Ann, LOL about the reference to traffic in Branson. We were there once years back and that is exactly the way the traffic was if it was even moving at all!

Have you ever bought Trader Joe's Pineapple Salsa? It is pretty good. We like it.

Back to the Olympics now.

It is lovely here on the Oregon coast. There is an older couple (well they look older than us) parked next to us in a small camper van. They drove over from the Salem area to avoid the heat. We walked the outlet mall and made a couple of small purchases in the kitchen shops. There were three of them. One had a gourmet flair and sold the Texas salsa that we toured their factory several years ago. #1DS loves their pineapple salsa and he generally lets me know when they run out. It makes a great Christmas or birthday gift. One DH bought was a cranberry orangs salsa. We'll share these when we are on the caravan.

#3 here that also doesn't like crowds.

Judy, your canned peaches will taste so good this winter.

Jan, I can't believe you found yellow wax beans. They are rarely found in So. Cal. One grocery store had them a couple of weeks ago but they were so spotted I wouldn't have eaten them if I could have affored them. I kid you not, the price was $9.99 a pound.

Vickie, I think we were in some kind of a modern day Dream Cruise today. The traffic throught this pretty long town was bumper to bumper and 10 mph if we were lucky. I told DH I felt like we were in Branson, Mo.

Heather, what an interesting meal you should have with the lady in line with you at the store. What did your DH think of the invite?

Mary, I hope your weather cools down when we are up your way next week. DH has Navy buddies in Seattle we plan to visit.

I best get supper started. Last night it was hot dogs and one of Jo's potato salads. When in the motor home I nuke the hot dogs. I wrap them in a napkin and heat. Well the napkins I had last night were pretty thin and the paper stuck to the hot dogs so bad we couldn't get it all off. DH said we sure were getting our fiber.

Sorry, I was thinking that I had told you about the Johnny Winter concert. We got there and there were chairs set up and even some tables with chairs. Of course we waited till it was suppose to be starting to go so all the chairs were taken. But a nice man next to us who was there with his mother (who worked at the hall it was at) offered me his chair after the first band ended. I was SO happy as I had been standing for an hour already and was ready to go out to the car and have hubby call me when it was close to the end to come help him get out. Glad I didn't have to do that.

We mostly enjoy and attend Blues music/fests. I enjoy all types of music (well, maybe except for rap, metal and some of the alternative type music). Hubby was in radio when I met him and for about 12 years after I knew him. We attended MANY concerts and the parties afterwards, and hubby MC'd a lot of them. That is where our music interest comes from, I guess. He worked mainly at rock stations when he was in radio.

Jan, it really sounds like your son is getting a run around. Some friends!?!? Your day out sounds like it was a lot of fun. I enjoy going to sales like that and finding treasures!

Jan, could you share that recipe for your Harvest Bread? Sounds like something I would love to make this fall and to give as gifts even. I use to belong to a bread group on-line and got so many recipes and lots of hints, etc. Got to be too much though as I have a hard time deleteing things without reading them first.

Ann, I guess you do get east! Sounds like it was a fun trip. Next time you will have to swing through Wisconsin when you come this way.

Well, hubby is outside and wants me to come out and sit on the patio with him. Guess I will although I think it is cooler in the house and don't really want to go out there.

Later,

Vicki

Did we ever have fun going to garage sales. One was an estate sale and I love being able to see homes like that. Sounded like a relative bought the house, but it had a wonderful view of the Columbia River. Mary, looking over to the Washington side there was a big fog bank - so much cooler over there today. Anyway, good prices. I came home with a souffle dish (never made one before), egg wedger, a little hippo like the ones they give away in the Red Rose tea boxes, glass storage jars with tomatoes on them (like the old Corningware), some books, little glittery gold drums like Christmas ornaments.

Wellllll, my son called this morning. They wanted to leave at 8 AM but the people my son has been staying with were closing down their business and he couldn't get back into the house until they return - hopefully around noon. Very disappointing for everyone. The so-called friends who were keeping his cat and have his microwave told him he can't come pick up the cat til Monday (another 4 hour round trip back to Portland)and if he doesn't come then he is keeping the cat!!! I guess it's a full moon tonight! Lol. Also I think it was close to 100 in Portland again today. It's only 67 here.

Judy: I love to can peaches. I can just imagine how wonderful they smell.

Heather: That's really interesting about being invited to your new friend's home. That will be neat to hear your uncle and fil speaking. Do the men take turns doing the teaching?

Vicki: I'm looking forward to hearing how your weekend went. I don't think they will have a bonfire. It's been too dry and it is out in the country. This is where there is a replica of the encampment Lewis & Clark had on their exploratory expedition out here. There is a trail to the sea that I haven't been on yet but I'm not sure if that is where they are going.

