Yep, I miss them, too. The gas station attendants wore uniforms and caps. There were also elevator operators and they had these click things to let you know the elevator was ready to board- they wore uniforms, too and I used to wish I could be one when I grew up. Movie theaters had ushers, too.

Judy, I'm glad you got to walk even if there were just two. I think it's a healthy sign that many of you are going to rally together.

Heather, you reminded me "in the old days" when you got gas someone always pumped it, washed your windshields and checked your oil. Things change.

Oh PS we pump our own.

I remember when we always got full service. Then that went out of "style".

However, we like to go over to NJ and have it pumped for us! lol haha

As far as me pumping, I haven't actually pumped gas for YEARS! I only ever had to do it for my parents a hand full of times. I have never really drove. I have had a learners permit but that's all. Never my own car. I really don't have a need or want for a car. However, we DO have a car. But, that's my husbands thing. I ride, he takes car of it, and does the driving and all that of it! lol haha

I have pumped gas maybe three times. I do not like to do it and Hubby knows that and takes care of it.

I like TOPS rallys. There will be one for our area on October 25. Eight of us are planning to go. That is pretty good considering we only have 14 in our chapter.

Our area captain held a TOPS walk on Saturday. It was a lovely day for it. Just two of us went but we had a nice time together.

Wow, Louise! What great results. It sounds like you got plugged in to the right person. Keep us posted.

Ann, Wish you could bottle that good weather for us, too. It just rained and drizzled and at times poured today.

Deb, I sure wouldn't think your life is boring lady! It would scare me to death to have to go back to school and there you are jumping right in. We all do different things. If I do more than 3 things a week I feel overwhelmed. My friend, who drags me out of the house a lot, is single and she is on the go all the time it seems to me!

Good Afternoon, It is such a beautiful day here. We are camped at an Air Force base north of Santa Barbara. I wish I could bottle this weather and save it for a hot hot day. Last nights weatherman said it was going to heat up in L.A. At the rate we are traveling, which isn't much, we might be home by the end of the week.

I understand there are only two states that you can not pump your own gas. Oregon and New Jersey. No, I don't pump mine either. DH or DD do it for me. Silly that I have never had to learn. I see older ladies than me and think I should learn. Just lazy I guess.

Good Morning! Today I went outside for a Brisk Walk for an half hour. I am going to dance later. It was still cool out--for Arizona that is! Yesterday I went to several bookstores. Bookstores are my downfall. I bought several books for myself and then spent money on books for my class. I love looking in the children's section. Friday I when I weighed in at my Natorpathic Doctor I had lost 4 pounds that was for two weeks. She looked over my food and exercise diary and was very happy with the results. I also have to mark down my blood pressure and blood gluoce and both went down tremendously so she was thrilled. I was too!!!! I actually am getting used to eating six mini meals and enjoying doing so. Sometimes it is hard at work for me to eat but my assistant is pretty good at taking over so I can. Jan, we pump our own gas here in Arizona.
However, I usually have my husband or daughter do it so I have not yet. I guess I better learn one of these days. Well, everyone, please have a GREAT and
BLESSED SUNDAY!

Good Morning everyone. No I didn't fall off the face of the earth, just took a little time out. But have been reading the boards daily.

Here in MI, we pump our own gas. Back in the 70's I was married to a SERVICE station (not gas only) owner and of course I learned how to pump gas, clean windows and check oil. That's back when a fill up was never over $20. Then when I got divorced and could let others pump my gas - guess what? self service was the in thing.

I'll bring you up to date. Still looking for a job, did have a second interview at one place, that lasted all of 5 minutes. Start classes on Wednesday. And my sister will be in town next Sat and Sun.

I'll try to post more often. It's just that I lead such a boring life compared to most of ya. Take care and see you later.

Good morning,

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Yesteray TOPS rally was great and a loong day. Left at 6 AM and got back around 8 PM. Saw some old friends and met some new ones. I am so happy to report I ate sensibly all day.

Here is a question: Do you have to pump your own gasoline?

Here in Oregon it is against the law to pump your own gas. Don't really know why except I've never had to. As we drove through Washington to/from rally we ended up needing to fill up in Washington and were a bit clueless about how the whole thing works!
