Salam everyone
I'm here with the aim of losing around 50 pounds -- I've struggled with my weight for a very long time-- I realise that fixing my weight is not going to fix my life-- however it's one of the compounding problems.
I'm here to improve myself on all fronts - moving towards better health, and being a better person and a better Muslim. I've realised that I have to cherish and take care of this body, which is a gift from the all mighty.

As Salaamu Alaikum sisters,
I would love to lose weight so I could stop/decrease the majority of daily medication in order to feel healthier and alive! With all the medication I am on for my many ailments, it decreases my mojo so I tend skip workouts and forget about calories (be willful). A healthier me would allow me to do the many activities, I am not able to now, with my family and friends. Inshallah, we are all blessed with power and motivation to succeed in our quest!

I want to drop about 15 pounds, insha'Allah. That is the weight I am most comfortable at. Plus, I just want to feel better, in general and about myself, too.

oh yes. as of yesterday, I finally made my 20# weightloss goal. and my dance instructor noticed. whew. that was nice. it did take me almost 9.5 months to lose 20# but I'm here now. so thats good. I didn't start taking metformin until just under a month ago. so it has helped me get over my barely 15 pound plateau, lol.
I would like and NEEd to lost more.

I, personally didn't have any side effects...except for in the beginning. Once my body adjusted and I completely changed my diet to adjust everything was fine. I stayed on met for about a little more than a year and then we conceived our first child. I haven't been on it since. However, I've currently changed dr.s and she considered putting me back on it. But when I went back for a check up my weight loss was enough that she was satisfied that I didn't need it. Pls keep me posted on your success. It's always nice to have people who can relate specifically to an issue that you are going through.

I haven't noticed, but do you know about the pcos forum here? I too have it. I was diagnosed about 12 yrs back. It's hard to deal with. Especially when losing weight. I was on it a. Long time ago. Luckily, my new dr saw the progress with my loss and decided to not give it to me again. So, that was surely a blessing.

Originally I started losing weight to prove to others I can, then I realized it was for my daughter, then I had my A HA moment..I realized it was all for me. To make me stronger, healtier, and yes a little vanity here...more attractive. I want my children to grow up and know a strong mom, to know a mom they can be proud of, I want to be proud of myself when I look in the mirror and I want to be healthier. I want to teach my children and others good eating habits. It took me a long time to realize the benefits of this, and knowing that I will be my daughters star is all I need. They will be able to look at mom for an example and be proud. That's what I've realized on this journey. Oh, yes vanity does play a big part still I know it shouldn't but it does

I want to lose weight mainly for my health. I don't think that treating my body like this is good from the islamic perspective either.. I also want to be able to find clothes, and to ride horses again insha'Allah.

Salaam Alaikum sisters, I want to lose weight to please Allah swt, but also to save my marriage and look beautiful for my husband, and Insh Allah I could be healthy to conceive, this is my dua, Insh aAllah Ya Rab
I agree, it would be nice to wear my old clothes in my closet. I love feeling cute(Don't we all!!) It's no fun having muffin top (Even if it is under abaya) I still know that my pants are uncomfortably tight and cutting of my circulation. Not attractive at all, borderline gross. Time for me shape up and loose some flab.

I want to lose weight and get in shape for a few reasons. One is that I'm 31 and have just had to go on blood pressure medicine. It seems to be something that runs in the family but I'd really like to get off the medicine. I'm too young for that. I don't have any children yet and as I'm getting older I need to keep myself healthy so that it still may be possible for me in the future. That is very motivating for me. Plus it'd just be nice to wear some of my older clothes that don't fit anymore....and we're supposed to take care of ourselves!

I want to lose some weight for health purposes (pcos) and hopefully it will help me feel lighter on my knees, etc, insha'Allah. I play to go down to 160 or 170 eventually, and learn how to balance me, the house and family, lol. also, being @ a lower size and better health makes ME feel better, i'm better at other things when I feel better, masha'Allah

Salaam Sister Meg --I've been away for awhile also dealing with personal issues! This is not complaining or an attempt for sympathy, since it is what it is, but we lost our home to foreclosure, had to move to the low rent district and then had extended visitors whom I didn't know, so my focus on weight loss has been nil and my stress in coping with these events has been way high. Even if you accept unpleasant things, you still have to creatively cope with them-How to respond and solve the many problems that occur.
We all have Issues in life, and masha Allah, we can all get to the point where we can separate ourselves from these things for a little while each day and focus on acting on our goals rather than reacting to events. This is so difficult, especially with everyone pulling on you and expecting you to do beter, so I am praying for stamina for my own goals and the ability to explain to near people that I will take extra time every day to pray, which will include thinking about my goals and thus renewing my resolve. This is also a religious effort after all.
Anyway, my goal for weight loss is to get rid of acid reflux, sleep apnea, high blood sugar, jiggly fat, and low energy. Also, I'd just like to be thin again. My highest weight was 220 and am now at 204. I can't credit will power, I think all the extra activity is what did it.

Been on this site forever and still haven't done much with weight loss, but haven't gained much back. Mainly want to stay healthy and look better (esp my tummy to be less jiggly). I wish I could be like my dad--91 yrs old, walks 3 miles/day, 100 sit ups, 100 push ups, 100 squats, 100 leg lifts every day. Masha Allah!

My goals are to lose the unhealthy fattening habits I've developed my whole life and led me to my overweight problem. By losing them, hopefully insha'Allah, the weight will gradually come off and never creep back again.
Reasons : To prove to myself that I can do it.
In other aspects of my life I have been very successful in reaching whatever goal I want to reach, the only one that I couldn't manage was the weight! In my head it was automatically linked with "impossible" to change and that I'm "destined" to stay this way. So this is me trying to prove to myself that I can do the "impossible" !

My goal for weight loss are several.
1. I have a one-year-old daughter mashallah who I would like to raise without the "weight hangups" that I've had. I want her to know inshallah how to eat healthy, how to be active without making it seem like a "diet". I want it to be part of our family's lifestyle.
2. My husband is also overweight and it's my goal to change how I eat and view being active, and inshallah we'll both reach our goals.
3. Because I truly believe that a healthier lifestyle is one way to respect Allah because he gave us these bodies to use, not abuse with an unhealthy lifestyle.

Goal for weight loss: Lose my kgs till I get 53kg. I don't want to get 50kg, my early goal, as I remember during that time, I looked too skinny, haha. So, 53kg sounds reasonable for my 5ft 2". Currently, losing weight is not top priority as I'm more focusing to inches losses, getting this body more toned & slimmer. So, reasons for weight loss, I've no idea. Besides, my current weight, 58kg, is in the healthy range, so I guess the best reason for weight loss is keeping my weight in the healthy range and father from the lowest weight in overweight range!

My goal is to lose 15 -20 lbs. I just want to get back to the weight I was before having kids which sometimes seems impossible. But I did acheive it after my last child while breastfeeding but unfortunately put it back on after weaning him.
Reasons 1. Stay healthy and prevent diseases. 2. Have more energy to worship Allah and serve family/others. 2. look attractive for my hubby :) 3. Be a good role model for my children

my goal is to be a fitter and healthier person and to do that i need to loose weight. here are my reasons,
1# to feel happier, healthier, lighter and brighter. 2#to live longer so i could be around longer for my husband and children and inshallah my grandchildren 3#to have more energy when i am around longer, lol 4#because allah gave us our bodies out of love so we should treat it with love out of respect for allah and his faith in us.