Deb: How was the farmer's market? What are they selling in your area? Here there are peaches, raspberries, some corn, green beans (oh- I got yellow wax beans last week!), fingerling potatoes, still some cherries. Of course, spinach, beets, lettuces.

Mary, I remember when we used to be able to leave windows and doors open. I'm glad it has cooled off where you are. I have a friend who had a scanner and she told me there was a peeping tom in this area. One night there was a police call about him and they searched the area but forgot to look up in the trees which is where he was. I forgot about him until some time last year when someone was arrested peeping from up in the trees. I'm glad your son is there to help and protect you.

Hi All,
Thus far, at 12:02 PM, it really isn't too warm here in Tacoma. If only it would stay this way. Then again, I can't help but thinking of people everywhere that are coping with REAL heat. Am lucky to have my grown son here so we can sleep with all the windows and doors open ALL NIGHT! Just like in the old days... when you could do the same and not have to worry about someone sneaking in and knocking your head off or something.

I slept good during the night despite up 3 or 4 times...even got on the computer around 3AM for awhile. Think that was when I was finally able to turn the fan off. From 5:30 on don't know what happened until I woke up at almost 9:30, then had to scramble to get breakfast down. But now the time is beginning to drag by, and in another hour I'll be laying down for a long nap. This has been a learning experience for me in using/letting sleep be a big part of healing. I am looking forward to cooler weather this next week so I can start doing a little outside walking for strengthening. All take care and have a good day, keep cool and stay healthy. Mary C.

Happy Saturday to all!

Judy, those peaches will taste so good! I use to can peaches but haven't in many years. And I know what you mean about doing it when you are alone so you don't have to keep stopping LOL!

Heather, that is funny about that lady asking for your number and then calling to invite your family to dinner. Maybe she is new to the area and looking for a friend??? Have fun there and let us know how it goes. When is it your turn to give the talk at church?? LOL! Might as well keep it in the family! It could become a new family tradition!

Deb, Never heard of the Dream Cruise but it sounds nice that it goes through a larger area than just a parade would.

Jan, I have a room I have to tackle before Christmas when our daughter and family are coming home from ND for the holidays. I also don't know where to go with it all. Guess I should just start in there and do a little at a time instead of waiting till the last minute and having to do all of it at once. That night hike sounds like fun, if there are no mosquitoes! Enjoy it if you go. Are they having a bonfire or anything to go with it?

Well, better get busy around here. Have a good day!
Vicki

I have peaches I am planning to can today. Hubby is working so I can do it (the canning) without having to stop to make meals. That helps.

I've been hearing about the Dream Cruise on the radio.

I really love farmers markets.

I met a lady standing on a line a last month, who called the other day and invited us to dinner. (I was shocked when she asked for our number while on the line) lol So, we'll be going there for dinner. Her and her family seemed pretty nice. This is the first time anything like this has happened with me. So who knows. But, you know what I've met people in weirder ways. lol Heck I met my husband online, and well a lot of my friends in real life are from online meetings. So at least this was a in person first time meeting. lol

I'll let you know how it goes.

Other then that, my husband's uncle is going to be giving the talk at our congregation tomorrow so that should be nice as well. My FIL is going to be giving it next week! It will be his first ever! His brother though who is visiting tomorrow and giving it is very experienced and he's been giving them for many years. I guess he's coming to break the ice for my FIL.

Good morning Deb and anyone else who joins us,

As Ann told us, it's nice and cool on the coast. I'm having my morning coffee and wondering where in the world I am going to put all my stuff that was in the room my son will be using.

Tonight Ft. Clatsop is having a night hike - first time I think - and it sounds like fun. One of the park employees will lead it and talk about night animals. People are encouraged to bring a short poem about the moon, stars or such. I'll let you know about it if I go.

Deb, I don't like crowds either. I only go to crowded things if I really, really want to see what's there. Our Sunday Market is usually pretty crowded but there's so much to see. Lots of crafts as well as produce.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning All ! ! !

It's Saturday. It's a beautiful morning and promises to be a wonderful summer weekend.

Here in SE Michigan we are having out 14th annual Dream Cruise. Think "American Graffiti" - hundreds of classic cars "cruise" (slow crawl) along one of our main streets that covers a number of suburban communities. Thousands of people line the streets and watch the cars go by.

But since I don't care for big crowds, here I am at the library and later this afternoon I'll hit a local farmers market.

Hope everyone will be having a great afternoon and see ya all later.

Deb in MI
