lovely story about finding a classmate from 2nd grade. I have a grade school class mate that I lost touch with (several in fact). I've often thought of writing them a letter and sending it to the school reunion committee and ask them to forward.
Jan, I know where you went shopping at the factory outlet. L C. or is it New P. I think the first one is correct. I hit the Koret store there and several other outlets with Koret stores on the way home. I didn't know Wa. state grew cranberries. Years ago in Mass. you could easily find the bogs and see the red colors before harvesting but not any more. I remember when DH and I first were married my parents took us to see the bogs and there was a train ride around the property. In Plymouth there use to be a cranberry store that showed a film about growing cranberries. Quite interesting.
Louise, those 6 tiny meals a day are working for you. Good job on the weight loss.

That Chowder sounds wonderful!
Well, I think classmates.com is probably pretty safe. I was only extra cautious cause a lot of bad scams are happening out of Africa. And since she has a African name, I was a little worried. But, it is for sure her! She is now living in Germany, and has went to school, and is very educated like her father. She's trying to come back to the US. But, since she was finishing school when 9-11 hit, and it's now after that it's hard for her to get a visa to come back she says. But, her sisters are here. And one brother is still in Ghana. Sadly both her parents have died. They were such a sweet couple. VERY sweet, and nice.
Any way I am so proud of her for getting so much education. She always was very bright-always in the advanced classes in school and such.
Any way, I think most times you don't have to worry on classmates about people pretending to be who they aren't. But, it is very wise to be cautious right now, of anything/anyone out of Africa. As that's where a lot of scams are stemming from online.
It is a gorgeous Saturday in Oregon. Really cold at night (some frost this morning) but then the sun comes out.
Louise, I am so glad you connected up with a doctor who can give you good advice and encourage you (and listen to you).
Heather, What a neat thing to reconnect with your friend! I'd say that was worth it. I've been curious about Classmates and it sounds like you have to be careful with people saying they are someone who they aren't? That would be very disappointing.
My trip down the coast was so much fun! It took us 2-1/2 hours to get to our destination but that's a drop in the bucket when two ladies are driving and talking. It rained off and on the day we left but Friday was sunny but cold. We stopped in Depot Bay to walk around, take pictures and have lunch and got so cold. We did see whales! There was no mistaking them - they spouted and you could see their brown backs in the water. On our trip we visited an outlet mall, a Christmas store, WalMart, Tillamook Cheese Factory. We want to save our money and make this trip next year.
Today we went to a cranberry festival in Washington state. A friend of my hubby's had a booth selling smoked salmon chowder with a few cranberries in it - really good. We walked out around the cranberry bogs where they demonstrate how they harvest them. There was a fellow walking two Boston terriers. We asked him about them and found out their names are Lucy & Ethel - isn't that hilarious! Now I have to settle back down to being at home as usual.

Such great news Louise! I am so happy for you!
I also love Trader Joe's! LOVE LOVE LOVE! :)
Something pretty neat happened to me last night.
A few months back, I joined classmates.com, I noticed some one who sounded like it may be a great friend I had in elementary school visited my classmate profile-it just showed she looked at it, but didn't leave a message. So I messaged her, and asked her if she was who I thought she was, I gave her VERY little information. As I didn't want it to be some one else trying to scam me. Well, she didn't have the pay for classmates, so couldn't read my message tell last night. Then she messaged me. It was for sure her! She new enough info that it had to be her.
We haven't heard from each other since second grade. But, we were VERY VERY good friends. So good, when her family left, they left my family all their belongings-car, fridge, freezer, furniture, etc. And promised to build us a hut to come and visit them and stay in.
See, they were from Kenya. Her father was a botanist, who found out how to grow rice with out water! This was during the drought/famine in Africa. And guerrilla's were after her father, to kill him because of this information. They wanted the people to starve to death. He came here to America to teach at a local college in my home town-his findings. After a while though his work visa was over, and he had to leave America. They went to Ghana where his mother in law lived, and were hoping the guerrilla's would not find them there.
For a while we wrote post cards back and forth, but then it got to he too expensive for her family to keep writing me. (like 8 dollars for a post card back in the 1980's!).
Any way....I have always thought about her and hoped she was still alive, and not murdered.
All I wrote her on Classmates, was, is this Akua, I went to school with and was in girl scouts with? (that was it, I figured if she wrote back, I would test her and make sure she wasn't another "african scammer".)
She wrote back, and said yes, she was in my brownie group and my mother was the leader, and how she remembered my family staying at the airport with her family their last day in America. (all this info I never even asked in my email to her!).
She went on to say it was like a Miracle she found me. That she never thought we would find each other again, and how she had thought about me all these years.
I am just so happy we could find each other again. The internet is so wonderful some days!
*sigh* She told me how to get a hold of her off of classmates, since she can't afford a classmates subscription (And either can I, I just paid one time, so I could email a few friends and hopefully reconnect long enough to exchange emails and then talk to each other off of classmates).
Any way.......that one time payment of 15 dollars was sure worth it to of found her! And reconnect again.
I am totally excited about this!

Everyone, Good Saturday Morning! It is another beautiful sunny day here in Chandler, Arizona. I am
really enjoying the weather we are having now. I do like the heat but I have to admit, I like it when it
is a little cooler out so I can go walking and not in the wee hours of the morning! Today my exercise was dancing fast for an hour to Toby Keith's Big Dog
Daddy CD. I had to play the fast songs several times but I got a good workout. I really don't like going to Health Clubs. I like dancing fast in my livingroom, swimming or pool walking in the pool in our townhome complex, walking outside or doing one of Leslie Sansone's DVD's or doing one of Richard Simmons DVD's. I know others have very good luck at Health Clubs but the few times I had joined, I never went. I got good news again from my Naturopathic Doctor. She looked over my Food, Exercise,Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure Diary and said I went down again in my Blood Sugar Readings. Also, she said my Blood Pressure Readings were great. She was impressed that I am sticking to what she has suggested I eat for the six small meals daily. I also lost another pound. So I finally found a doctor who listens to me and I listen to what she tell me to do. I have been shopping at Trader Joe's and I love that store. Well, what is everyone doing today? Everyone, please have a BLESSED and GREAT SATURDAY! GOD BLESS!
